Description from owner

Description

No.25 is a large detached cottage, (located down at the harbour), gable end on to the North Sea in the traditional style of these coastal fishing villages.

To view a video of No. 25 enter TBM TV Sandend Village into Google.

The spacious comfortable living room is open plan, doubling as a dining room with a fold out table. A wooden stair with sculpted steel newel posts leads you to the upper floor where two bedrooms nestle under the coomb ceilings. Bedroom 1 has a double bed (sleeps 2), Bedroom 2 has 2 single beds (sleeps 2).

To the rear of the ground floor is a well appointed kitchen with small breakfast bar and excellent cooking facilities and dishwasher.

Beyond the kitchen a small corridor houses a washing machine and a second fridge. The toilet/ shower room is also located in this area.

Oil fired central heating heats both the upper and lower areas as well as providing a supply of hot water. Guests have the option of lighting a log fire only in the sea

To the rear of the cottage a sheltered, private patio with furniture offers an alternative venue for dining out or hopefully sitting out in the sun. Weather permitting of course !

Located approximately halfway between Portsoy and Cullen, Sandend is a beautiful coastal, conservation fishing village, nestling on the water's edge of the Moray Firth. The old harbour with its backdrop of cliffs and fishermen's cottages certainly isn't as busy now as it formerly was in the days when the North Sea Fishing Industry was in its prime, however, the man-made harbour is still used by a variety of small pleasure craft as well as one or two small fishing boats. They use this safe haven to land lobsters, crabs and occasionally mackerel which can be sometimes purchased as they are landed on the pier.

25 Sandend Village looks onto this idyllic setting which changes constantly throughout each day depending on the weather conditions. Walk round the corner of the 'Muckle Hoose,' (Big House), and you're within a few minutes walk of the magnificent sandy beach which is very safe for swimmers, surfers, kayakers, flying kites, building sandcastles or just lazing about. Glenglassaugh Distillery and a former windmill (known locally as the cup and saucer) can be seen above the far end of the beach.

The Moray Firth is famous for fishing, sighting dolphins, whales, seals and a variety of seabirds, etc. The Coastal Trail winds its scenic way through rocks, across beaches and clifftops making it ideal for walkers and photographers. You are ideally situated at Sandend to visit Aberdeen (1.5 hrs), Inverness (1.5 hrs), visit Distilleries on Speyside, play golf (many wonderful courses to choose from), fish for salmon on the Spey or Deveron, go horse-riding or just chill-out in sublime Sanine.

Please be sure to take time to view our photographs of the cottage and the beautiful surrounding village of Sandend.

Location description from owner

The Scotland region

Portsoy

Both Portsoy and Cullen have several shops eg. small supermarkets, bakers, newsagents, post offices, pubs, cafes, eateries and antique shops. Banff and Buckie being larger towns have a greater selection. Elgin, Inverness and Aberdeen being much bigger again will offer a greater variety of attractions. Elgin, (40 mins.), Inverness and Aberdeen both about 1hr 30mins from Sandend. (approx.) by car.

Quaint coastal villages eg.Crovie, Pennan, Portknockie, Findochty, etc., etc., are well worth a visit. There is an excellent Tourist Information Centre in Banff.

“Lovely cottage in a peaceful setting”

Reviewed 22 Mar 2017

Beautiful cottage within a stones throw of the sea. Lovely walks and scenery. Warm and cosy and not to far from Portsoy for a meal and friendly locals. !00% would visit again!

“Great Holiday in a beautiful location”

Reviewed 2 Apr 2014

We stayed here Summer 2013 and had a wonderful holiday, Sandend is beautiful and the cottage was a real treat. My sons are age 8 & 3 they loved sitting in the lounge with the real fire on at night. It was great as a base we went to the beach every day, we were lucky with the weather and went to Sunny Side Beach which was amazing. The cottage was great it had everything we needed.
