The Dumfries and Galloway region
Dating back historically some 500 years, and built adjacent to the ruins of nearby Dunskey Castle, its position on the Rhins of Galloway affords visitors views of the Northern Irish coast to the west, with clifftop walks and beaches both north and south.
The Gulf Stream, flowing in from the north, gives the coastline a pleasant climate, in which subtropical plantlife can flourish.
For the visitor to Portpatrick, there is no shortage of things to do and see. The village itself offers bowling, putting, tennis and golf. There are several excellent restaurants in the village.
There are numerous gardens to visit within a short journey from Portpatrick including the famed Logan Botanical Gardens and Glenwhan.
Other places of interest are the Logan Fish Pond near Port Logan (where 2000 Aces of Sky was filmed), the Mull o' Galloway, Wigtown (the book town), Castle Douglas (famous for its specialist shops) - to name but a few.

"fantastic location, great accommodation, friendly service"
very friendly welcome when we arrived following a long car journey. enjoyed a great week staying at the post house, location ideal as we were travelling with an elderly relative and young children. the post house is great for a large family with 4 good size bedrooms, very clean, kitchen well catered for with microwave, dish washer and washing machine. ( home from home) children had a great surprise when they discovered a small pool table in the cupboard under the stairs. would recommend it.
Thank you for your kind words. Hope to see you again

"What a smashing place to stay!"
Upon arrival to this cottage I was blown away. It was spotless and snugg. My room had a mini pool table and lots of trivia books perfoect for a rainy afteroon, and most importantly - comfy beds (as did all of the other rooms). The bathroom was great, as was the kitchen (fully equipped with cutllery, crockery and a dishwasher), dining room and living room. Being part of the post office also added some quirkyness to the stay. As for Portpatrick itself - it is a village (or tiny town?) of warm hospitality and great naural beauty. I long to visit again.

"lovely local charm"
I stayed here for one night during a get together for a friends wedding. The flat was spotlessly clean and obviously newly renovated, and was everything I could have hoped for. Adjoined to the local post office and shop, 2 minutes walk from the beautiful port and beaches, right in the centre of local life, what more could you ask for?!

"Lovely accommodation in a very lovely place!"
We had a wonderful stay at the Post House. It's extremely cosy and homely and just down the road from the harbour! Comfortable beds and very well equipped - we couldn't have asked for more! Many thanks! We'll be back!!
