Location description from owner

The Famagusta District

Founded in 300 BC on the old settlement of Arsinoe, Famagusta remained a small fishing village for a long period of time. Later, as a result of the gradual evacuation of Salamis, it developed into a small port.

Famagusta District is one of the six districts of Cyprus. Its main town is the island's most important port, Famagusta.

Cape Greco, also known as Cavo Greco, is a headland in the southeastern part of the district. It is at the southern end of Famagusta Bay. It is frequently visited by many tourists for its natural beauty. It is a protected costal nature park. From the high points on the cliff that rests at the cape one can view amazing sights out to sea. According to local legend it is also the home of the 'Ayia Napa sea monster'!

Protaras

Protaras is a predominantly tourist resort. It comes under the administrative jurisdiction of Paralimni Municipality. Protaras has lovely, sandy beaches with clear sky-blue waters and the most well known beach in the area is Fig Tree Bay. Protaras is also referred to as "the land of windmills" maintaining the nostalgic quality of the past.

On the back of the success of Ayia Napa (which is only a few km away), it has blossomed into a resort of hotels, hotel apartments, villas, restaurants, pubs and all sorts of facilities a modern holiday resort ought to have. Being quieter than Ayia Napa and having less of a club scene, it has a reputation of catering more for family and Cypriot tourism. The main street in Protaras is home to hundreds of restaurants, bars and cafes catering for every taste in food, drink and entertainment.

Cape Greco is a 10 minute drive from the centre of Protaras, and is considered one of the most beautiful places on the island.

There are car, bike, quads and buggy rental companies readily available nearby to explore further afield. Watersports seekers are well catered for with paragliding, jetskis, pedaloes and waterskiing all available at nearby Fig Tree Bay.

“no one wanted to come home, so relaxing, lovely quiet apartment”

Reviewed 29 Aug 2011

this has got to be one of the most relaxing holidays we've had. We have 2 young children who had the time of their lives, we have visited Cyprus many times but really enjoyed this visit. The apartment is 1st class and the complex is lovely, both pools are great for the kids, no fights for sunbeds, no muisc blasting out, just a really relaxing time with the main street of Protaras a 10 min stroll away. Would highly recommend the transfer provided by Gary from the letting agency, 1st class service. we will definately be going back, miss it already.
