Description

This family suite is in a typical Quercynoise house set in 40 acres of pasture and woodland near Pontcirq in the Lot department . The accomodation is cool and comfortable - the master bedroom has an ensuite and the twin room which can also be a double has access to the shower room through a second door. It is suitable for a family or two close couples. Breakfast is taken on the front terrace weather permitting. This terrace is reserved for the guests use. Dinner can be served here on reservation after a days sightseeing. As an ideal base for the attractions of the Dordogne and the Lot valley, visiting caves, grottos or picturesque villages can be balanced by afternoons lazing by the pool. We get our organic vegetables and eggs from the farm across the road. Beer and wine are available on site. A portable fridge is at your disposal.

The Midi-Pyrénées region

The Midi Pyrénées is a large, beautiful and bountiful region stretching from the Massif Central in the north to the Pyrenees in the South West. It is watered by the Lot, Dordogne, the Gers, Ariège and Garonne among others and also contains part of the Canal de Midi. The summer temperature ranges from 20° in May to 30° plus in July and August The markets are truly special in this region renowned for its local produce, gastronomique delights in unbelievably picturesque settings. Evening markets are delighful - buy your meal from the stalls and eat it there. Some specialities of the region include foie gras, goats cheese, confit de canard, walnuts and the really delicious Cahors wine.

Prayssac

The chambre d'hotes is located 20 minutes drive from the medieval town of Cahors and 5 minutes from the nearest vineyards. Cahors Saturday morning market is one of the best in the region. Cave painitngs, castles, boat trips, canoeing are all close by. The Petit Ranch pony riding school is 1/2 km away. It makes an ideal base for exploring the historic delights of the Dordogne and the Lot. A lake and sports centre with restaurant near the house makes a change from relaxing by the pool. Rocamadour, Sarlat and St Cirq Lapopie are all worth a vist. 5 minutes walk from the house is a small village where a lively community run cafe is open. This is unspoiled rural France at its best.
