“Great location, lovely appartment.”

Reviewed 15 Aug 2016

From the rear of the property you might be worried that it is a little bland, however as you walk into the kitchen/dining/living area and see the lovely view you will be pleasantly surprised. The accommodation was modern with some nice touches in décor and very comfortable. The kitchen is very well appointed and we really liked the open planned layout, it meant we could chat whilst preparing, and loading the dishwasher after, dining. We also found some useful tin foil etc. in one of the drawers, saved us having to buy any. We also loved the fact that with the sliding door open to the garden we could watch the estuary world go by, or sitting outside you have Porthmadog with the mountains behind, or look out to the wider estuary, very relaxing. The apartment is nicely positioned down a quiet road, it is easy walking distance to a couple of nice pubs and a lovely Thai restaurant, we particularly liked The Ship, and a short stroll to the town centre and the railway station. This to us is what gave it a great location, we walked to the station on two occasions taking one trip on the Ffestiniog line, and another to Caernarfon on the Welsh Highlands Railways. We both agreed that they were both good value for money, not having to drive, and taking in all the splendour and majesty of the mountains and valleys were well worth it. Caernarfon castle is definitely then worth a visit as one of the best preserved of it's kind. All in all an excellent place to stay and base yourself, not forgetting Portmeirion of course, a few minutes drive away. A couple of tips for future users, the handle for the plug in the sink in the bathroom is under the table :) Another would be to use the directions rather than your satnav when you get into town, we actually used the Yacht Club (LL49 9AT) to get close and it is a few yards passed.
