Location description from owner

The Tyne and Wear region

World-class culture, vibrant nightlife, award-winning dining, inspiring heritage, fantastic shopping and acclaimed architecture are all linked here! So many wonderful places to enjoy City, Countryside and Coastal!

With easy access to the A1, which will take you further north to Alnwick and the Heritage Coast, where a day can be spent exploring the many historic castles and friendly villages set amongst unspoilt golden sandy beaches. Not too far away is the Metro Centre - one of the largest shopping centres in Europe with an abundance of shops and eateries. For cricket fans, Durham County Cricket Club's ground, 'The Riverside', is a short drive away at Chester-le-Street.

The North East is a great place for out door enthusiasts, nature and wildlife lovers and those who enjoy sports. You can do everything from dry slope skiing, quad biking and gliding, to angling, sea fishing, sailing, golf, tennis, cycling, walking, pony trekking, horse riding and diving. In fact there is so much to do, you'll need to stay quite a while to enjoy it all!

Quayside

Newcastle is known the world over as the North East's cultural and party capital, with its Quayside the perfect place for fine dining, bars, cafes and culture courtesy of The Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art, The Sage Gateshead, and The Millennium Bridge joining the two banks.

Home to the annual Tall Ships Race every summer, Newcastle Quayside is a thriving and interesting spot.

Newcastle has great shopping and arts facilities, as well as museums and art galleries.

The Theatre Royal is a stunning building with many interesting theatrical productions, ballets, operas and pantomimes at Christmas.

The historical background of Newcastle marks it as one of the most important cities in the UK. Once a Roman garrison town it was the site of a fortress and to this day has parts of Hadrian's Wall still evident through the city centre. Starting from Wallsend, Hadrian's Wall sweeps across the landscape to the west coast.
