Location description from owner

The Famagusta District

The weather in Cyprus is warm and sunny from March right up to the end of December and makes a perfect late summer getaway. There's plenty to see and do. Some of my photographs were taken in November and the sea is still warm enough to swim in right through to Christmas. Visitors at Christmas in Cyprus will also enjoy sunshine and temperatures around 20c.The Mythical Sands Resort is located on the Protaras-Famagusta coastline in the heart of the year-round resort of Kapparis with its blue flag beaches and linked to all the local resorts of Penera, Protaras and Agia Napa by the local bus service - the Paralimni Circle Line. It is close to the local town of Paralimni, which is the main commercial and administrative centre for the Famagusta region . Paralimni has a charming old town centre is also the region's modern main shopping hub offering a wide selection of shops, both modern and traditional, and is well worth a visit. The medieval Churches found Paralimni as well as in villages like Sotira are also interesting as are the folk art museums displaying rural artefacts in Deryneia and Avgorou. Children will also love the new sea museum, Thalassa, in Agia Napa with its replica of a 4th century trading ship which sunk off the coast of Kyrenia.Springtime is lovely particularly April and May.and June. May is the time for the local flower festival with brightly decorated floats festooned with flowers. The festival of Kataklysmos marks the end of May and is celebrated by Cypriots with folk songs and dances as well as water games on the beaches of Protaras. Kapparis is a year round resort so at Christmas the restaurants and bars are still open, unlike other resorts that close up from November through to March. Whilst it gets dark earlier it is still warm and sunny during the day and makes it a perfect place to escape to from the British winter.

Protaras

Kapparis and the Mythical Sands Resort is set next to three beautiful sandy beaches. It is perfectly located for enjoying all the coastal amenities. Exploring the local coastal footpath you will discover many more secluded sandy coves, fishing shelters, marinas, churches and places of natural beauty and, of course, the impressive panorama of the crystal clear water of the Mediterranean stretches before you into the horizon. The footpath follows the magnificent Famagusta coastline. In one direction, it will take you all the way to Ayia Napa passing though the Golden Coast public marina, the resorts of Pernera and Protaras, and the beautifully stunning National Park of Cape Greko. In the other direction, you can see the ghost town of Famagusta as it stretches out into the shimmering sea.Deservedly so, the Kapparis area resort is one that has attracted recent growth but it has maintained its local character and remains, with its rich red soil, an important area for agriculture as well as tourism. Unlike other resorts in Cyprus there are no high rise blocks as building regulations now restrict any developments to no more than 3 floors maintaining the natural beauty of the coastline. There are a plenty of activities in the region to keep everyone satisfied and those listed below are just an example of what is on offer.Water sports and boat trips all along this beautiful stretch of coastProximity to the city of Famagusta All year-round resort, perfect for holidays during all seasons Proximity to the local town Paralimni, and the livelier resorts of Protaras and Ayia Napa with the Ocean aquarium and water parksSome of the best snorkelling and diving can be had off Cape Greko with its secluded coves and rocky platforms, impressive cliff top views and sea caves.Today, Kapparis and this area continues to maintain a very friendly, relaxed and laid back atmosphere that has attracted and captured many who return year-after-year.

“Feels just like home fantastic”

Reviewed 5 Dec 2014

This was my second stay in this apartment I stayed for 3months in the winter couple of years ago. I had a week this time with my daughter it is a great apartment with every thing you need. It is only 2 minutes to local shops and restaurants and bus or car ride to the night life. The apartment is very well maintained and clean would go back again.

It was a pleasure to welcome you back to my apartment I am pleased to know that you were just as happy, if not happier this time round, especially so as I now have wifi. Thank you for taking the time to write your review and for your comments. I do try to make my apartment feel like home for home and it's great to know that you agree! I hope I can welcome you back again soon.

“Excellent apartment in Great location”

Reviewed 15 Sep 2013

This was our second visit to Kapparis and our first time to this apartment. It certainly is a lovely apartment and ideally located within 2 minutes walking distance to the local restaurants, supermarkets, taverners etc. It's situated in a quiet location and has everything you could want, even beach towels which was a nice touch. The owner is very accommodating and helpful from the initial booking to returning the deposit. Kapparis is a fairly quiet town but has some excellent amenities, beaches, pools. Nearby Protaras is worth a visit as is Ayia Napa as it has some excellent shops and a funfair which my kids enjoyed. The waterworld park near Ayia Napa is worth a visit, ideally at the weekend as you can get vouchers for half price as its less busy. The 2 local beaches in Kapparis are both small but excellent. There are numerous swimming pools you can use around town, we used 4 and they are all clean. If you want to venture out, hiring a car is a must. We used a firm called Regency whom seemed quite good. If you go in high season though expect to pay more, around 30 euros a day but well worth it. The only downside at the apartment for us was, it has no wifi but all the tavernas have wifi so it wasn't too much of a burden. We will certainly be back to Kapparis and definitely looking to book this apartment.

“Lovely apartment!”

Lovely modern apartment, equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Located in a peaceful complex not far from shops and restaurants. My sisters and I had a lovely stay here and would definitely come back!

“Holiday home away from home”

Reviewed 20 Aug 2013

We were pleasantly surprised when we came into the flat to see that it was clean and that the furniture was in a good condition. The flat is on the ground floor in a nice complex, although this particular building is on the outskirts of the complex and the parks are not done up yet. Don't let that put you off, the pool is wonderful and there is a supermarket nearby and a bakery up the road. As we went to the beach in Protaras we came with a car which I would highly recommend. Helen was very nice and helpful and attended to all of our needs. Overall a good stay!

“A relaxing and enjoyable holiday.”

“Keep calm and carry on sunbathing :)”

Reviewed 29 May 2013

A modern, tasteful, well equipped apartment in a quiet and pleasant area. Great place to chill out, wind down, enjoy the weather and local scenery. Amenities, bars and restaurants are decent and easily reachable, car not essential - the bus service is good unless you want to travel further afield

“"Spot on"”

Reviewed 15 Oct 2012

In an ideal location for easy access to the surrounding Restaurants and Bars. We found the apartment to be well presented, clean and equipped with all necessities along with items such as a docking station and DVD player. The Pool area is well maintained with adequate sun beds. I found Helen to be both friendly and efficient, making the booking process painless. Look forward to returning again next year.

“Wonderful appartment, in a lovely location”

Reviewed 8 Sep 2012

We are a family of 4 and have rented this appartment for 2 months ( July and August ). We live in Nicosia and wanted to rent a place near the sea to stay at weekends and during our summer leave. It was a perfect choise!!! It is a wonderful 2 bedroom flat, very well equiped , with new furniture of very good quality. Attention was paid on details and decoration. The complex pool was clean, had several sun beds and ombrellas, but could be a bit bigger. Several shops and restaurants are within 5 minutes walking distance. Kapparis beaches are quite close to the flat but for the best beaches in Protaras area you need a 5 to 10 minute drive. The communication with the owner was excellent. It was simply a wonderful place to stay.

“Beautifully decorated, well located and affordable”

Reviewed 15 Jun 2012

- Very modern furnishings, all mod cons, looks great - Good shade on outdoor patio - Well-located, 2 mins walk from shops/restaurants and 8 minutes to beach - The eastern part of the island is the one to go for: amazing (amazing!) beaches such as Flamingo, Konnos and Makronissos, attractive towns, attractions such as Water Park and Dancing Waters - Possible to stay here without a car, bus runs to Protaras/Ayia Napa all the time - Reasonable view of other buildings and melon fields - Nice pool, 50m away
