Location description from manager

The Island of Malta region

Malta lies in the heart of the Mediterranean Sea, halfway between Europe's mainland and North Africa. The archipelago consists of 6 islands with a total area of only 216 sq km. Malta and Gozo are the two largest islands. Comino is small and sparsely populated, while Cominotto, Filfla, and St.Paul's Islands have no inhabitants.

The Malta may be small, but still has lots to offer visitors! It's sea, rocky coastlines, high cliffs and scattered sandy beaches add to the island's beauty. There are no rivers or mountains, but the Island's hills offer a wonderful landscape to contrast with the towns and villages.

Malta is a place for diversity. You could spend a day walking around the narrow winding streets of the medieval city Mdina, and then enjoy the nightlife that Sliema, St.Julians and Bugibba offer. Alternatively you could visit one of the prehistoric temples like the Hal Saflieni Hypogeum and Hagar Qim, both of which are included in the Unesco World Heritage list, and then enjoy some hours of sunshine on the golden beaches around the island.

Qawra

Situated directly alongside Bugibba on the northeast coast of Malta, Qawra is also part of the St Paul's Bay area. There are many hotels, bars, restaurants and nightlife options and Qawra also has a very long, attractive seafront promenade offering beautiful views.

Swimming in the sea and pools are popular and jet ski, parascending and scuba diving etc are all available. All types of shops can be found and as for public transport, Qawra even has its own bus terminus.

Along with Bugibba, it is a very popular resort for a Malta holiday. Qawra certainly has plenty to offer the holidaymaker.

“Cold damp and miserable!”

Reviewed 3 Jan 2017

Arrived at this apartment 2 days before christmas looking forward to a nice break but unfortunately this was not the case. On arriving at the apartment I could see and feel it was extremely cold. There is no proper heating here, we were told by the assistant who gave the keys there was only air conditioning unit in bedrooms but no means of heating the lounge area, which was very large and dark. On contacting the owners telling them how cold we were, we waited 24 hours for a response, saying they were away and would send someone with a gas heater. The next evening he came with a small one bar electric heater which was totally inadequate for purpose doing nothing to give any real heat. No gas cylinder sent as promised. As it was now christmas eve and we were fed up miserable and could take the cold no more we were forced to check into a local hotel over christmas just so we could be warm and comfortable. The owners have been totally negligent in providing a good quality warm place to stay and after contacting them, was merely told if we werent satisfied we should have let them know. What were they going to do? They had cleared off for the xmas hols, probably somewhere nice and warm and left us freezing in a stone cold apartment. Ironically on the day of departure the assistant turned up with a gas cylinder which he said he had trouble finding before, so all was well for the next guests I assume. Well thanks a lot! So our christmas was ruined by a thoughtless owner who gladly took our rental money (hiked up for christmas) and provided inadequate accommodation in return. Would not be recommending this place to anyone I'm afraid.

Hi Barbara, Thanks for taking the time to leave this review for our apartment. I am sorry to hear that your stay wasn't as pleasant as you would have expected. I take customer feedback very seriously especially when it's genuine and constructive but in your case I am afraid that your comments are not completely true. To start with I want to point out that you have chosen to visit Malta in the coldest period of the year and if you research online you will see that our houses are not really well built to weather cold weather. Having said that, the Air-conditioning systems and heaters we supply are good enough to keep a nice warm temperature in the apartment. The problem might be that you are used to central heating in the UK and obviously when you stayed in our apartment you experienced a notable difference. When you raised your concern regarding the heating, we have taken immediate action and sent you an electric heater which I assure you is powerful enough to heat up the living area. Since you have not complained anymore that you were still feeling cold I assumed that you were happy. On the other hand, if you contacted me and informed me that you were still feeling cold I would have sent you one or two more heaters but you actually didn't and you only spoke about this issue now that your stay is over. Therefore I am afraid that it's not fair to speak about this problem as you only had to communicate to me for it to be resolved. It is true that I was away on vacation but I was constantly in communication with you via email and my phone was on all the time. I also left you the number of my assistant in case you needed something urgent but from the day we provided you with the electric heater we have not heard anything from you so how could I be aware that you were still feeling cold? I am afraid that your biased feedback is just a way to express your frustration at the unfortunate circumstances that you visited Malta in one of the coldest weeks ever recorded. It is really not fair to say such comments when all you had to do is speak up and I would have resolved this issue for you. Thx Aaron
