Description

The beach house is situated a few feet away from the sea so perfect if you want to roll out of bed for that early morning swim! It is only a 1 minute walk into town and a 5 minute walk to the main beach yet is in a peaceful and quiet part of town.

The property has been newly renovated (2014) with new bathroom, new kitchen with new appliances, extended balcony upstairs with 180 degree sea views, new wall to ceiling windows and brand new larger beds. It has been tastefully decorated to retain the Portuguese Beach House charm with an abundance of character. It has 2 bedrooms, one with a king sized bed and the other with 2 single beds (though one is a pull out double bed and the other is a mezzanine style single bed). There is also a sofa bed in the lounge should you need it. I would recommend the property comfortably sleeps 4 but up to 6 if you don't mind the sofa bed. The downstairs is an open plan kitchen and lounge with tv, freeview, dvd player and cd player. The lounge has

Location description from owner

The Algarve region

The Algarve boasts some of the best unspoiled beaches in Portugal, all enjoying warm water and glorious year-round sunshine. Over 3,000 hours of sunshine a year and idyllic temperatures (average temperature in winter of 14ºC and 28ºC in Summer), provide a perfect setting for all forms of water sports, as well as golf and other outdoor activities.

The majority of Portugal’s finest championship golf courses are concentrated in this region, which attracts a steady influx of golfers all year round but there is no shortage of sporting and leisure activities for the non-golfer. Tennis, horse-riding, bird watching, walking, swimming, fishing, sailing, jet skiing and micro light flying are all available and there are a growing number of well-equipped gyms and health and beauty salons.

Nearby Lagos (6km) offers good shopping with plenty of local shops aswell as clothes and shoe shops.

The standard of living on the Algarve is high, costs are relatively low and the more relaxed and healthy lifestyle is coupled with a low crime rate compared to Northern Europe.

As a final bonus, most Portuguese, especially those in business or the tourist industry, speak excellent English, which is now the second language in schools.

Praia da Luz

Praia da Luz ("beach of light") is in the Western Algarve, an area of unspoilt villages and open countryside.

Behind the beach narrow streets of white painted houses lead to the Church and the village centre. The old and the new blend together encouraging you to relax and feel at home.

Praia da Luz was originally a fishing village specialising in Tuna, caught in a long wall of net stretching from the rocks in front of the Fortaleza.

Luz is renowned for its safe sandy beach which is an important part of a holiday for many holidaymakers.
For the more energetic there are water sports centres where wind surfers and sail boats can be hired. Tuition in water skiing and diving are also available from the beach during the season.

For surfers there is also a reef break at the far end of Luz beach known as Roca Negra. There are other surf spots only 10 minute drive down the coastline, such as the infamous Zavial. Those keen surfers have easy access to the big waves of the west coast which is within 20 minutes drive away.

The village restaurants cater to a wide range of tastes and budgets, Portuguese, English, Indian or Pizza. There is also a good selection of bars, cafes and pubs.

Those looking for a wider selection of restaurants or a party scene, the historic town of Lagos is only six kms away and there are regular buses and taxi services between the village and town. Lagos is a beautiful and bustly town with cobbled streets and is steeped in history. There is a wide selection of restaurants and bars, which cater for all age groups, from cosy intimate pubs to jazz clubs with live music to relaxed backpackers bars or lively surfer bars!

Praia da Luz has supermarkets, butchers and bakers. Fresh fish and some vegetables are sold in the mornings in the commercial centre market. Nearby, Lagos offers large supermarkets where a wider range of goods can be purchased.

For golfers, Luz is only 5 minutes drive from ‘Boa Vista Golf Resort’ or 10 minutes from the breathtaking Parque da Floresta course. Or only a little further away along the golden sands from Lagos marina is the Palmares course which rises from links beside the dunes to woodland on the hilltop.

“Relaxing, breathtaking views, great location”

Reviewed 29 Jul 2013

Property was just as described. Home was in a great location, 2min walk to the beach, grocery store nearby, many restaurant options all within walking distance too! House had everything my family needed during our stay. The owner Laura was very easy to work with and very responsive. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a place in Algarve, Portugal.

“Perfect little beach house!”

Reviewed 7 Mar 2013

Having stayed in many places in the Algarve, this property was the most enjoyable. If you're looking for a peaceful retreat away from the hustle and bustle of apartment living, this authentic beach house is ideal. It is literally just a few steps from a quiet beach where you can take your morning coffee! The sea view from the upstairs balcony is to die for and never fails to draw a wow each morning when you open the shutters. Although in a peaceful location shops and restaurants are only a one minute walk away. If a peaceful holiday and a stunning location, is high on your list, then this is for you.
