“Excellent accommodation”

Reviewed 31 Jan 2018

Hubby & I had a last minute short break away based at Slipway Cottage. The accommodation was immaculately presented throughout with everything we could have needed with some nice little touches! Decent wi-fi which is essential for us as small business owners was much appreciated! We enjoyed relaxing with a good book & glass of wine in the sunny rear garden & watching the bobbing boats whilst taking a morning coffee on the front harbourside patio. It's was super for us townies to just walk out the door leaving the car keys on the table for scenic & enjoyable walks along the coast path & on the superb main beach only 2 mins walk away! There are several pubs in the village which we found to be very good, with a well stocked convenience store & bakery in the square 100 metres away. Many thanks Jeff for all your kind assistance,we had a lovely vacation & will hopefully return again with the family for a longer summer break:)

Owner's reply: Hello again Emma, thank you for your kind review,so glad to hear you enjoyed your short stay back in September.I was very happy to help you out with accommodation after frustratingly being let down at the last minute & it would be lovely to see you & Brian & possibly the rest of the family one day.Hope your extended travel over the last months in Australia & New Zealand went ATP! Again many thanks for your valued custom & review. Jeff H (owner)

“slipway cottage portreath”

Reviewed 28 Aug 2017

A very well maintained equipped clean and ideally located cottage which accommodated our family of four easily.Walking distance of less than five minutes to the beach and local shops. Car parking is at the rear in a first come first serve court yard which can be busy and tight for space, an alley way leads to the main road of which are lots of car bays, busy during day but quiet during night. The cottage backs on to the harbour which has a strong smell when the tides goes out which adds to the character of the area, also very quiet during the day and night. Overall very please and would come back again. strongly recommended.

Owner's reply: Hi L, yes sorry that was a very busy school holiday week...I'm not sure why you didn't take up the offer of the space outside my garage/rear access as it was your best parking option & yours to use if required. Yes Portreath's like many working tidal harbours can have an 'aroma', there one day, perhaps gone the next, greatly depending on the weather & tidal conditions both outside of our control!

“Superb Cottage..highly recommended”

A superb house with everything you could wish for and more...immaculately clean, ideal location a very short walk from the fab Portreath beach and local pubs. It was made extra special due to the house stocked with all those extras you usually never know are going to be there or not...everything labeled clearly too- washing up liquid, dish cloths/sponge, hand wash, towels, tin foil, cling film, salt/pepper, washing machine (incl some washing powder/fabric conditioner) dishwasher tablets, clothes airer, washing line and pegs..I could go on. The lovely owner, Jeff, even loaned us some wetsuits which made our holiday- not being used to the North Cornish coast we now realise why everyone in Cornwall uses a wetsuit! He was also very helpful with directions to places and local hints and tips. Thank you- would definitely recommend.

Owner's reply: Dear Alison, thank you for the very kind review & I'm very happy to hear you found Slipway Cottage proved a good choice of accommodation for your family's 2017 Cornish vacation.Yes Portreath's main family friendly beach is fab in the summer.....especially at low tide for body boarding & exploring the caves & pools! It was a pleasure meeting your lovely family perhaps see you all again one day! Sincerely Jeff H.

“I think this is probably the best place I have ever stayed.”

This place was perfect for a short winter getaway. Jeff the owner really went out of his way to make out stay as trouble free as possible. He really couldn't do enough. The place was well stocked with all the bits and pieces you need right down to washing up liquid and matches to light the log fire which was already set. Don't worry if you've never used a log burner, all the instructions were there for you. We were fortunate that the weather was pretty good but even if it isn't, Jeff has supplied loads of DVDs and even games for the children. I will definitely book again.

Owner's reply: Dear Rob, thank you for the kind review it's very much appreciated & I'm really happy to hear you had a nice week. It was a pleasure having you both stay...... hopefully I'll see you again one day! Safe travels & adventures up there in the sky !! Jeff H
