Description

The cottage is comfortable and welcoming, ideal for either a family holiday or a relaxing short break. It is situated adjacent to the owner's home on Bron Turnor Farm. The property is set inside a large garden, surrounded by fields, with views towards the mountains of snowdonia.

The cottage is converted from a barn and retains interesting features, such as the high ceiling and beams in the living room. There is double glazing and gas central heating , with radiators in all rooms.

The accomodation consists of:

Living Room - a large room with fitted carpet and a 'coal effect' gas stove. The room provides a dining area and sitting area, with satellite TV and DVD player. The front window gives a view over the driveway and fields, to the Ffestiniog railway.

Kitchen and Utility Room - the kitchen is separated from the living room by a bar counter. There is a range of fitted units and appliances include: electric cooker, microwave, dishwasher, fridge,

Kitchen and Utility Room - the kitchen is separated from the living room by a bar counter. There is a range of fitted units and appliances include: electric cooker, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, freezer, washing machine and dryer. There are two steps leading down from the living area to the sleeping area:

Bedroom 1 The main bedroom has a laminate floor, wash basin, double bed, wardrobe and chest of drawers. this is a large room with ample space for a cot (available on request)

Bedroom 2 laminate floor, twin beds and a wardrobe.Landing - the landing gives access to the two ground floor bedrooms and bathroom, and also to the attic bedroom via a space-saver staircase. In addition there is a single bed on the landing which can be screened by curtains for privacy.

Bedroom 3 - this is an ideal bedroom for older children or a teenager. It is not suitable for young children as the staircase is steep (see photograph). the bedroom has a laminate floor, velux roof lights, and includes a single bed, armchair and satellite TV.Bathroom , with tiled floor and walls, shower bath, basin and WC

Ground Floor Landing - an additional bed is situated on the landing and can be screened by curtains

Note - the 3 bedrooms and landing provide for 6 persons, but my prices are based on a party of 4.

Outdoors - there is ample parking in front of the cottage for up to 3 cars, there is a patio area with garden furniture and a barbecue for those summer evenings. There is also access to lawned areas in the garden which is shared with the owners house. Guests are also welcome to walk in the fields surrounding the house which are located in a Site of Special Scientific Interest.

The North Wales region

North West Wales is famous for the Snowdonia National Park , which includes the highest peak in Wales. Bronturnor lies on the western edge of the national park and is situated between two River estuaries - the Dwyryd and Glaslyn. Both estuaries are very beautiful and offer opportunities for walking, bird watching and fishing.

The land around Bronturnor is designated as an SSI and is an important location for Lesser Horseshoe bats as well as other wildlife - birds of prey and badgers are often seen, as well as other birds, squirrels and rabbits.

“homely cottage”

Reviewed 8 Oct 2012

we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this homely cottage, it is quiet and peaceful but not far from all amenities. it was also pet friendly and everything was clean and tidy.

“Watch steam trains from the sofa!”

Reviewed 14 Sep 2012

If you want to travel on the little trains of Wales this cottage is for you. 5 min walk to Minffordd stations, steam trains can be watched at close range from the level crossing on the drive, or from the comfort of the sofa! Great for taking photographs! About half hour walk into pretty Portmeirion. Comfy and unique cottage. The dogs are rather over-friendly at first, but if you ignore them they soon realise you don't want to play.

“Ideal spot for a totally car-free holiday... with a dog!”

Reviewed 28 Apr 2012

Our holiday at Bron Turnor was a bit special because it's the first time (in the UK) that we holidayed without a car. Bron Turnor is ideal for this because it's a five minute walk from Minffordd railway station for main-line and Ffestiniog railway trains and from bus stop and shops in Penrhyn are only about a 15 minute walk away. Bron Turnor was very welcoming, homely and comfortable, and we really enjoyed our stay. Recommend it for anyone interested in seeing steam trains running by the front garden, walking, hiking mountains and generally relaxing, and for 60's cult TV fans, beautiful Portmeirion is also an easy walk away.
