“A wonderful place to chill out”

Reviewed 2 Sep 2012

Wendy and Nick are a lovely couple, with a beautiful set-up in rural France. They made us feel very welcome, and it was all incredibly relaxed and relaxing. Lovely weather helped, but there is also a fantastic saltwater pool in which to cool off. They were very helpful with recommendations for local restaurants, which were great. I hope we will go back soon!

“What a find!”

Reviewed 3 Aug 2012

When I inquired about the property for 3 nights it was booked but Wendy very kindly offered a solution - a gite for 2 beside La Fourquerie and a room for our 2 teenagers in the main house -perfect. Lots for teenagers (and parents) to do - a lovely heated pool, tennis table, games area, cats, horses, a friendly dog (Bella), some hens and 3 cute grey silkie chickens. The studio was well equipped with everything you need, even a nice touch of 2 vases of fresh flowers. Wendy and Nick are great hosts with offers to join them for drinks beside the pool. When Wendy heard I enjoyed walking I was invited to join her and a friend for an early morning walk with their dogs, which I did, it was worth getting up for! I can see why guests return here, you can totally switch off from the real world and relax. When you can drag yourself away Sarlat, Bergerac and Beynac-et-Cazenac are well worth a visit. What more can I say apart from you arrive as a guest and leave as a friend.

“Fantastic for a young family”

Reviewed 29 Jan 2012

What a lovely, lovely place to stay. We spent a week in the gite and had a great time. Nick, Wendy and their boys really are the perfect hosts and made the whole family hugely welcome - right from the off when we were greeted at the end of a hot drive with wine for the adults and ice pops in our freezer for the children. Wendy really had thought of everything in the gite - from eggs from their own chickens (divine) to fresh bread and coffee. The swimming pool area is fenced off (great if you have small children) and such a wonderful area to relax in. The region is great for exploring with lots to see and do and it became customary to arrive at the pool hot and tired after a day out, to the offer of a gin and tonic or a beer! The riding is great with some lovely trails and, as with everything else, Wendy is really keen to make sure you have a good time. Like so many others, we have booked to go back this summer and will be sure to sample some of Wendy's legendary cooking this time. Oh, and don't be put off if you prefer to do your own thing - we enjoyed being treated like extended family but Wendy tells me they are also very good at leaving people alone if that's what they prefer!

“a return visit , always first class service and food!! Lovely Area.... Go there!”

Reviewed 12 Jan 2012

Nick and Wendy make every effort to make your holiday special. Wendy has horse riding available and the tracks and rides are very good. Comfortable accommodation. Lovely house and garden, lovely swimming pool. Great restaurants in area, first class home cooking if required. Totally flexible arrangements.

“The perfect base to see the Dordoigne”

Reviewed 4 Dec 2011

Nick and Wendy are the perfect hosts in the perfect setting. From the minute we arrived following a short drive from Bergerac airport, we were made to feel welcome and at ease. The gite at La Fourquerie is clean spacious and airy and made the perfect base for a relaxing week. We spent days out exploring the local area having a great time canoeing down the Dordoigne and visiting Bergerac. Go-Carting was good fun and came recommended by Nick. Evenings were spent at La Fourquerie where Nick, Wendy Sam and Jamie were the percent hosts and made us feel like members of the family. We will be returning soon ....

“Our fourth stay in La Fourquerie was as welcoming and enjoyable as always.”

Reviewed 1 Dec 2011

The owners Nick and Wendy go out of their way to make us feel comfortable and welcome. The location and accommodation are first class. Make sure to have dinner with the hosts on at least one occasion during your stay as Wendy's cooking is great!!

“One of the most relaxing stays we've ever had.”

Reviewed 21 Nov 2011

Wendy, Nick and her family have created a real holiday retreat. Our stay was absolutely fantastic and I have only praise for the way Wendy and her family looked after us. In fact we've already booked ourselves in for next year. The accomodation we stayed in had all been recently refurbished to a very high standard and the house is situated in a lovely area overlooking the french countryside. The hardest part was leaving....

“Fantastic relaxing venue with super hosts”

Reviewed 21 Nov 2011

Well what can I say. If you want a relaxing completely stress free holiday with lots to do then La Fourquerie is the place to visit. When we arrived we were greeted very warmly with Tea, Cake and their famous wine which we became extremely accustomed to. Nick and Wendy chatted to us to find out what we wanted from our holiday and then gave us lots of options to fill our time but also left us alone when we just wanted to chill out in the Gite. We also had the catering option so every day we were fed like kings including packed lunches if we went out for the day. Then there were some fantastic meals and more wine in the evening and lots of laughter. In conclusion, I would highly recommend this rental it offers everything you need.

“Stay here once, and you'll be back again and again - just like us !”

Reviewed 21 Nov 2011

As soon as you arrive at La Fourquerie your holiday will begin. Nick and Wendy are the perfect hosts who really could not do enough for you. You are made to feel welcome immediately and when you enter the gite, you know you have arrived ! The views from your windows are stunning as is the area surrounding La Fourquerie. It is quiet and peaceful and typically French. Your hoilday will be what you want it to be. Nick and Wendy are always there if you need any help or guidance be it where to eat, activities to do or sights to see, or if you choose to be left alone thats exactly what will happen. If you enjoy riding, Wendy will be happy to take you out across the tracks on her beautiful horses which is great fun. If one day you really don't feel like cooking, let Wendy know in advance and she will have something scrummy waiting for you. There is an amazing swimming pool and an outside area for you to sit and relax with your favourite book and listen to your husband play guitar (or is that just me !) and just enjoy. All in all, I could not recommend La Fourquerie more for your next holiday destination. As the title of my review states ' Stay here once and you'll be back again and again - just like us ! '.

“Relaxing and fabulous”
