The Famagusta District

Famagusta is the capital of the Famagusta District. Paralimni (10 minutes drive) is the largest town in the area with at least two large supermarkets and many shops, both modern and traditional. Two beautiful churches sit in the main square, where you can also sit and enjoy a leisurely drink watching the world go by. Eastern Mediterranean University, Famagusta has a walled city popular with tourists and a vibrant nightlife.

To visit this area and have a look at the Turkish side it is advised to book an organized bus tour.

Larnaca (45 minutes drive) is also worth a visit in its own right - it boasts a palm lined seafront and Marina bustling with cafes, tavernas, shops and bars. There is also a scenic fortress castle, now used as the town's summer cultural ventre. Larnaca's main shopping area is Zenon Kitieos Street, a typically busy road of small shops, with colourful fruit and vegetable market at the far end.

Nicosia (75 minutes drive) is the capital of Cyprus and straddles Southern and Northern Cyprus - a beautiful modern city with an ancient town wall - take your passport and you are able to enter to the Northern side of the city where you will be able to truly appreciate the difference in each part's development in the last 35 years.

The Napa/Nissi Beach area;

Nissi Beach is located on the sourth-eastern tip of the sun-drenched island of Cyprus. The world famous horseshoe bay is know as one of Cyprus's most beatiful beaches (15 minutes drive from your apartment). The sand is white and the crystal clear waters are calm and shallow, prefect for children to play in or adults to soak up the sun and relax. There are numerous beach bars and restaurants to cater for everyone's tastes.

Pernera and Protaras are two lovely and popular resorts that have all the usual commercial resort amenities.

The seafront board walk from Perera beach to Fig Tree Bay in Protaras is magical with bars and restaurants along the way for that well earned rest to soak up the wonderful views.

In Protaras you can try your hand at sea fishing (Tuna fishing starts at the end of May) or maybe quad biking and water sports in Perera or just relax on the beach or by the pool with your own personal sun beds. Plenty of shops in the area for the ladies.

"Modern, well equipped apartment in lovely location close to amenities"

Apartment is lovely and modern, well equipped with everything you need to make breafast, lunch etc. and has the added bonus of a washing machine for sorting out those dirty beach towels! It has a lovely balcony overlooking the pool which comfortably seats four and it was lovely to laze around by the pool and then pop upstairs to make lunch and then have a leisurely gin and tonic on the balcony before getting ready for dinner. The apartment was in a quiet, but convenient location, very close to the bus stops that take you into protaras, (if you don't fancy the walk along the promenade) and is easy to walk to the local shops, bars and restaurants. It was a pleasant surprise to find a welcome pack on arrival and Alex the ice-cream man came round everyday which was a bonus. The swimming pool is quite shallow, so no practising any fancy dives, but fine, for a gentle swim and to cool off.
