Description from owner

Description

Located approximately halfway between Portsoy and Cullen, Sandend is a beautiful coastal, conservation fishing village, nestling on the water's edge of the Moray Firth. The old harbour with its backdrop of cliffs and fishermen's cottages certainly isn't as busy now as it formerly was in the days when the North Sea Fishing Industry was in its prime, however, the man-made harbour is still used by a variety of small pleasure craft as well as one or two small fishing boats. They use this safe haven to land lobsters, crabs and occasionally mackeral which can be sometimes purchased as they are landed on the pier.

25 Sandend Village looks onto this idyllic setting which changes constantly throughout each day depending on the weather conditions. Walk round the corner of the 'Muckle Hoose' and you're within a few minutes walk of the magnificent sandy beach which is very safe for swimmers, surfers, kayakers, flying kites, building sandcastles or just lazing

Glenglassaugh Distillery and a former windmill (known locally as the cup and saucer) can be seen above the far end of the beach.

The Moray Firth is famous for fishing, sighting dolphins, whales, seals and a variety of seabirds, etc. The Coastal Trail winds its scenic way through rocks, across beaches and clifftops making it ideal for walkers and photographers. You are ideally situated at Sandend to visit Aberdeen (1.5 hrs), Inverness (1.5 hrs), visit Distilleries on Speyside, play golf (many wonderful courses to choose from), fish for salmon on the Spey or Deveron, go horse-riding or just chill-out in sublime Sanine.

“Great Holiday in a beautiful location”

Reviewed 2 Apr 2014

We stayed here Summer 2013 and had a wonderful holiday, Sandend is beautiful and the cottage was a real treat. My sons are age 8 & 3 they loved sitting in the lounge with the real fire on at night. It was great as a base we went to the beach every day, we were lucky with the weather and went to Sunny Side Beach which was amazing. The cottage was great it had everything we needed.
