Location description from owner

The Algarve region

Welcome to the Algarve

Algarve. Wherever you look for the nature of the mountains or the blue sea, here you have it. You get a mixture of golden sand, beutiful green moutains and a blue sea.
Here you have some of Europe's best beaches, some with beutiful red rocky coastline. The beaches stretch for miles with calm seas and safe bathing. It's also known for golf and there are some amazing courses for all levels of golfers.

I suggest fish and shellfish if your day is close to the sea. Such as dishes as “caldeirada de peixe” (fish-stew) or “cataplana algarvia” (clams steamed in a copper pan), "ameijoas à bulhão pato", grilled sardines. If your day is at an interior local city you can also enjoy the traditional mountain food of stewed chickpeas and cabbage. The range of choices will also include the famous regional delicacies, such as figs, almonds, and the brandy made from the locally grown medronho (arbutus-berry), distilled up in the hills in old copper stills.

There are lots of great places to explore. Here are some suggestions: Faro Old Town is worth a visit; Loulé typical town market on saturday mornings where the farmers bring there goods to sell; The village of Alte high up in the mountains.

One of the Algarve's top destinations for families and couples holidays.

A great tree lined promenade and glorious beach. Great restaurants, coffee shops and a lot of evening entertainment.

The Aqua Show water park boasts the longest water roller-coaster in Europe is located 5-10 minutes away.
Go to Zoo Marine and swim with the dolphins. About 20 minutes away and well worth a day visit.
Go-Karting tracks for all age groups in Almancil is 10 minutes away.

Water activities with boat trips, water skiing, nature trips to explore the islands and more 2 min away - Vilamoura.

“Wonderful apartment in a great setting”

Reviewed 16 Oct 2016

We stayed at this lovely apartment last month. We were very impressed on arrival at seeing the high standard of the decoration and fittings. The view from the lounge is spectacular and we loved watching the sun setting each evening. Just outside the apartment building is an amazing bakery and around the corner are restaurants, bars and a small supermarket for basic needs. A little further on and you're on the beautiful promenade. Quarteira has a beautiful sandy beach and a good selection of restaurants. Nearby Vilamoura and Loulé are both worth a visit. I would like to thank Nolita who made the booking easy to do and was always quick at responding to emails. Thank you to Idalia and her husband who met us at the apartment and brought fruit, wine and fruit juice for us. They were quick at sorting out a problem we were having with the internet. Nothing seemed too much trouble. I would certainly recommend this lovely apartment.

A very special thank you to Idallia and Adelberto for making us feel so welcome and for the extra touches which made us feel at home. Also appreciated being picked up and dropped off at the train station, especially for our early departure time. Any questions we had were answered right away. Thank you Nolita for making the booking process easy and keeping in touch to make sure we were satisfied. We spent 9 days at this apartment - exactly as advertised and shown in the photos. The view from the living room is wonderful looking down the promenade and beach to Villamoura, but especially watching the sunsets each evening. The apartment is supplied with everything you need for dining in. The bakery across the street is wonderful, open every day. The small grocery store on the side street was closed due to the time of year but less than 10 minutes walk is the Algartalhos Supermercados, which has a large selection of products, including fresh meats and bakery. We did go to the Lidl Supermarket but didn't find the selection as good. On Wednesday's there is an open air market (couple of blocks past the Tourism office), wonderful selection of fresh produce, i.e. fruits, vegetables, fish, cheese, etc. There is also the indoor fish market and fruit and vegetable market at the very end of the promenade, which is open daily. On Saturday, there is a large indoor and outdoor market held in Loule - definitely worth the bus trip. Variety of restaurants and shops are spread along the promenade. We enjoyed spending our days walking the promenade and beach in both directions, enjoying the beautiful sunny warm temperatures. A perfect spot which we look forward to returning to.

Owner's reply: Thank you for such lovely and positive words. It was our pleasure to have you as our guests and we really hope to see you on your next visit to Portugal/Quarteira. We are very happy you loved your stay here. We do our best to make it easy. About close up supermarkets: You did not mention here another close up supermarket just on the back ave. (Much closer than Algarvetalhos) So I think you might have missed on it. It is also very good and handy. On your next visit make sure we show you where it is. Thank you once again.

“Fantastic Apartment”

Reviewed 28 Oct 2014

Firstly we would like to say that the photos on Holiday lettings do not do this apartment justice. On our arrival, the apartment was far better than the photos depicted. The owners Idalia and Alderberto have renovated this apartment to a very high standard indeed with great care to detail being taken throughout. The airport collection and drop off is a very nice touch. We were met at the airport very promptly by Idalia and Alderberto. We had a small tour with them of their local town Loule which is next to Quarteira. On arrival, the apartment was stunning and was absolutely spotless. Idalia had put a large bowl of fruit a bottle of wine and some other small provisions in the apartment, even down to bottles of shower gel in both shower rooms. The apartment has a very modern kitchen which was spotless. We found the whole booking process from initial contact to arrival a very positive experience indeed. The apartment itself is literally across the promenade from the fabulous beach. The views from the apartment lounge are stunning especially when the sun is dropping into the sea at dusk. There are several restaurants up and down the promenade. A small grocery store is located just opposite the apartment block, and right opposite the main apartment block entrance is a small bakery which bakes fresh bread and cakes all day. Idalia and Alderberto are very attentive to all your needs and respond very quickly to any concerns you may have while you are there. We had two minor problems while in the apartment, both of which were dealt with wthin an hour of notifying them. What more can you ask. Only two very small observations. The apartment would benefit from having a dvd player for those who take children with them. And possibly the provision of two small pans in the kitchen to warm up small food items. All in all a very positive experience and a wonderful holiday. We are already looking at our future schedules to see if and when we can return. Well done Idalia, Alderbero and family. Martin and Julie Cheshire

Owner's reply: Thank you very much for having chosen our apartment and for sharing your experience with the traveller community. It gave us great pleasure to have you as our guests and to read the 5* review of your recent stay with us. Thank you very much for taking such good care of our apartment and for your constructive suggestions. We will make sure we will have them at apartment very soon. Once again, thank you for this lovely feedback and we truly hope to get the opportunity to welcome you back.

“Modern & Comfortable”

Reviewed 29 Jun 2014

From the collection at the airport our stay was totally relaxing. The apartment benefits everything you could need for your stay. Having clothes washing facilities along with beach accessories was great. Everything you could need was close by including a fantastic pastry shop. We would definitely return!!

Owner's reply: I am happy to hear you enjoyed my apartment and its location. We endeavour to offer a positive experience for all of our guests. I hope we get to see you again in the near future. Thank you again.

“Lovely apartment, very well appointed”

Reviewed 25 Apr 2014

A very comfortable apartment, well located, well furnished and finished to a very high standard. We were well looked after from being picked up at the airport, given a guided tour of the local area, getting a welcome basket of fruit and bottle of wine and getting dropped back to the airport. A well located apartment owned by someone who ares about her guests, really enjoyed our stay.

Owner's reply: Thnak you very much for your positive words on this review and thank you for taking such good care of my apartment. Hope to see you again one day.

“Wonderful apartment - great location !”

Reviewed 1 Oct 2013

We booked this accommodation only a few days before our trip and how lucky we were to find this beautiful apartment still available! Nolita helped us throughout the booking with excellent and speedy communication enabling us to book our flights with confidence. On arrival at the airport Nolita's parent's Adalberto and Idalia were there to warmly greet us and drive us to the apartment. They even gave us a tour of Quinta da Lago on the way there which was lovely. On arrival at Quarteira they showed us around the apartment and which has been refurbished to a very high standard and is spotlessly clean and well equipped throughout. The views out to the beautiful beach just metres away were lovely and the sunsets amazing each evening. It was so nice to come back to this lovely apartment each evening after a long day out on the beach or after a walk to Vilamoura which is a 30 minute pleasant walk along the promenade. Dont miss the bakery across the road for your hot morning rolls and for afternoon cakes - delicious! There are many restaurants cafes and bars close to the apartment and a car is not necessary if you just want a good rest and Quarteira offers all the peace and relaxation you could wish for and has a traditional Portuguese feel about it. I would highly recommend this apartment if you choose Quarteira for your holiday. Together with the friendliness and warmth of the owners and their daughter Nolita it all adds up to a super holiday!

“Gorgeous apartment in an ideal location”

Reviewed 11 Aug 2013

This was our first family holiday in Portugal with our children aged 10 and 8 and I have to say it was a great trip due in part to the apartment and the family that own it. The apartment is ideally situated, literally 2 minutes walk from the promenade and the beach, which made it easy to pop back and forth during the day. We did have plans to undertake day trips to other towns but in the end spent the majority of our time in Quarteira (on it's beach). The apartment itself was spacious, decorated to a high standard, spotlessly clean with 2 modern bathrooms and equipped with everything you would need. The beautiful beach views from around the apartment are exactly as shown in the photographs. There are several good and reasonably priced restaurants located near to the apartment. As mentioned by previous reviewers, there is a bakery opposite the apartment block entrance with delicious cakes. Quarteira itself has a safe and family orientated vibe about it and the promenade was always full of families late into the evening. Finally a thank you to Nolita and her parents, Idalia and Alderberto. The booking process with Nolita was easy and straightforward. Her parents picked us from the Airport as well as dropping us off for the return flight (at 6am in the morning!). They all speak fluent English so there were no communication problems. They were very helpful, showing us around the town and giving recommendations when we arrived as well as being available at the end of the phone all week for queries and help. We found them to be warm, kind and considerate people. In summary, I would definitely recommend to others.

Owner's reply: Thank you very much for such positive words Aj. We do our best to help having a 100% holiday. I would like to say we also loved having your family at our apartment. Thank you for taking such good care of it. Hope to see you again one day!

“Lovely apartment”

Reviewed 9 Dec 2012

I stayed in this apartment in October and would recommend this accommodation for winter or summer sunshine. Nolita made the booking process effortless and her lovely parents collected me from the airport. They couldn't have been more friendly. The apartment is in a good location and it was spotlessly clean. There are several shops, bars and restaurants nearby. There is a lovely bakery at the back of the apartment and a decent supermarket about five minutes walk away. The bus station is a short walk away but taxis are cheap and plentiful. For those who fancy a walk, it is about thirty minutes walk into Villamoura. Thanks for a great holiday.

“A stunning apartment in an excellent location. I would definatley stay here again!”

Reviewed 4 Nov 2012

This beautifully decorated apartment is in an excellent location, with everything that you need close by. The appartment is fully equipt with all appliances, cooking and cleaning equiptment, and is very clean and comfortable. Booking this holiday was very easy, with regular communication throughout. The family are lovely - even taking us to and from the airport for our flights! I would highly recommend this apartment and look forward to returning again in the future. Thank you!

“Wonderful Apartment ! Stress free holiday!”

Reviewed 30 Aug 2012

We are a family of 5 2 adults and 3 children ages 12,11 and 6. Thankyou to Nolita, Idhalia and Alderberto for a wonderful stress free holiday. The Apartment was great clean and beautifully decorarted, the location was great right near lovely restaurants and a lovely beach. Great Views from the apartment, Our children loved the Bed that turned into 3! The bakery over the road was lovely always baking so very fresh croissants. We recommend the restaurant Fantasia next door to the apartment very friendly staff and helpful, and lovely food in large portions. We felt very safe here inside and out of the apartment and on the beach, although the sea sometimes was quite rough so not very safe for children who cannot swim. It did calm down on our second week and when it was calm it felt safer and there were lifeguards always patrolling. We also recommend Aqua show which was only a five minute taxi ride and it was brilliant we went in our second week but I would have gone twice if I could. The only issue was getting a taxi home as the park was very busy no taxis were coming in so we had a drink at the hotel next door, waited for the crowds to go and ordered a taxi which cost more but we got home! Again Idahlia, Alderberto and Nolita were so helpful and spoke fluent english and helped make our first holiday in Portugal a very relaxing and stress free stay.

Owner's reply: Thank you for such a positive review. Im glad you loved your stay. Hope to see you again soon.
