Port de Pollenca

We are pleased to present a selection of Puerto Pollensa villas to rent. Puerto Pollensa is, without any doubt, one of the most attractive municipalities of the island. It’s for some reason that it was one of the areas where tourism started, besides being a preferred destination of painters and artists since the beginning of this century. From the scenic point of view, Pollensa is full of contrasts, and a quite big part of the so-called “Sierra de Tramontana” with its steep mountains and its deep valleys, which in many cases end in most beautiful and lonely bays, where the blue of the sea mixes with the grey of the limestone rocks and the brilliant green of the pine trees, is situated within its municipality. Here, the cultural and artistic life never stops. There are a lot of art galleries and beautiful handicraft shops. During nearly all the year one con enjoy a variety of musical events, among which the most famous ones are those that take place in the Santo Domingo Cloister. The cosmopolitan character is due to the fact that a lot of Europeans have their holiday villa in Puerto Pollensa, and many live permanently in the area. The municipality of Pollensa comprises, apart from the old town, two further townships, the PORT OF POLLENSA and CALA SANT VICENÇ, two coastal towns with a well-defined and different personality, due to the fact that they are situated in two settings with completely different geographical and scenic characteristics. Port de Pollensa is famous since many years for its outstanding beauty and its scenic variety, being the deepest and most closed bay of Mallorca. In this bay you’ll find enclaves as exclusive as Formentor. Pollença has the best climate for nature lovers, for playing golf, nautical sports and excursions . The best hikes to make in the North Mallorca are trips to the Puig de María, the Castell del Rei, Vall de Ternelles and “La Atalaia de Albercutx”. Also the Formentor Peninsula offers some lovely excursions, to the mountains Na Blanca and En Fumat for Example. Or visit one of the isolated bays, such as Cala Boquer, Cala Sant Vicenç or Cala Castell, these you can also find on the peninsular of Formentor.

“Needs some TLC”

Reviewed 30 Jun 2015

We stayed in Can Cisco and were disappointed with the villa. Negatives first: The high chair for the baby - the tray would not attach to the chair and we had to wedge our 9 month old in against a table and rely on the straps to keep her safe. The straps were dirty and despite a lot of attempts could not be cleaned up. This needs replacing. The travel cot was very uncomfortable and the mattress did not fit the cot. This needs replacing. The garden was alive with ants so much so that they swarmed up your legs if you stood in the grass. We complained about this and told the gardener would come and spray - this did not happen so we bought our own stuff and did it ourselves. There is no air conditioning so we relied on fans but the one in our bedroom did not work and the only way to stay cool was to leave the doors and windows open at night and risk being eaten alive by the mossies. The kettle was of very poor quality and leaked out boiling water so we had to stand it on an absorbant cloth or risk being scalded. The furniture in the lounge was uncomfortable and there was only a 2 seater cane settee and several cane chairs. Not condusive to relaxing. The range of cooking utensils was very limited. Only 4 mugs for 8 people for example but about 50 plates!! The knob which controlled the timer on the oven was faulty and actually fell off repeatedly so using the oven was unreliable as it would turn itself off from time to time. One of the umbrellas provided was shredded - why leave something that is so shoddy. Why not just remove it. Shows a lack of attention to detail. There were a huge amount of personal old fashioned decorative items such as dried flowers which if this was my villa (and I know it isn't) would have been removed to give a cleaner more modern feel. I appreciate this is a traditional villa but just looks like it needs some updating and TLC. The pictures on the Solmar Villas website have obviously taken by a very good photographer and lead you to think there is more garden around the pool than is actually the case. Having said all this, we had a great time. The pool was great and essential given the hot temperatures. All these negative comments above were not massive in themselves, just left us feeling a little disappointed as this holiday was to celebrate a landmark event . I would not book this villa again - looking at next year's prices of £1800 for the same week, that is not value for money. We paid £1300 and feel a bit cheated.
