Location description from owner

The Costa del Sol region

With 320 days of sunshine on average each year, it is little wonder that Marbella / Puerto Banus has become such as attractive holiday destination. It certainly makes a change from the dismal English weather, which of course we all love.

There are stretches of clean sandy beaches where you can relax and soak up the sun, or for the more adventurous you can of course always try your hand at a watersport. At night the area comes alive with a thriving and fun entertainment scene.

Puerto Banus

- Puerto Banus
Puerto Banus boasts just about every type of clothes shop you can think of, from top of the range designers to the more humdrum. If you can't find what you are looking for, there is always Corte Ingles. A 5 minute walk away is Spain’s equivalent to Selfridges. Everything under the sun, including a supermarket the size of two football pitches, with its wet fish, meat, fresh vegetable section, delicatessen, bakery.... the list goes on and on, and if you don't feel like hauling your shopping back to the flat, don't worry there are plenty of taxis available for about £3-4.

- La Alcazaba
What sets The Alcazaba Development apart from all others on the coast, apart from it having the oldest and most established gardens, is its proximity to everything. In the last 15 years of going to Alcazaba, I have never had to hire a car. This is probably because I am one of those lazy types who spends most of his time either lolling by the pool, walking on the beach, or in the Port, all of which are a few minutes walk from the apartment.

The apartment is around 4 minutes' walk to the beach and adajacent to a tennis club.

“Simply the Best”

Reviewed 10 May 2014

As others have said in more detail, this is a beautiful and spacious apartment with all you need in a great location with reliable, helpful owners. I call your attention to the thoughtful touches that save you money and hassle such as the water filter. What a relief not to lug all those plastic bottles of drinking water from the grocery store then face the challenge of recycling them! The kitchen is well designed and very functional. There are power strips and converters so that you can easily charge your electronics without bringing special gear. There is always plenty of hot water and good water pressure, which is not to be taken for granted in Spain. The extra large bath towels are wonderful. The clothes dryer may not be important if you are only there for a week in mid summer, but it was a blessing in winter and early spring when clothes hung outside took over a day to dry. The queen bed has a nice firm mattress. (Many Spanish rentals have narrower double beds or two twins pushed together rather than king or queen mattresses.) The second bedroom has its own small television and is just far enough away from the master bedroom for everyone to have a little privacy, but not so far that younger children would be uncomfortable. Best of all, this apartment is decorated with creativity, warmth, humor, and the occasional naughty innuendo. The terrace is beautiful, even in the middle of winter, and is the focal point of the large living room/lounge. The walls are hung with real art, which I suspect the owners chose with love. It’s just fun to be in the midst of it, like a favorite bed and breakfast instead of a Holiday Inn. If you are only looking for a place to sleep and will spend all of your time at the beach or on the town, this might not be important. For my husband and I it was a big factor in how much we loved and were refreshed by our winter months in Spain. The nearby beach is one of the very best and most beautiful on the Costa del Sol. It is on the other side of town/harbor from the narrow strip of beach that hosts the many bikini-bars-for-the-rich-and famous for which Puerto Banus is known. The gardens are mature with trees and shrubs tall enough to shade you when you need that shade. The apartment has a nice view of the mountains as well. You can choose tranquility. For those of you who have not sought a rental on the Costa del Sol before, I offer a bit of my first-time experience. I looked at over one hundred apartments on various internet sites, then physically visited about a dozen of them. Rentals can be in complexes so large and beehive like that you have no idea what country you are in. Such places can be intolerably loud and crowded in summer, but ghost villages in winter so empty that you worry for your safety. Alcazaba, the complex where this apartment is located, has the advantages of security, a reception office, private pool with garden, and safe, off-street parking, but the scale is human. It’s a nice mix of visitors and long-term residents. The location directly adjacent to an actual town is much nicer than one of the communities created within the last few decades solely to house tourists and retirees. Check to see if a final cleaning and utilities are included as they are at Alcazaba. It makes a huge difference in cost, especially given Spain’s very expensive electricity. And if the listing says “not suitable for the elderly” imagine yourself, however young and fit, with luggage, bags of groceries, and/or a toddler in arms heading up hills and stairs. Elevators have their uses.

“Wow!!!...Spacious, Modern, Beautiful Penthouse/Apartment & Great location”

Reviewed 17 Jun 2013

All in all this is without a doubt a 5 Star accommodation. I travelled to Puerto Banus with My Wife and 3 children (2 Boys- 6&4 and a 18 month year old baby). I researched long and hard to find just the right accommodation, location & amenities etc. This property definitely delivered and some. Lovely service, the owners were very helpful and provided a prompt, secure and easy process. The Apartment is walking distance from the wonderful harbour/Seafront and all the shops/bars/amenities. There is WIFI, TV's/DVD's etc, the Kitchen is fabulous (very high standard). The apartment is very spacious and feels like a "home from home", everything You would and need for your holiday. The complex is very secure and the gardens/pools are great.

Thank you for your lovely review

“Lovely apartment in an excellent location!”

No car needed only very short stroll to beach and centre. We particularly liked the Mistral bar, Pedro's bar and the Aurora bar. Everything you need is minutes away. The walk along the coast in both directions to Marbella or San Pedro is well worth doing. Reception staff extremely helpful and friendly if you need any advice.

“The most beautiful place I've ever been.”

Reviewed 29 Apr 2013

Lovely week in January in Spain, weather mainly good. Absolutely stunning apartment. I loved the Spanish style mixed in with luxury. You can tell that the owners have put their heart into it, with all the little finishing touches. V. Comfortable beds, slept like a baby. V. spacious, amazing art and general decor. Loved it, wish I could live there !!! Loved the well appointed kitchen with juicer, coffee machine, water filter, and Welcome Pack with wine and biscuits, really nice touch when we'd just got there and felt like we'd been journeying forever, so needed a nice cuppa. Gardens are beautiful and massive, lots of space to explore. 5 minutes walk to Puerto Banus. I couldn't of prepared myself for the wealth I was about to see...it was like another world!! The yachts, restaurants, shops!!! Looking forward to going back hopefully next year, already started saving my pennies. Connie and friends.

Thank you for such a lovely review

“Exotic appartment amid beautiful gardens”

Reviewed 18 Apr 2013

A very unusually decorated appartment with most of fthe space on the walls covered with pictures with Middle, Far-East, Caribbean and African themes. The furniture is similarly exotic. Overall an eclectic mix which can be overwhelming at first, but which certainly creates an appartment with a quality way above the norm. The kitchen and range of equipment are excellent, bedrooms very attractive. All rooms are spacious, the balcony medium sized. The complex has substantial sub-tropical gardens with fountains and water channels in an Andalusian style, all in immaculate condition. I believe the gardens have won awards, which is not surprising. As we came in March the outdoor pool wasn't open, but it is a good size with a children's section. There is a smallish heated indoor pool. There is no children's play area (you're not allowed to walk on the grass!). So this complex does have some drawbacks for kids. But it's only 5 to 10 minutes to the beach on foot, and the Corte Ingles supermarket is 10 minutes away.

There is a small children's play area on the grass next to the pool, and the area surrounding the pool is huge. At the recent AGM in May 2013, it was agreed that the development would look at installing some activities, like swings etc, which there used to be. Children are allowed on the grass at the pool attendants discretion. What they are trying to avoid is rowdy children kicking balls into the flower beds and ruining them. We are constantly adding to and upgrading the apartment to try and make it as appealing as possible.
