Location description from owner

The Occitanie region

Popularly known as the Languedoc,it is the central region of the south of France; it stretches from the Rhone valley in the east, to the Spanish border in the south west. The coast of Languedoc is characterised by long sandy beaches, often with plenty of space, and a modern tourist infrastructure, with twentieth-century resorts such as Cap d'Agde, Palavas, or Narbonne Plage.

Inland Languedoc is a beautiful area, characterised by vineyards and "garrigue", arid rocky Mediteranean hills with their vegetation of scrub, aromatic bushes and occasional fields. Further inland, the valleys of the Cevennes, more wooded and rural, give way to the Cevennes hills, the southeastern peaks of the Massif Central. The area has a lot of historic cities, such as Nimes with its superb Roman remains, the famous walled city of Carcassonne, the former Roman provincial capital of Narbonne, and other smaller ancient cities, such as Agde

Puisserguier

Puisserguier is a typical southern French wine village. It lies close to the Mediterranean Sea. Puisserguier has a history that goes back to medieval times and belongs to a type of village called the circulades This kind of architecture dates from the Romanesque period where the streets are built in concentric circles around the base of the chateau. As early as 1146 Puisserguier was known as Podium Serigarium, and then later became Puecherguier.

It is equi-distant from Beziers (15k), Narbonne (18k) and the Mediterranean (20k). It is at the foothills of the Espinouse mountains and the Parc Natural du Haute Languedoc. The countryside is full of vineyards interspaced with small villages with cafes, restaurants and regular markets. The town has 2 cafes (which serve food) and two restaurants (one on the little square). There is a supermarket, chemist shops, hair dressers and other food shops in the village.
