Location description from owner

The Canary Islands region

The Canary Islands enjoy practically all year round good weather. They are nicknamed the Islands of Eternal Spring and temperatures rarely drop below 16ºC and rise to around 30ºCin the summer. The climate is influenced by the island close proximity to North Africa.

The flights are regular and direct and cheap flights can be found at www.skyscanner.net

As with the other Canary Islands, Lanzarote is Volcanic in origin. Due to the recent eruptions during the 18th and 19th Centuries, many parts of Lanzarote appear to be from another world, often described as 'lunar' or 'Martian'. The dry climate (and lack of erosion) means that the Volcanic Landscape appears much as it did just after the eruptions. Amongst the many stunning Volcanic features of Lanzarote is the longest Volcanic Tunnel in the world, the Atlantida Tunnel, which is over 7 km long and includes the La Cueva de los Verdes and Jameos del Agua.

For the more active, the island offers great surf at Famara, windsurfing at Costa Teguise and world-class sports training facilities at La Santa Sport. Local authority regulations on the amount and style of development mean that there is no billboard advertising and no high rise buildings in Lanzarote (with the exception of the Grand Hotel in Arrecife).

A good website for more tourist information is www.discoverlanzarote.com.

If hiring a car there are a lot of attractions, the best including Mirador del Rio, El Golfo, Jameos Del Agua and Timanfaya National Park.
www.discoverlanzarote.com is an excellent website for more details of the previous mentioned attractions.

Puerto Del Carmen

Puerto del Carmen offers 6km of broad, pale sandy beaches and because the local council have restricted development and building heights, the coastal area is still very attractive. The beaches offer water sports activities, including snorkelling and scuba diving and the area at the bottom of our road offer sunbeds and umbrellas. There are also beachside restaurants, arcades and even a casino.

Puerto del Carmen is made up of the downtown area of La Tiñosa, the old town, which is laid out around the old fisherman's port and the new neighbourhood, which has developed along the shoreline and the promenade Avenida de las Playas.

The old town is a charming area to unwind over a drink and watch the fishing boats come and go. In the nearby square you can take in local life, with a game of boules or just sit down a watch the world go by. You can walk directly over to the old town from the apartment via the Biosphere Shopping Centre.

On the Avenida there is a wide variety of shops, restaurants, bars, nightclubs. On the promenade itself you can hire bikes and cycle all the way to the capital of Arrecife.

The apartment is in the heart of everything you may need but peacefully located.

“A little gem.”

Reviewed 19 Nov 2016

My wife and I spent 8 days in this apartment and feel that we could not have found anywhere better. It is in a quiet and secluded position in a small development which is well maintained. Having said this its location is ideal and you are no more than a short walk from restaurants, the beach and promenade.Small supermarkets also conveniently local. The apartment itself is well maintained, clean and with full facilities. Mention has been made by others of the TV service which is as comprehensive as I have ever seen and includes an extensive video library. If a quiet night in is on your agenda this is a lovely facility. We were delighted also on a teatime arrival to find complimentary essentials making it un-necessary for us to have to dash out for provisions. Altogether a cracking booking and most reasonable cost.We certainly would look to book here again.

“Ideal apartment”

Had a wonderful stay in this lovely apartment. It has modern decor, in good condition and is amazing value. Its a neat one bed apartment on a quiet little complex perfectly located walking distance to the beach, main strip, shopping centre, and old town/harbour as well. Everything you need is there- including ironing board and extensive kitchen equipment, washing machine, towels, sunny private front terrace with outdoor seating. Very clean. There is a large flat-screen TV with English sky channels, and reliable free Wi-Fi. We went to the beach and swam in the sea every day. The beach is a few minutes walk away, down the a short stretch of fairly steep hill locally known by the brits as cardiac hill, which I really liked because you get a beautiful view over the bay as you go down. If you're out in evening the restaurants and clubs on the strip I would say are a comfortable walk home from, but there's also endless taxis. Top spot for a mix of peace n quiet, and out and about, whatever you like. Thank you to the owners!
