Description

A modern holiday house in lovely Portnablagh with a beautiful sea view, a short walk from the harbour & small beach, a few minutes' drive from Marble Hill & Killyhoey beaches, & the village of Dunfanaghy's pubs, cafes, restaurants & shops. A great base for exploring Donegal & a comfortable, well-equipped, relaxing house. Everyone who stays loves it. There have never been any complaints or criticisms. We love it for our family breaks, whether planning days at the beach, mountain-walking or sight-seeing, or just doing nothing. A wood- and coal-burning stove has now been installed, as well as a new boiler, and the house has been re-decorated,

Location description from owner

The County Donegal region

Donegal is a beautiful county in the north-west of Ireland, with miles of quiet, sandy beaches and dramatic cliffs and headlands. The towns and villages, on the other hand, are lively with interesting pubs, welcoming cafes and restaurants, many offering the best of local homegrown, home-reared and home-baked food. There are mountains to climb, scenery to admire, friendly people to talk to and peace and quiet when you need them.

Portnablagh

The area around Portnablagh features all of the above, with a small harbour where fishing-boats land lobster and other seafood, a picturesque beach and a harbour wall from which children and adults alike hurl themselves into the sea when the tide is right. A few minutes drive (or a decent cycle or slightly longer walk) away is the small lively town of Dunfanaghy, with a good choice of pubs, cafes, restaurants and a hotel, as well as craft shops and a fantastic delicatessan. Other golden beaches are nearby, including Marble Hill (popular for surfing, wakeboarding and other watersports) and Falcarragh, as well as Ards Forest and Friary with beautiful forest walks, and Glenveagh National Park with its castle and gardens, and Muckish and Errigle mountains.
