The fabulous ground floor of Wharfhouse (accomodation all on ground floor level) situated on the harbourside at Porthmadog the Wales coastal path runs along side , previously the wharfmasters office, the cottage was completely rebuilt in 2012 and all the furniture and furnishings are brand new. Two parking spaces are reserved in our private car park, we are ideally situated to walk into Porthmadog town for restaurants , shopping and pubs. Large lounge and dining area with window seat with views acrosss the cobbled square of Pen Cei. Two bedrooms, main bedroom with flat screen TV. Kitchen and bathroom with shower and bath.

I can honestly say that this place is the pinnacle of what you can expect from a five star accommodation. I throughly enjoyed my short stay and will be treating myself again.

We were under the impression that Greave Wharf House was a ‘complete upstairs and downstairs house’ and not a ground floor apartment/ flat within a converted house with (what seems to be) two permanent occupants living above. We booked this accommodation during October 2018 as a goal for my husband who was currently going through radiotherapy treatment for aggressive stage 4 throat cancer, we (as a family of three) wanted to finally (holidays cancelled last year due to cancer diagnosis and many complications) go away somewhere quiet to relax as a family and enjoy quality recuperation time in a ‘home from home’ environment with peace & quiet but in a central(ish) location for ease of walking to and from the main areas of Porthmadog. When we first arrived we were overjoyed at the location of the property, right on the harbour and just far enough away from the main high street shopping area. We soon realised that we didn’t have a ‘house’ but a bottom floor flat / apartment for our holiday, at first this was a little disheartening but we were happy with the high spec of the accommodation...however this was soon overshadowed. We soon realised that the accommodation was blighted by noise; from the many vehicles using the cobbled road directly outside the property (the noise, depending on the vehicle can range from loud to thunder loud), and the upstairs occupants moving about and using their appliances (the washing machine sounded like a spaceship about to take off) during all hours of the day and night. We did book an extra 2 nights to tag onto our holiday for the extra relaxation however we decided to leave a day early due to the noise levels as this was affecting my husbands well needed sleep to recover from his many operations and cancer treatment. The condensation was also an issue (my husband is now a neck breather an is susceptible to condensation/mild) and we nearly came left after two days...we decided to leave as many windows open as we could whilst we were in the property without getting too cold in the process. The kitchen was very well stocked with a range of items you wouldn’t normally get if you stayed at Centre Parcs i.e. salt, pepper, tea bags, sugar etc which was a complete bonus, the cutlery and dining tableware was of an extremely high quality...a home from home dream kitchen setup. The bathroom was good, a lovely size with a deep bath (the push down plug pushed itself up whenever it wanted to which was very annoying) and plenty of piping hot water. The toilet did get blocked a few times due to its small outlet and my husbands erratic bowel habits (again cancer related). The TV was a bonus as we didn’t know it had BT TV (basic) and we were able to log into our Netflix account. A lovely apartment/flat just a shame about the noise and it not being a house as we thought from the description.
