The Paphos District

Situated on the south-west coast of Cyprus, Paphos is the ideal holiday destination for families seeking sunshine and relaxation.

If you are interested in archaeology, folklore, ethnography or the Byzantine Empire, you will find something to interest you in one of Paphos' twelve museums and beyond Paphos itself, it is only two miles to the Tombs of the Kings, a Unesco World Heritage Site.

Paphos town is strongly connected to Greek mythology and its history. Paphos (or Pafos in Greek) was the capital of Cyprus under the Ptolemy's, successors of Alexander the Great, when its harbour was a thriving port, and remained Cyprus's first city for more than seven centuries under Roman rule.

Aphrodite's Rock (Petra tou Romiou) on the south coast of the island, on one of the most beautiful beaches is the location where Aphrodite, the goddess of beauty and love, was said to have emerged from the sea. Aphrodite's Rock marks the spot.

Paphos Castle was originally built as a Byzantine fort to protect its famous picturesque harbour. Since 1935 it has been declared an ancient monument and is now considered as one of the landmarks of the Paphos region.

Queens Gardens

Paphos has plenty of nightlife, night clubs with good live music, discos and bars the loudest of which are centered on Bar Street.

There is a wide variety of restaurants, catering for all tastes. Along with taverns, which provide local and Greek dishes, there are restaurants that offer international cuisine such as French, Chinese, Italian, Indian, Lebanese, Japanese, Russian, Mexican and all the usual fast food alternatives.

For golfers there are now four top class 18-hole standard championship golf courses (par 71/72) within approx 30 minutes drive of the property; Aphrodite Hills, Secret Valley, Menthis Hills and Elya GC's (and other new ones in construction).

Water sports are available at almost all the beaches and you can go horse riding, cycling or hiking in the nearby countryside. From the picturesque harbour, with its medieval castle, you can hire a speedboat or embark for a half/full day cruise along the coast and do some souvenir shopping before you go home,

New for 2014 one of the largest shopping malls in Cyprus, the Kings Avenue Mall, has now been completed adjacent to the Queens Gardens complex.

Whether you're looking for a sunny beach getaway, golf, shopping, night life or just lazing by the pool it is available here for a great family, couples or wedding party vacation.

“Excellent apartment with everything you need for your holiday”

Reviewed 3 Sep 2015

My daughters and I stayed @ Queens gardens apartments for 11 days in august. We arrived late evening but was collected by taxi which had been prebooked and arrived to find our apartment ready for our stay. We were very happy with our accommodation, very comfortable with everything we needed. Pool was. Just outside from patio area and was very refreshing and a lot bigger than expected. Location was spot on, we hired a car but you could walk to shops and harbour and also new Kings shopping mall was next door, although it was like shopping at home so didn't visit often. I would definitely recommend anyone considering staying at this apartment.

“Very Relaxing Break - great property and location”

Reviewed 10 Aug 2015

We stayed at Graham and Fiona's townhouse in Queens Gardens for 11 nights in July, From the point we booked, everything ran smoothly with Graham ensuring we had everything we needed for a great holiday. The property information pack was comprehensive down to the last detail and he also arranged transfers from the airport. The apartment itself was perfect for our family of 4. It had everything you need and it's location was second to none. The fact that you can walk straight out from the back patio to the pool area is a real bonus, particularly with children, who could come and go as they please without the need for supervision, The pool area has plenty of beds and we found it all very friendly. The children quickly made friends with others staying in the complex and you feltt part of a nice little community with everyone keen to help everyone else with local information or if they had a problem of any description. The apartment was very clean, spacious and comfortable, with the air conditioning in the main living area and two bedrooms an absolute necessity which made for a good night's sleep. There was everything you needed for a relaxing self catering break, with perhaps only the absence of a microwave oven a very minor suggestion in terms of facilities. The location is absolutely perfect. Situated next to the new Kings Avenue Mall with it's large supermarket, clothes shops and food court which we found really useful for a quick snack during the day and only 10 minutes walk from the lovely Paphos harbour. The array of bars and restaurants on the Tomb of the Kings Road are on the doorstep and we spent most evenings sampling the different tavernas or walking down to the harbour for a meal and to watch the world go by. We will definitely be returning to Graham and Fiona's lovely apartment. In fact we wouldn't stay anywhere else now as I can't see how it can be bettered for a very relaxing family holiday in lovely Paphos.

Thank you positive review which we do appreciate. We always try to maintain the property to a high standard and respond to Client requests or queries as soon as is practical. Regards, Graham Webb

“Great place”

Reviewed 8 Aug 2014

Have just returned from our third time at this property and yet again had a great time. Great property which is close to the bars and restaurants but quiet in the complex. Just next to the new Kings Avenue Mall which has a range of eating places and a huge supermarket for all your essential. The property has everything you need just like being at home. Easy booking with Graham who also organised a taxi from the airport. Would definitely go back.

“Fantastic apartment and ideal location!!”

Reviewed 8 Jul 2014

What a wonderful apartment, I have rented many holiday properties over the years and this has to be one of the best. Every little detail has been thought out by the owners Graham and Fiona, and couldn't want for anything. The place sparkled and has to be one of the cleanest rentals I have come across. Travelled with a friend and we both couldn't fault it. The location is ideal and in the centre of everything, making it a short walk to wherever you wanted to go. Fantastic for families, couples and friends....don't hesitate to book, you'll thoroughly enjoy it!! Will definitely be booking to go back soon.

“Home from Home”

Reviewed 27 Jan 2014

Have stayed at this property twice before and have booked to return again this year, Cannot fault it at all. Ideally placed for bars/restaurants but peaceful in the complex, Cant wait to go back again. Owner very helpful at time of booking and arranged everything for me even the taxi from the airport

“Absolutely fantastic place to stay”

Reviewed 17 Oct 2013

I contacted the owner through Holidaylettings and received a very prompt response and confirmation of the booking was done within days. The owner provided all information and kept in touch closer to the time with instructions and to arrange how to access the property We had stayed in Queens Gardens before and knew what to expect on arrival, however were even happier this time as the apartment is spotless and very spacious. Exactly what a family needs. The facilities are second to none. Each room has a balcony and the master bedroom's balcony has a fantastic view along with luxury outside furniture. The pool area is right outside the apartment doors. The location is excellent and very close to the restaurants and unique little bars. My favourite restaurant is right next door. Our kids, aged 10 and 12 loved this apartment. We didnt go to Paphos last year however we plan in visit in 2014 and we have already made a booking for this apartment and will always come back when I come to Paphos.

“5 star property”

Reviewed 16 Sep 2013

This property is in an excellent location at Queens Gardens Paphos, it's in a very nice gated community with large swimming pool, sun loungers and parasols..it also has its own parking space. The 2 storey, 3 bedroom townhouse is of a very high standard, excellent decor, and fully equipped to make the stay very enjoyable. Restaurants and bars are in close walking distance and the harbour is only a15 min walk away. Our stay was very enjoyable, Graham and Fiona ( the owners) were excellent to deal with. All in all it was a very pleasant stay.

“Great family holiday”

Reviewed 16 Oct 2012

We recently spent a week at this accomadation. It was was like a home from home and my family settled in very quickly. Its very spacious and the perfect location for the pool as it backs straight onto the pool. If you require more privacy the balcony upstairs is perfect. The owner made us well aware of the building work going on next door, it didn't cause us any problems. The resort is good it caters for all types, Coral Bay is only a cheap 15min bus ride away, the harbour offer some fantastic restaraunts. I would highly recommend the Jolly Roger for a family day out worth every penny, our boys are still talking about it.

Thankyou for your great comments

“BRILLIANT so much fun I nearly became a Cypriot”

Reviewed 5 Oct 2011

To explain a bit, my nephew was getting married in Paphos and the families came over enmass to make sure he did not back out 8-) it meant that between all the families, we actually rented 5 apartments from different owners in the Queens gardens complex. This particular one (apartment 5) was where my wife and I and 15 year old son stayed, My other older son and daughter and partners rented apartment 8, (three doors to the left of this one) The other 3 apartments rented were on the top floor by the bride and grooms families..... Of them all, we reckon we got the best ones. The upper apartments are bigger and very plush but you need to go round the back and take a lift up to them. No big deal but wandering out the patio doors of our apartments puts you 10 feet from the amazingly good pool and a surprisingly cheap bar (Helens bar)run by Ron and serving quite good food. We were slightly off season (Sept) so although the temp was about 30 deg, it was pleasant and there were always plenty of sun loungers available. All the apartments including Grahams one were spotless, well appointed, both Graham and Linda (apartment 5) organised welcome packs with the usual critical food groups, Vodka, Wine, mixers, oh and some munchies too. The price for these was quite reasonable. Everything worked, everything was in good condition. On the first floor are two bedrooms and a large clean bathroom, the bedrooms, (the master is a double, the other a twin) both have balconies. Grahams one is the only one in the block though with a large fan which made sitting out in the noonday heat quite pleasant. He also has a wee safe built in though security in the place is pretty good.... Queens gardens is well placed for everything.. there are several quite good resteraunts very close by. A mini market across the road which provided all the essentials, a quite good bar with sports showing on TV to the right of that. Cheap car hire along the road, (we got a 7 seater for 50Euro a day) Bar street is about 10 minutes walk away and hots up about midnight. They do that buy one get one free plus a free shot which when there are 30 of you means you need a sodding big table.... The harbour is also about 10 minutes away as well, we did a fishing trip which was a bit rough and caught about 4 sardines, not a lot of fish left there, Guess the spanish got them all..... Food in Paphos is variable but I highly recommend Fat Mamas (2 mins) which serves huge portions of well cooked steaks and ribs etc (also dancers who were surprisingly good) A Japanese place off bar street (Cant remember the name) which was seriously expensive but as good as any place I have ever eaten in, two and a half hours of superb food and teppanyaki entertainment, very good atmosphere and splendid saki.... Also down at the harbour a large seafood place called Posieden, (green awning), great food and service, not too expensive, surrounded by cak tourist shops that kept the kids entertained for hours...... Bad points.... Almost none. Right next door is a huge building site however whilst wee were there, all worked had stopped due to them finding some old archaeology stuff. If the building site starts up again, it might get a bit noisy and dusty during the day although I doubt it would matter much. The island has had some recent electricity issues however talking to Roy, it did not seem to affect them much. Cyprus generally is not cheap. Wifi Access from Leak cost about 30 euro for two weeks but ok speed wise and worked throughout the apartment. Good points... Great apartment, great apartment complex, great pool, easy access to everything. This place is family oriented and most of the apartments are occupied by their owners so making noise at late at night is highly not reccomended. (sorry for that everyone but it was a wedding) everyone was actually very friendly and we spent many evenings just sitting by the pool chatting with locals. If this sounds nauseatingly good, I have to say it was possibly the best holiday we have had in many years. We will be going back.

Thank you from No 8, what else can I say after this great review except I look forward to hearing from you again when you decide to come back. This is our first Trip Advisor review but we have several more each year along these lines in our Holiday Lettings advert - please have a look. Graham.
