The South Wales region

The north coast of Pembrokeshire has cliffs and coves, places to explore and enjoy. Visitors will find attractive and affordable places to visit and eat in. The National Park includes a swathe of open country in the Prescelli hills which are very close to Dinas village (1 mile). Pwllgwaelod is a sandy cove facing Fishguard bay, and Cwm-yr-Egwys a similar cove facing Newport Bay. These beaches provide safe swimming and have natural shelter. The area has plenty of history - ancient chapels, monuments and burial sites, and St Davids Cathedral.

Pwllgwaelod

Riding, boats and swimming, walking, and some great off-road bike trails make N Pembs a place for where you can enjoy activities at reasonable prices and without crowds. There's a lot of culture, Brynhenllan village having a number of well known artists as residents. The St Davids music festival in the cathedral, the Fishguard Music Festival and other music activities such as Cardigan Eisteddfod, male voice choirs all provide different and memorable evenings. Being outside busy Newport can be a bonus in the summer season. You can borrow my 14ft Skipper dinghy if you're a competent sailor. There is a bike at the cottage, and another available.

“A good location which allowed us to do a great deal in the area.”

Reviewed 23 Oct 2016

Coastal walks very close and cottage has all the amenities we needed. Newport has some excellent eating places and the Old Sailors pub at the bottom of the hill has good pub food.

“Excellent stay”

We spent two wonderful weeks at the cottage. The beach is not far away and there is everything you need. There is only one thing that was missing according to our teenage children which was the internet. It's a perfect place to explore the area and taste the local food at the restaurant down at the beach. We had a lovely holiday.

I'm so pleased your family enjoyed the cottage and its immediate surroundings. You're very welcome back! Mike

“A pretty, cosy and comfortable cottage in a beautiful location.”

This cottage was as described, and provided us with a pleasant, cosy base to be with friends and explore the beautiful Pembrokeshire coast.

So glad your time at Pencraig was enjoyable. The cottage is in a lovely part of Pembrokeshire.

“Fabulous cottage, great location, perfect break.”

Reviewed 30 May 2012

The cottage is immaculate, light, airy, quiet and totally relaxing. Its a 5-8 minute walk to your choice of two unbelievably picturesque beaches one with a good resturant/pub. Lots of great hiking around the hills and coastal path direct from your door. Newport and Fishguard are a ten minute drive away. We will be returning in the autumn if we can wait that long! Thanks to Mike our host who gave us good local advice and was a relaxed and genrous host. Five star all the way.

Thank you so much for your kind review and I'm very pleased to hear that you want to come again.

“cosy, comfortable, full of character”

Pencraig is a wonderful, get away from it all holiday cottage. It's well equipped, cosy and has a wealth of books, games and art to keep you amused inside, plus there are two tables to sit at outside. It's situated in an ideal position - halfway between two beaches, with the spectacular coastal path to walk between them. Both the village stores (which has won awards for being so friendly and helpful) and the garage are great places to shop - try their honey and spelt bread and the local organic cheese. The Preseli hills are a great place for food - try and get some of the local honey if you can, it smells of freshly mown grass and gorse flowers. Wherever you go, there is something to discover and this being Wales, everyone is friendly and helpful. Mike, the cottage owner, is very helpful and an extremely interesting person. We had a fantastic week here!

Thank you so much for the kind comments to myself and the property. So glad you enjoyed it sounds like you had a amazing time discovering what wales had to offer. Thank you.

“A Cottage full of character in a beautiful location”

Reviewed 29 Sep 2011

This was a perfect holiday cottage for a family of 4. Well equipped, deceptively spacious and a real little home from home. Cwym-yr-Eglwys beach is a perfect spot for fishing, boating, swimming and snorkelling - and our 7 and 10 year old children could walk there safely on their own without having to use any main roads. The local shop in Dinas Cross (10 mins stroll) stocks pretty much everything you'll need, plus Newport and Fishguard are a short drive away. Newport has lots of fantastic cafes and restaurants. To sum up - a perfect holiday destination. We will definitely return.

Thank you for the positive review and I'm glad you have enjoyed your stay.
