Description

Imagine on your arrival stepping onto this private south facing terrace, the sun warm on your skin. Imagine having a relaxing breakfast here with spectacular uninterrupted sea views or dinner with the moon shining on the water. This attractive fully equipped 2 bedroom/2 bathroom waterfront property is in a quiet residential location less than 50 metres from a safe bathing beach. The surge of waves and the happy sounds of children playing on the beach fill your every day. There is always something to watch on the water - water skiers, canoes, fishing and sailing boats or the constant change of light and colours on the cliffs east of the beach as the day progresses.

This attractive fully-equipped 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment is in a quiet residential location 50 metres from the shore line and the beach. The floors are tiled throughout and the walls of the kitchen and bathrooms are fully tiled with traditional Portuguese tiles. The master bedroom and sitting room both have french windows onto the terrace. If the abundance of Algarve produce tempts you to cook the kitchen provides a pleasant roomy working space with marble work surfaces as well as a marble topped counter and arch giving onto the sitting room.

Praia da Luz's excellent restaurants and supermarkets are almost on your doorstep. There is a restaurant in the old Fort further along the waterfront with its fabulous sea views and pretty garden. Their jazz lunch every Sunday is a a great way of spending an afternoon if you are tired of the beach. Only two minutes away from the doorstep are the two cafes and three restaurants that front onto the beach. Two of the restaurants have roof top terraces and the third is actually built on the beach with a boardwalk leading to it. Three minutes in the other direction there is a small shopping section with two supermarkets, a pharmacy and a delicatessen/patisserie. Your location could not be more central and yet the apartment is in a quiet street and in the front line of houses facing the sea.

Praia da Luz, is close to the historic town of Lagos which has a daily fish market and a general market for local produce on Saturdays. From here you can get boats which take you to the caves and amazing rock formations on the cliffs between Lagos and Luz. The awe inspiring Cape St Vincent is only 30 minutes drive away as are the spectacular world class surfing beaches such as at Carrapateira. Inland is the pretty town of Silves with its Moorish castle.

Praia da Luz offers a wide range of activities from the relatively sedate to very energetic which will suit people of all ages.

Getting around

Of course, car rental gives you greater flexibility but because of good transport links a car is not necessary for staying at Praia da Luz. There are reasonably priced transfers from the airport to the doorstep and back again. Just 2 minutes up the road, near the two supermarkets, there is a bus stop with busses connecting you to Lagos (15 mins away), Burgau and Sagres. Faro is a transport hub with busses going all over The Algarve as well as beyond to Lisbon and Seville. There is also a railway station in Lagos with trains to Faro and connections to Tavira and Lisbon. Praia da Luz is small and everything is within easy walking distance.

Because holiday accommodation is one of the most important components of a precious holidays, we all need to feel really sure we have made the best choice for ourselves. That is why I am always ready to respond to queries in the shortest possible time both before and after your holiday. They both speak excellent English, have lived most of their lives in the locality, had extensive experience in hotel management and most importantly they are kind.

House rules

Smoking is not allowed in the house but you can smoke on the terrace as long as you don't leave cigarette butts for Antonio, the gardener, or Cristina, the maid to pick up. The Condominarios (Residents' Association) have banned barbecues, sorry. Please respect your neighbours and keep noise to appropriate levels for the time of day. Of course, rule number 1 is Relax and Enjoy!

“Beautiful apartment with a timeless view.”

The apartment certainly met our expectations and lived up to the description. The view was amazing and drew us back to the apartment most days to eat and relax. We loved the simplicity of the furnishings and the fact that it stayed cool when hot outside. The garden was a real haven. We saw the sun come up in the morning and the moon at night. We also loved the local area and hope to return very soon.

“Fabulous apartment with the best sea view”

I have stayed in numerous apartments over several years vacationing in Praia da Luz and 23B is def one of the best. Right on the sea front with a sunny & sheltered garden terrace (for breezier, low season days), Very comfy beds, clean and all important mod cons including a dish washer - a real bonus:). Craig was very helpful and responded quickly to any questions. I would be very happy to stay at 23B on future Holidays in Luz & I would highly recommend this apartment.

“A fabulous, well equipped, immaculate villa in a beautiful position!”

This was the first time we had visited this part of Portugal and we couldn't have asked for a better villa in a more beautiful location! The feeling of opening the shutters every morning was one of the great highlights! We felt thoroughly relaxed on our return to England....and our only complaint?....we weren't able to stay longer!

“Wonderfully located, well-equipped and looked-after apartment for a relaxing break in the sun”

I spent a fortnight in Craig's apartment and had the most wonderful break from Scottish weather and, let's face it, political upheavals in the UK. As the other reviewers have already said, the apartment is in a great location, at once quiet and yet central with easy access to very good supermarkets and cafes and restaurants and, importantly, equally close to the beach. I regret now I didn't get up more often early enough for a before-breakfast swim. I didn't feel the need to go out much or watch the telly or DVDs (all available) or spend time on the computer as the view from the living room, master bedroom or terrasse is just so wonderful. The ever changing patterns and colours of the sea provide a quasi cinematic experience. Add to that the light - the place seems to do full justice to its name ... Visiting nearby Lagos and its Saturday small market and the daily fish market (by bus) was very enjoyable too - as was wandering around this historically interesting town. I also did a few walks along the coast - to Burgau, the village to the West of Praia da Luz - a delightful old fishing village tumbling down into the small sandy bay and thus providing an interesting contrast with Luz. There seem to be quite a few other historic places not too far away by car which are worth visiting and more walks to do and restaurants to sample ... I would love to come back to 23B Waterside Village Rua do Balneario Romano!
