The Cornwall region
Newquay and the surrounding areas have so much to offer visitors, with a great variety of exciting entertainment and a wide choice of activities; why not explore the clifftops, walk along one of the eleven superb beaches or visit one of the local attractions such as the Zoo. Newquay Zoo has a range of discovery trails throughout the year including a 5am dawn adventure to see the animals wake up and feed them breakfast. As the first gold award Green Tourism Business Scheme winner in Cornwall, this friendly environmental park encourages the family to leave the car at home and explore their surroundings on foot. The zoo is slap bang in the middle of The Newquay Discovery Trail where you can explore the interactive maps before your holiday and follow the cryptic clues on the engraved slate discs when you arrive to discover Newquay's best kept secrets. It may be best known for its surfing lifestyle, Cornish pasties and cream teas, but Newquay is also rich in rare species of plants and birds and boasts a diverse cultural, maritime and mining history.
Porth is a beach that families dream of with soft sand and rock pools galore. Located on the north coast of Cornwall it has a stream flowing down to the shoreline and even an island with a wooden bridge across to it providing invigorating walks and views of the north coast and Atlantic Ocean. Lifeguards patrol the beach from May to September, making it safe for swimming and bodyboarding. Excellent amenities include a restaurant, café, pub and shops.

"A sunny seaside sensation!"
Having never visited Cornwall before, my partner excitedly booked Seaglass having viewed literally a million other properties. Why Seaglass? Well, first and foremost, the location is prime – situated about 10 paces (albeit over the garden fence) from Sandy Porth beach, which I must say is a delightful and fairly large beach allowing for walks right up to the sea during the day, just close enough to Newquay to access on foot and far enough away that you can take quiet comfort in the fact that you'll hardly hear a soul in the evenings. The property itself is finished to a high standard, all the usual mod-cons for ease and a lovely warm living area with real wood burner (great!) and french windows looking out to the beach. The view from the double bedroom is stunning also with lovely cliff and sea views as far as the eye can see. Great wash room facilities with a nice sized tub (big enough for two!) and a modern power shower above which is great after spending a hot day on the beach! We were met with cornish biscuits and a bottle of white wine on arrival and left feeling like we'd had our reset buttons well and truly pushed! Many thanks to Clare for being a great host.
