Location description from owner

The Costa del Sol region

The Costa del Sol is an area in the south of Spain that benefits from exceptionally good Mediterranean weather, with average summer temperatures exceeding 25 degrees and August temperatures regularly exceeding 35 degees. The coastline, full of natural splendour, extends for 161 kilometres and its various beaches range from huge expanses of golden sand to hidden coves with secluded beaches. With an average of more than three hundred cloudless days a year, there are endless hours to enjoy the beaches during the summer. It is never too cold for a swim as the sea has an average temperature of 18 degrees, in August this can rise above twenty-four. The summer season on the Costa del Sol is much longer than just the months of July, August and September. These sunny coast beaches are of a high standard and have extensive services, which have been recognised by the European Union under the blue flag system

Puerto de la Duquesa

Situated right next to the picturesque palm fringed marina with it’s bistros, bars, restaurants and shops, along with a stunning communal pool and a one minute stroll to the local beaches, the apartment is ideally located for family holidays, golfers and sailors alike. The central location also allows easy quick access to Ronda, Gibraltar, Seville and Africa amongst others.

“Excellent in every Way”

Reviewed 23 Sep 2012

We have just returned from a lovely holiday staying at Number 1 Mikonos. We were looking forward to sitting in the sun on that lovely terrace and we weren't disappointed. If you think it looks large in the photos wait until you see it for real! It was well furnished and provided every comfort to enjoy that all day sunshine. The apartment itself was very comfortable and provided everything and more needed for a great holiday. There were comfy leather sofas in the lounge from which there was a lovely view of the sea and a large flat screen TV so my husband didn't have to miss too much football! We didn't use the kitchen much but it was well equiped for self-catering if needed. The pool was easily accessed (same level) and was perfect for a cool off and most of the time I had it to myself. Having seen the apartments around the pool area with their small, shaded, and far from private balconies it is quite clear that Number 1 is a world apart and definitely the one to book. The complex itself is very well maintained and a two minute (almost flat) walk to the marina which was important for us as my 78 year old mother was with us, therefore this apartment is suitable for all generations. Duquesa itself is a lovely small resort with plenty of restaurants around the Marina. We especially liked Pergola and Sabor Tuscana. We found prices about the same as the UK (the days of cheap european holidays are long gone!). Overall a lovely, relaxing holiday in an excellent apartment that I have no hesitation in recommending and hopefully returning to in the future.

“Too good to be true? No this accommodation truly is first class!”

I have been holidaying in Spain for over 10 years now and have stayed in many different villas and apartments. I was lucky enough to stumble across this beautiful apartment and since then I wouldnt choose to stay anywhere else. The apartment is immaculately clean, very spacious and light and airy. It offers luxury fittings and furniture, and the owner has really gone the extra mile in making it feel home from home. Better than home infact! The jewel in the crown is the terrace. The space of the outdoor area is such an unexpected bonus and the views to sea are breathtaking. The apartment's location in Duquesa couldn't be any better. A few strides takes you into the port but it is far enough removed not be be bothered by any noise. If you are looking for a perfect holiday retreat that offers first class value for money then you have found it. Cant recommend it enough!

“Superb and luxurious apartment”

This is the third time we have stayed in this apartment and it is a class act. The furnishings are modern and comfortable. Large television with 2 DVD players and numerous DVD's for those who fancy a night in. The massive balcony is just brilliant. It has a great outlook with sun beds for all plus a table and seats with a large umbrella for dining al fresco. The pool is also on the same level and is well looked after as is the rest of the apartment block. The port itself is very nice with bars and restaurants that suit all. Because of the low exchange rate for Euros, bar prices are maybe on the dear side although they tend to have happy hours but with a lot of them going on for 4 to 5 hours, means it is actually quite cheap. Restaurant prices I feel are cheaper than where I live, even with the Euro exchange rate as it is at present. The beach is also a typical Spanish beach with lots of space and soft sand which is CLEAN. All in all, this is a luxurious apartment and I would definately recommend it for couples with or without family.

“Perfect in every way!”

We have been holidaying in Sabinillas / Duquesa for several years as we have family living here. We stayed for 3 weeks in July/August 2011. This apartment ticks every box you could want from a holiday home. It is a 2 min walk to the beach and marina, where you will find restaurants and bars to meet all budgets. The beach is sandy and very clean and safe for little ones. There is a small supermarket opposite for essentials, and two much larger ones nearby in Sabinillas. The English Butcher is great too (at the top of the Marina). You don't need a car unless you want to explore the area, we barely moved from the magnificent terrace for three weeks! The apartment is furnished to very high standards with every home comfort you could possibly want. There are DVDs and books as well as Internet and English TV. The views from the terrace are superb and we had many lovely meals there enjoying the bustle of the marina and just watching the world go by. None of us wanted to leave! I would recommend this to anyone as a holiday rental. Restuarants to visit in the Marina are La Pergola (newly opened this summer and superb), Armstrongs, Passage to India and all of the Italians in the Marina are very good. The beach bars are excellent for fresh fish - in particular Las Gaviotas at the opposite end of the Marina on the walkway to Castillo (where there are some excellent fish restaurants).

Hi Tracy, Many thanks for your review, I'm glad you had a good time, you're very welcome back any time. Kind Regards Richard
