Description

We are offering our spacious, warm and bright house just down the road from Whipsiderry in Porth as a perfect summer holiday hideaway. Looking out onto amazing views across Porth Valley we're only 2 minutes walk to the South West coast path, 5 minutes walk from the super family-friendly Porth beach and Whipsiderry surf beach and 5-10 minutes drive or bus from Newquay town centre and Watergate Bay, yet set in a quiet location. The house is full of character with terracotta stone floors, open brick-work, wooden beams and a beautiful steel spiral staircase. The downstairs open-plan living space with large kitchen/diner and lounge opens out to the sunny south-facing deck and garden with country views and within earshot of the rolling waves. Perfect for a relaxing bbq! Or if the weather is not in your favour, there is enough to see in the area without getting bored, and enough space in the house for everyone not to go crazy!

Downstairs the lounge area has a TV, DVD and wi-fi. There

Downstairs the lounge area has a TV, DVD and wi-fi. There is a utility room/ second kitchen with washer, dryer, gas hob, oven and fridge freezer. There is a downstairs cloakroom and toilet. Outside the kitchen is a courtyard ideal for storing surfboards, drying wetsuits, muddy wellies etc.

Upstairs, the three large bedrooms are spacious and light with velux windows and great views; the master bedroom (superking) is en-suite. There is a double bedroom and a twin (2x single) room. The large family bathroom has a whirlpool bath and separate shower. We have a small, enclosed garden. The driveway has room for two cars. A short walk down the hill takes you to Porth beach, with an idyllic award winning sheltered cove, brand-new promenade, golden sand, cafe (best coffee in Newquay!), beachside pub, restaurant and watersports. Within walking distance are a surf school, 2 indoor swimming pools and an outdoor heated pool and big playpark.

Other things you might like to know...This property accommodates 6 only. Please contact us beforehand as we may be able to accommodate an extra travel cot. We are happy to answer any questions you may have.

Please note: Not available for young-adult groups. Sorry, no pets. The spiral staircase may not be suitable for very young toddlers/crawlers. Contact us with any questions : )

Location description from owner

The England region

Cornwall is a glorious, beautiful county almost completely surrounded by the sea - there is almost 300 miles-worth of coastline to explore!

In the summer, Cornwall really shines brighter than anywhere else in Britain (in our opinion!). From beach picnics to dolphin-spotting; a dawn swim to shell-seeking; body-boarding or a maybe a mellow surf, Cornwall is the place to be. The region is full of things to do which needn't cost a fortune...Grab an ice cream from Moomaid at Porthtowan beach, swim the turquoise waters at Kynance Cove, fish mackerel from one of the boats at Newquay Harbour, and then a sun-down bbq on the terrace, or try the fish and chips at the Blue Fish Bar in Mawgan Porth. Maybe washed down with a local cider from Healeys Cider Farm. Whether you're after a relaxing beach break, a sightseeing trip or a try at something new, Cornwall has it all.

Porth

Closer to home, Newquay is a busy little seaside town with 7 top quality beaches, plenty of cafes, pubs and restaurants and an historic working harbour. Porth itself is a quiet seaside community with a glorious family friendly beach. It's perfect for children to swim/play as at low tide there are shallow pools to play happily in and there are lifeguards on duty in the summer. There is a popular pub, The Mermaid, right on the beach serving typical pub fayre. On the other side of the beach there is the Coast Cafe which is great for lunch, beach snacks and ice cream! The beach is only 5 minutes walk from the house. There is a wonderful beach accessible by some steep steps, opposite the turning to our road - a local's secret surf spot known as Whipsy.

To the left of Whipsy there is a small peninsula known as the island, once an Iron Age settlement - great for taking in the incredible scenery. There are two indoor swimming pools within walking distance - down the hill to Trevelgue Campsite Holiday Park, and up the hill to Sands Resort which also has a gym, a restaurant/bar and a great playpark. Only five minutes by car, or a beautiful 25 minute coastal walk, there is the popular Watergate Bay which is great for surfing/board hire and tuition, watersports, or a day at the beach and is home to Jamie Oliver's Restaurant 15, the Beach Hut Cafe, The Watergate Bay Hotel Cafe and Zacharys Restaurant - A foodie's heaven!

If you decide to venture out of town you will find that Newquay's central location is perfect for exploring all the top main attractions that Cornwall has to offer, with The Eden Project (18 miles), St Ives (33 miles), Padstow (15 miles), The Camel Trail, and various other lovely places. We are perfectly situated to explore all the beautiful beaches and villages on the North Coast of Cornwall, just turn right at the end of the road!
