There are 3 golf courses within 2 miles, many beaches and walks in the vicinity and the nearest beach is only a 10 minute walk away. This cottage in Porthcawl offers the perfect location to enjoy many activities or just relax and unwind.

The South Wales region

This cottage is detached and is part of some old farm outbuildings that have been lovingly restored. The cottage is set within 4.5 acres of farm ground that include wild flowers and an orchard. Nearby there are numerous attractions including Porthcawl's many beaches, the Grand Pavilion, Porthcawl Classic Carriages, Porthcawl Promeade Princess and Trecco Bay Fun Fair. Kenfig National Nature Reserve, Bedford Park, Bryngarw Country Park, Parc Tondy, Nash Point Lighthouse, the Heritage Coast Center and Pleasure Steamers are other notible attractions. For castles, you have Candleston Castle, Ogmore Castle and Coity Castle, all nearby.

Porthcawl

Merthyr Mawr Sand Dunes are situated about one mile outside the village of Merthyr Mawr; they are a huge network of dunes, rolling over towards the Ogmore/Porthcawl coast, and once the largest sand dune system in Europe. Merthyr Mawr sand dunes claim fame to the highest single sand dune in Europe, known locally as the 'big dipper'. The dunes are very popular with kids, runners and local wildlife enthusiasts. Scenes from the famous film Lawrence of Arabia were filmed at the dunes.

In addition to the outdoor activities there are also plenty of indoor options nearby, including the Bridgend Designer Outlet, Odeon Complex and Ewenny Craft Centre. Being only a short drive away from Cardiff and Swansea there are also plenty of shopping opportunities and large events that can be easily reached from your Porthcawl accommodation.

Beaches

Newton Beach is a long sandy beach, approximately 3 miles long, stretching from Newton Point in the east to the mouth of the River Ogmore in the west. 0.5 miles

Water Sports

Ocean Quest water sports company based in Cardiff and Porthcawl, adventure and fun in the water with experienced aquatic sports instructors, from beginner to advanced. 2 miles

Walking

Variety of Circular walks as well as Glamorgan heritage Coast footpath.

Superb sea fishing is available in the Bristol Channel and beach and rock fishing can be found nearby. 0.5 miles

Game fishing – The Ogmore and Eweny rivers hold natural populations of brown trout in addition to a good sewin run. Day tickets from the Ogmore angling association. 4 miles

Grove Golf Coast boasts a superbly laid out 18 hole par 70 course offering some real challenges to golfers of all abilities. 1.2 miles

Royal Porthcawl has been described as one of the finest courses in the world by the former editor of Golf Illustrated. 2 miles
