About Privlaka
Privlaka is a picturesque tourist and fishing town on the Riviera of Zadar, situated on a large, flat peninsula, surrounded by aqua blue sea and divine beaches.
Privlaka is first mentioned in written documents in 1296 as a viticultural community. The name of the town kept changing through the centuries: Brevilaqua, Privilacha, Priulacha, until it reached the form by which it is known today.
Privlaka offers unforgettable experiences. Visit the picturesque port in the centre of town early in the morning, where fishermen, upon returning from a morning fishing, collect their nets and offer fresh fish for sale. The Privlaka fishermen are famous for ludar, a traditional way of fishing, passed down for decades from generation to generation. A promenade runs around the entire peninsula and offers an unforgettable sunset view.

Things to do
The area of Privlaka is an oasis of shallow long-stretching sandy lagoons, removed from the signs of traffic and industry. The shallow sea in the enclosed bay has higher temperatures of about 2-3 degrees than in the open sea. Next to Privlaka is the weekend settlement of Sabunike famous for its sandy beaches. Only one kilometre away you'll find Croatia's oldest royal city - Nin dating from the 9th century.
The most outstanding monument, unique in its architectonic style, is a small Old-Croatian church of St. Cross from the 9th century, representing a gem among the cultural monuments of its kind. In Nin there is the largest known deposit of therapeutic peloid on the Adriatic coast. Experts from the medical faculty at Vienna and Zagreb analysed the physical-chemical properties of this therapeutic peloid. The excellent results lead to a small outpatient clinic being built there, and open air rehabilitation is performed during summer months.
The famous holiday village Zaton is 3 km away. If you want to visit the biggest disco on the Adriatic you'll find Saturnus disco that offers programs and appearances by well-known DJs. For the more active in Zaton there is a rich variety of different sport activities, from water skiing to windsurfing.
Privlaka is situated in the Zadar region which includes 5 national parks and 3 Nature Parks for which there are organized full-day and half-day guided bus tours to the national parks of Plitvice Lakes, Krka Waterfalls and Paklenica, and boat tours to the Kornati Islands, Telasica Nature Park.
