Description from owner

Description

Near the county capital of Truro, you will find this quintessential Cornish cottage in a quiet lane, within the Conservation Area of Probus village. Recently refurbished to a high standard, with all its special character this spacious cottage is spotlessly clean, comfortable and welcoming. We aim to provide you with a real 'home from home' so you can relax and enjoy this idyllic part of Cornwall.

Ideally located for both the north and south coast, you will have your choice of numerous sandy beaches. There's also World-Heritage off-road cycle trails, Eden project, Caerhay's Castle, Lost Garden's of Heligan, National Trust estates, and glorious coastal or rural walks within an easy drive. Our guests love the idyllic fishing villages dotted around the Roseland Pennisula (just 6 miles away), particularly magical St Mawes. A boat trip across the bay to the historic port of Falmouth is a must-do; then there's the cathedral city of Truro with farmer's market, theatre, eclectic shopping and so much more.

Back home at the cottage, fresh coastal decor provides you with the perfect place to unwind. Perhaps a leisurely cream tea in the conservatory, or relax in the pretty sun-trap garden whilst the church bells drift over. A gentle stroll across the village square will reward you with Aga-baked cakes in the cafe/gallery, fresh bread & home-made Cornish pasties in the farm shop; there's Cornish ale & scrummy home-made food in the local inn too. Waterlily Holiday Cottage offers you peace and quiet, friendly Cornish village life, and beautifully presented accommodation. We hope to welcome you soon x.

“We love this cottage!”

Reviewed 26 Jun 2018

We spent a week at Waterlily cottage in the middle of June and couldn’t have wanted for more. The cottage itself is deceptively big. Walking through the front door into a large living area with two comfortable sofas. This extends into the kitchen/dining area fully equipped with everything you’ll need during your stay. There’s even a conservatory and bathroom off of this which leads into a lovely courtyard garden. The main bedroom upstairs has a king size bed and plenty of room. Along with two single rooms and the main bathroom. Overall the cottage has a really cosy feel but with plenty of space. I can imagine how lovely it would be in the winter with the log burner going! The cottage is perfectly placed between the north and south coasts and about half way between St. Austell and Truro - meaning getting anywhere is easy! The village itself has a fish and chip shop, Indian restaurant and Chinese takeaway. There’s also a farm shop and a Spar. The pub (about 2 mins walk) is a really friendly place. Good selection of real ales and a lovely garden. The menu looks good although we didn’t get the chance to sample it! All in all we had a great holiday and would thoroughly recommend a stay at Waterlilly Cottage!

“What a great find – Waterlily cottage is stylish and comfortable in every way”

Reviewed 15 Feb 2014

What a great find – Waterlily cottage is stylish and comfortable in every way. Lots of thoughtful touches to make guests feel at home, including scrummy cupcakes / tea, coffee and milk on arrival, heated towel rails/warm towels and a wood burner set up all ready to light. The cottage itself is spotless, with lovely furniture, a well equipped kitchen, roomy and comfortable bedrooms and beds and decorated and maintained to a high standard. We found the location great for walking along the Roseland’s coastal paths and visiting the Eden Project is a must. Having two boys keen on cycling, we had a great time exploring the off-road cycle routes along the Mineral Tramways. The cottage has loads of tourist info and we used this to plan our week’s activities and eating out venues, and weren’t disappointed. We had a really great holiday - thank you. Waterlily cottage is a little gem waiting to be discovered by the discerning who dare to stay somewhere ‘different’ to those who follow the crowds.

Owner's reply: I am so glad you had such a great holiday and thank you for your lovely comments. Another great multi-use trail you may like to try on your next visit to Cornwall is The Camel Trail, which provides access to the beautiful Cornish countryside along a disused railway line between Bodmin, Wadebridge and Padstow. Enjoy!
