Location description from owner

The Balearic Islands region

Originally a fishing village, Puerto Pollenca retains the time old tradition of the evening paseo or stroll. On warm evenings families and couples wander up and down the marina, sit in one of the many pavement cafes and watch the world go by.

The apartment is in easy reach of the old town of Pollenca, about 4km away, and with its Roman Bridge and 365 step Calvery, it is also a great base for keen walkers and cyclists. The market comes to Puerto Pollenca every Wednesday and sells excellent local produce as well as those favorite holiday trinkets to take home with you.

Port de Pollenca

Just 40 min from airport situated within a quaint tranquil family resort of Puerta Pollensa.

It is a just a 2-minute-walk from the beautiful and small private beaches along the famous pine walk on one side, and there are larger beaches in the other direction towards the marina/ yacht club.
It is a 1-minute-walk to the main square and restaurants, and just 30 seconds from the local newly opened gymnasium fitness centre.

There are many bike and boat hire shops, horse riding schools, tennis clubs, scuba diving, water sports, canoeing and sailing courses near the main beach.

The pine walk is the pedestrian walkway that starts from the Vora Mar supermarket and continues along to the Illa D'or hotel and beyond. The walkway got its name due to all the wonderful pine trees that shade the beach along the whole length of it. It really is a magical place with lots of lovely restaurants and bars dotted along it. A trip to Puerto Pollensa is not complete without at least one visit there.

Behind the pine walk is the Carretera Formentor road which leads to the military base that houses the super scooper sea planes that are used to fight fire in the mountains. Follow the Formentor road on past the military base and you will eventually reach the beautiful secluded Formentor. Formentor is just 10 minutes on the local glass bottom boat with private beaches, and it is a 5 minute taxi ride to Pollensa town, a rustic medieval town with lots of festivals. The mountain journey is one that is well worth going on and the views on the way there are spectacular (it is worth stopping at the lighthouse as well if you have a hire car). For those without a car there is a very good public bus to Formentor which leaves frequently from the bus terminus at the marina.

Finally, it is a 40-minute drive to the famous pirates show in Magaluf and charming cosmopolitan city of Palma with its iconic cathedral great shopping boutiques and famous Cort de ingles department store. A fantastic catered for all round family summer holiday, good warm weather from April / May to October.

“Location location location”

Reviewed 3 Sep 2016

I am going to start with location as frankly this is what made it for us. This apartment is in a great location. In a quiet side street just off the main market square, this was a great spot for myself and my 5 and 3 year old. Pre-booking, I was reassured by other reviewers claiming it to be quiet and it's true, the apartment is very quiet. If you're reading this review for a sense of the apartment block as a whole, beware, the front apartments overlook the front street which is noisy during the market set up and there is a night club which runs until past 4am directly opposite!! We couldn't hear a thing though and only realised when we had to leave for the airport when the street had quite a different air! There is no sense of that at all during the day. There is a little play park diagonally across the road for pre-schoolers and the square itself is a great draw for little ones to show a little independence- under your watchful eye whilst you enjoy food in one of the restaurants and cafes around the square. Its about 5 minutes' walk to the sea front and the small town beaches, although with little legs in the August heat, we'd drive the 5 mins to the larger (cleaner, cheaper sunbeds) beaches at the Alcudia end of the town. You don't need a car to be here, in fact I would encourage you not to get one if you're here. We struggled to park on the street some days and you can;t park there Tues afternoon- Weds afternoons due to the market, although the big car park 0.5km away never let us down. The apartment itself was good- nicely set up, fairly recently refurnished with nice Ikea pieces- lovely big squishy corner sofa, new beds with soft mattresses, crisp cotton duvet covers, big fluffy towels, and a generally high standard, clean, but let down a little by the fact that the small room really needs a lick of paint- walls were rather grubby. It's really roomy overall, although I should flag that the door to the 3rd room won't close as the room isn't quite big enough to house the twin beds in it- not a problem if you have children in there, but not ideal if you're in a group of friends!! There is a fantastic balcony/ terrace overlooking the pool which is massive and runs the full length of the apartment, with perfect outdoor furniture- dining set and loungers. There is a big gas barbecue which unfortunately previous renters hadn't cleaned- shame on you if that's you!!!!!!- but we made good use of. If you have small kids, this balcony is slightly problematic, the railings are NOT child friendly, being too low and too climb-able, which the owners have identified and installed a wooden "child gate" which keeps the eating area secure. Unfortunately the gate was broken when we got there, but I reported it to Belinda who responded promptly and it was fixed during the week. Its a shame the railings aren't better as it limited how we could use the outside space. Not a disaster though- the outdoor pool area is great. Its huge, and def nicer than the images suggest. The pool was fantastic- toddler section is divided from the main pool and a really good size. I'd been a bit concerned by the reviews about the cleanliness of the pool which were posted after I'd booked- I couldn't SEE any muck in it, but I did notice that the pool isn't particularly well chlorinated. Certainly no guano problem while we were there. The girls loved it and we went every day. On most days there was only one other family there. The place was well catered for for children with lots of plastic cutlery and plates , high chair (another Ikea classic) and travel cot, although families with under 6's you will need to take DVDs as there is only a limited Freeview (minus) service range of channels which didn't include CBeebies! Made enforced siesta quiet time trickier. The air con was essential we had some boiling hot days- and it worked well. We found the apartment hard to find- largely due to the labyrinthine one way system in Puerto Pollensa and hampered by the fact that my friend had mispelled the address so we couldn't find it on Google maps!! Belinda was a star when I rang her for help- weirdly we realised we'd parked right outside the apartment door. It's a plain glass door marked way above your head, so you need your wits about you to find it. The key pick up spot was easy to find- about 5 mins walk across the square, although I didn't love my 3.45 am negotiation through drunks and revellers to drop it back off again! Again, it was a bit of a shocker as during our stay we didn't see any bad behaviour in the area. We had a great time and would definitely consider returning.

“Ticked all the right boxes - clean, spacious, facilities, location.”

We (family of 4 - mum, dad, 8 & 12 year olds) are just back from 2 weeks staying at this apartment. I'm pleased to say that it lived up to our expectations. A fantastic location (for the square, beach, cafes, bars, the many superb restaurants, weekly market [literally on the door step] and of course the Pine Walk). Extremely spacious rooms including a 'massive' balcony with gas BBQ thrown in. The X-box got a great reaction from our 12 year-old and the Wi-Fi was 100% reliable. On-site beach towels saved loads of hassle as well. We had one problem when we were there (a dodgy WC!) and it was fixed within hours via Belinda in the UK and Martin in Puerto Pollensa. All in all a great place to stay.

“An excellent apartment with all amenities closeby.”

A very comfortable spacious apartment with everything you would need. Very clean, with extras that add further comfort e.g. quality bed linen, plenty of comfortable seating. Large balcony, again allowing that 'spacious' feeling and an abundance of outdoor furniture.. This overlooking the well designed pool area, which was ideal for relaxing and sunbathing. It was in a convenient location; close to shops and restaurants.

“Fantastic apartment in a perfect location”

We stayed in apartment 3d for a week mid September. We honestly can't say enough good things about the apartment. It was so central it was perfect. The apartment was spotlessly clean and everything was provided you could need. The pool area is much bigger than it appears on the photos too. We enjoyed it so much we discussed revisiting and staying there again next year whilst we were still there!! Massive thanks to Belinda who assisted us with our booking.
