Location description from owner

The Famagusta District

The Famagusta region

Cyprus boasts of blue sky and sunshine 360 days of the year. The summer months experience temperatures going up into the 90's during July and August and the Winter months are mild.

The crystal clear sea and the golden sandy beaches of the Famagusta area gently embrace the eastern corner of the island with the popular resort of Protaras a veritable paradise for anyone who loves the sea and water sports or simply relaxing on the beach. Within a few minutes driving distance from Protaras is the beautiful harbour of Ayia Napa and the medieval monastery in the middle of the town.

Also to be seen are the windmills and small churches of the surrounding villages including the beautiful church of Profitis Elias at the top of a rocky hill, and not to be missed the picturesque fishing refuge at Potamos Liopetriou with its varied selection of coffee shops and fish tavernas.

Resorts in Famagusta out of the tourist season are quieter during the months November to Easter, (the main tourist season normally being from Easter to November). Out of season, the Protaras main strip is closed but there are a selection of bars and restaurants open in Pernera, Kapparis and Ayia Napa all year round and Paralimni has shops and supermarkets open all year. There is a bus service very close to the villa which goes around the island stopping via Pernera. The full range of local activities described below relate to the tourist season.

Protaras

Protaras

Pernera is one of the closest areas to Protaras, there are two local beaches plus bars, shops, supermarket with bakery and restaurants all within a 10 minute stroll of the villa. The bars and restaurants offer great entertainment and food for families, couples and groups of friends. For eating out there is plenty to choose from - mediteranean, traditional cypriot restaurants, italian, mexican or a steakhouse restaurant, pizza hut, kebabs amongst others. A favourite place of ours is 'La Cultura Del Gusto' - with a fantastic menu offering a wide selection of good food and the service is excellent, check out the reviews on Trip Adviser. For entertainment we recommend 'Windmills' which is a hotel, bar and restaurant opposite 'Knights pub'. There is entertainment everynight which includes a hypnotist (had some great fun watching this one!), parrot show (the kids & adults love this one), Blues brothers, comedians and lots more. More entertainment, the latest films and Sky sports can be found in a number of the pubs in Pernera to watch and enjoy.

Unlimited free WIFI is available in various pubs and restaurants in Pernera (once you have purchased a drink) if you take your own laptop. Alternatively there is an Internet cafe and Internet stations are available in the Windmills Hotel in the town centre as well as the villa.

To sample cypriot cuisine and especially a 'meze', there are a number of restaurants where you can sit back and relax taking in the Cypriot culture.

Protaras is within walking distance - a 20 minute walk but there are plenty of taxis and regular buses if you wish to use transportation. There is a bus stop near the complex which will take you to Protaras, Ayia Napa (also directly to Nissi Beach and the large water park), Cape Greco and Paralimni which is great for shopping.

The two local beaches are called the Golden Coast and Pernera beach but you can walk the coastline all the way to Fig Tree Bay in Protaras! Pernera boasts a beautiful marina and cafe which is situated next to the Golden coast beach. You can sit and relax watching the boats or enjoy the watersports on the beach if your feeling more energetic! There is also a water park in Pernera to cool the kids off if its getting a bit too warm!

There are local tour operators who offer various trips to Troodos mountains, Famagusta view point, glass bottom boat to Cape Greco, fishing, diving and lots more..................... plenty to do in Pernera!

Within only a few minutes by taxi, bus or car, you could be in Protaras and within a 6minute drive you are in Ayia Napa. These resorts are livelier and offer a larger selection of bars and nightclubs.

“Absolute Paradise!!”

Reviewed 19 Sep 2016

We stayed here for 10 days. The service from Chaz and Jo (the owners) was exceptional, second to none. The pool was cleaned when they said it would be cleaned. They arrived to greet us on arrival and explained all we needed to know plus surprised us with a welcome pack - nothing was too much trouble. They really have thought of everything and made our stay feel like home from home. It was a pleasure to rent and we didn't want to leave. We enjoyed the privacy and peace and quiet when we wanted it, and we enjoyed the short walk into Pernera in the evenings. We also walked to Protaras a few times too. We treasured every moment. It felt like absolute paradise being able to relax and enjoy the pool all day long. We hardly moved in the day time of the first week (apart from when we needed the shop) We enjoyed going off to the bakery for the lovely cypriot treats, and the new supermarket in Kapparis for the watermelon to have by the pool. We had an amazing time and will definitely rent this villa again. We also definitely give the thumbs up to anyone considering renting this for their holiday. Don't hesitate - just book, there is nothing to worry about, the villa has it all and Pernera is easily accessible - a five minute walk!! Just book, relax and enjoy :-)

“The best and friendliest customer service we have ever experienced”

Reviewed 23 Apr 2015

We from 4th-18th April 2015. We chose to book the airport transfers and were met at the airport by Chaz. It was quite late, but before taking us to the villa, he went out of his way, at no extra cost, and took us to get some food. When we arrived at the villa, he showed us around and said he'd be back in the morning to check my driving license etc (We had chosen to hire their car also). A welcome pack was waiting for us, which was much appreciated, as the next day was Easter Sunday and we were unsure if any shops would be open. We had our young daughters with us and they're always hungry! The villa was just as the picture. There are lots of little things that you don't realise you'll need until your away and it's too late....don't worry, Jo and Chaz have thought of them!.....They really couldn't be more helpful, they are such a lovely couple and nothing is too much trouble. Cyprus is beautiful, it was our visit and we do intend to go back, but only if we can stay in a villa owned/run by Jo and Chaz.

“Outstanding relaxing villa”

Reviewed 20 Sep 2014

We booked our villa holiday to be able to attend a friends wedding. From our very first contact with the owner/agent they could not do enough for us - with lots of information and help with transfers and car hire. Our arrival at the villa did not disappoint - the pool is lovely and the sun bathing area really private. The villa itself is very very well maintained and all appliances are to a really good standard. The lounge is large and airy and the kitchen is perfect for a home from home experience! The outside dining area is lovely for both breakfast and sitting out late at night for a glass or two!! The development is lovely and peaceful and within easy walking distance of both local beaches and some fantastic restaurants. The service provided is amazing our pool was cleaned twice in one week and the owner/agent has thought of everything and her attention to detail and service levels are outstanding (verging on obsessive) I recommend this villa to couples or families it ticks all the right boxes.

“Fantastic”

Reviewed 16 Aug 2013

It was one of the best experiences as far as holidays are concerned. Easy to book, excellent communication, Jo arranged pick from airport which was brilliant. Villa, can't say enough good things about it, it was more than we were expecting having never been in a villa before. The pool was a god send in the August heat. Not sure if we could go back to hotels after stopping here, no fixed meal times, pool all to self, lovely and peaceful, short walk to town, buses air conditioned to other towns. Hired car to see more of Cyprus at very competitive price, great economical car. Welcome book filled with information was brilliant. Xbox, DVDs, wifi and books made this villa just that little bit extra special as it was like a home from home. Many thanks and hope to be back soon x

Thank you so much for such a detailed review and the compliments you have given us. We would love you to come back to Villa Ourania in the future, you would receive a very warm welcome. Jo & Chaz :)

“Fantastic, relaxing, beautiful gem of a villa with pool!”

Reviewed 12 Jul 2013

From first enquiring to arriving at the villa and during our stay we had nothing but first class correspondence with Jo the owner. Nothing was too much trouble. We received lots of information on booking and a comprehensive booking itinerary. Information booklet of where to visit and eat etc in the villa and a guest book with lots of recommendations. Jo arranged transfers for us and we received a welcome food pack that was fantastic as we arrived at 11.30pm. Bacon sandwiches for supper were a great treat. The hire car was an added bonus as we found the companies to be quite expensive. The villa was out of this world with everything that we needed not just for a holiday but to live there full time. Flat screen TV, DVD player, X box and a massive DVD, game and book library. Internet access was another added bonus as we were able to keep in touch with home. Air con was a relief as we had a heatwave of 40+degrees. The pool was newly tiled and the managers kept it spotlessly clean. Our little one grew in confidence during the 2 week stay and said it was the best part of the holiday along with the beaches. She loved the pool and beach toys that were available for our use. The kitchen was fully equipped and allowed us to cater for ourselves, alternate evenings, we went to many really good restaurants. So many to choose from in Pernera, Protaras and Ayia Napa. A 5 minute walk to the local bars and restaurants and a 10-15 minute walk to the local beaches. 20 minutes along the boardwalk once we reached the front to Protaras. Sitting on the lovely patio area watching the sun go down with the little one tucked up in bed was fantastic. Much more suitable to have a villa with a pool than a hotel when travelling with little ones. It's the way to go. We have already recommended the villa to friends and family and will be returning.

Thank you for your review... its great and we are so pleased we made your holiday such a good one. We so look forward to hearing from you again, Jo & Chaz :)

Just returned from our 2nd visit to the villa and once again it could not have been better. Airport transfer was faultless (thanks to Martin), villa and pool were spotlessly clean on our arrival. Jo and Chaz are a pleasure to deal with, they will do anything to help and accomodate you. Villa is fully equipped to a high standard with everything you could need. It was nice to meet Tony the pool man and his other half Paula they were very friendly and helpful. Enjoyed it so much we booked for 2013 while we were still there. Fab place, fab villa. You must try it. Thanks very much to Jo, Chaz and Daniel. Allison & Les xxx

from being picked up at the airport by paula to going back with chaz, could not fault anything, the villa was spotless, the pool was sparkling, loads of vidieos just in case, but apart from watching some of the olympics we did not turn the T.V on it was to nice out side. pleanty of bars and restaurants in towm ,the best we found were sizzlers ana del -gustos and the blue bay bar for the beach, in protarus you can find anything you could ask for, its an 8 euro cab ride or a 30 min walk along the new beach path. we liked the whole package so much we are going back again in april 2013. once again thanks to chaz jo and tony the pool man, for making our time there so good. barry & sue duhig

Thank you for your great review - it was lovely meeting you and we are so pleased you were happy with everything. We do try to make sure that peoples holidays run smoothly and it was lovely to read your positive comments. We look forward to accommodating you on your holiday next year :)

“Great villa in even better location”

Reviewed 23 Jul 2012

The villa was very clean and spacious with everything you need. Very close to restaurants and bars and only a taxi ride away from the main strip of Protaras! The villa had a bbq which would have been great except we couldn't find a butcher! We didn't hire a car but in hindsight it would have been better for exploring that end of Cyprus. Overall, a very good location, villa and pool! The welcome pack was also greatly appreciated, especially the bottle of wine!

Thank you for your review - it was lovely to know you had a great holiday. There are 2 local butchers and a Supermarket with a meat counter close by but we haven't included the information about the local butchers in our welcome folder which we will now do as it it a good point you have made. Thanks for keeping us in mind for your next holiday! Jo & Chaz :)
