The Canary Islands region
Isla de Tenerife
Two World Heritage, a National Park and 42 natural protected areas, these are some of the treasures you'll discover in Tenerife . Alone, with your partner, in the company of friends or family, be prepared to live unique experiences thanks to the wide range of activities that will make unforgettable your stay in the island.
The Rural Park of Teno, in the municipality of Buenavista del Norte (the Isla Baja region), is where one can find the deepest ravines of the island. Here, surrounded by amazing escarpments, lies the hamlet of Masca. This picturesque hamlet, which has been declared an area of ethnographical and architectural interest, is one of the best examples of the Canary Island´s natural architecture and in principle has been preserved due to the sheer difficulty in gaining access to the hamlet until recent years.
WHALE AND DOLPHIN WATCHING
The south-west coast of Tenerife is a truly outstanding location for the observation of free-living whales as there are colonies of pilot whales and dolphins which remain here throughout the year. They live so close to the coast that Tenerife has become the most important place in Europe for the number of persons who carry out free-living-whale-watching.
You can find up to twenty-one different species in these waters from the giant blue whale to the frightening killer whale. There are two resident populations, the pilot whale and the bottlenose dolphin, which can be observed on perhaps 80% of the days of the year, with a sighting percentage of close to 100%.
An opportunity that you should not allow to slip through your fingers as there are few locations on Earth which offer this wide range at such a tiny distance from your hotel. Half a million people who visit our whales each year can't be wrong.
Located in the heart of the small tourist resort of Puerto Santiago, La Arena beach stands out for its excellent setting and extraordinary amount of light. The beach is 120 metres long with fine volcanic sand and a full range of facilities. There are a number of restaurants and shops, and the nearby hotels make for one of the most family-friendly beaches for locals and visitors alike. Blue Flag.
The Gigantes Cliffs offer some of the most spectacular scenery on Tenerife. Their impressive sheer faces drop from heights of 600 metres in some places. At the foot of these cliffs is the seabed at a depth of 30 metres: it contains a rich marine life that attracts both diving and sports fishing enthusiasts.
