Puerto Del Carmen's Old Town was originally a small fishing village. It is a favourite place for tourists due to its breathtaking views from elevated positions looking over both the town and the harbour. Local bars and restaurants with great food and inexpensive prices are available within a stones throw from most properties in the Old Town. The area is a 10 minute walk away from the main bustling cosmopolitan resort and its vast beaches. No car is necessary to enjoy your holiday but should you decide to hire a car, most major tourist attractions are within easy reach from the apartment.
Puerto del Carmen hosts the Lanzarote Ironman event each May, the race starts with a swim at Playa Grande, then off around the island on bikes and ends with a marathon with laps from Playa Grande to Matagorda. There is a new golf course in the Puerto del Carmen area, situated above the resort on the road to Tas, which opened in late 2008.
For the children there is the wildlife park at Rancho Texas, in the evening there is a choice of line dancing or flamenco nights for both adults and children.
There are lots of individual shops along the strip and into the old town of Puerto del Carmen. If you fancy a wander around a shopping centre, head to the Biosfera, 10 minutes walk from the apartment.
If you fancy getting out of the resort but not hiring a car, head to Megafun at Costa Mar; they do a fabulous trek on quads across the island to Famara and back.

Puerto Del Carmen

Nestled on the coast in the southern central part of the island, it is only a 10 minute drive from Arrecife Airport and is a convenient place from which to explore Lanzarote's tourist and cultural attractions.
If sun and sea are your thing, then the 6 kilometer stretch of golden beaches washed by the waters of the Atlantic should be enough to tempt you. All of the beaches fly the Blue Flag awarded by the EEC for cleanliness and lack of contamination. The surrounding waters are considered to be some of the most tranquil in the Canary Islands; they are excellent for swimming and other water sports.
Carnival which takes place at the end of February to the beginning of March attracts many visitors from all over Europe, joining the local residents in their celebrations.
The end of July signals the Fiesta de Nuestra Señora del Carmen, patron saint of Puerto del Carmen. Visitors again make the population swell as folklore performances, singing and dancing fill the night until the early hours of the morning. Specially decorated fishing boats setting out to sea, to pray for good catches in the coming year, signals the end of this particular fiesta.
There are well over 100 restaurants on the Avenida de Las Playas alone, with menus to suit all tastes and budgets from fast food, through to high class gourmet eating.

“weeks holiday”

We stayed at this apartment some 10 years ago and it is nice to see that it has been suitably improved during this time. Comfortable and well equipped appartment with mid week cleaning and towel change. It has commanding views over the old town and harbour and is very well situated on the town outskirts with good car parking allowing easy touring of the island. Property is provided with a television by why would you need one with a view like this. Very well equipped with all that is needed for a self catering apartment but a must try is La Bamba restaurant only a few paces from the door, good value quality food and friendly staff. Coastal path takes you to Puerto Calero, it is really hard to critisize its position other than not being near a beach. Only problem whilst we were their was a leak in the pool which half full. Did not detract from our stay. The owner, Gemma, could not be more helpful always speedily responding to enquiries in a very friendly and positive manner. Whilst we had no problems during our stay I felt confident that she would have done all within her powers to resolve any issue.

This was our 13th holiday at Lago Verde since March 2007 and our 4th stay in apartment A5. Gemma and Jamie acquired the property fairly recently and have made a few useful improvements to an already excellently equipped and comfortable apartment. The booking process is straightforward and information on the apartment is comprehensive and sent with the booking confirmation. Gemma responds immediately to any problems should they arise. The TV system didn't operate in the way described leaving us without any recognisable content on dark January nights. We could play DVDs and CDs though. The apartment has a stunning panoramic view overlooking a small harbour and the sea. The spacious balcony catches the sun for most of the day until it sinks behind hills to the west giving spectacular sunsets. Part of the balcony is recessed and under cover for use of people who do not want to sit in the sun. The downside to an elevated apartment is the stiff climb from sea level. This is not too daunting for reasonably fit people and is in fact a good antidote to holiday indulgence. The views make the climb worthwhile and taxis are inexpensive for people who find it difficult. Lago Verde management services provide a friendly reception centre, Wi-Fi, cleaning and linen changes. Wi-Fi coverage in the apartment ranges from fair to non-existent. The quality of the linen is sometimes below standard and needs to be challenged. The service to the privately owned apartments does not cover replacing faulty electrical equipment. Lago Verde has a pool that is cleaned daily and good poolside amenities including a bar which serves a range of snacks. Local restaurants are good quality and value. In the harbour area restaurants serve fresh fish catches and tapas. Our favourite is the Mardeleva on Los Infantes, which has a covered terrace overlooking the old harbour. The island is a cultural jewel, the resort has something for everyone, the apartment is icing on the cake. Come and see for yourselves

The TV problem that you mention was addressed within 24 hours of you informing us about it; likewise the electrical appliance fault that occurred was that of a broken kettle which we clearly have no control over. You very kindly bought a replacement kettle for which we reimbursed you promptly and in excess of its cost. The apartment is advertised as not having Wi-Fi, however it is available on the complex. We hope to see you again in the near future.

The perfect place.location location location. The apartment was modern clean and close to everywhere you need to be. Amazing 180 degree views with private balcony for lazy nights. The pool was boutique friendly and the perfect place to hang out and play pool or have an afternoon or evening drink. Would highly recommend this luxurious unit and will be back..thanks for a great holiday...sincerely.
