Location description from owner

The Queensland region

Port Douglas is located approximately a one hour easy drive from the modern Cairns International Airport, along the picturesque coastline. Once settled into Villa Exotique, it is then only another 30 minute drive or a coach trip into the Daintree Rain Forest, where guests can take walks, visit a local restaurant or perhaps take a boat trip along the Daintree River for some 'croc' spotting! The climate is Tropical with a year round temperature of between 27 and 35 degrees, so a hat and cool summer clothes are recommended, although it is advised to bring some warmer items of clothing for the rare colder evening. The precinct area is mainly flat with parts of the surrounding district consisting of gently undulating hillside. A huge range of activities are on offer, including Cycling, Golf, Tennis, Reef trips and Snorkelling, Fishing trips, Helicopter rides, Sailing, a trip on the fabulous Kuranda Steam train, a massive South African class 24 locomotive which takes you to the beautiful 'Village in the Rain Forest', and many more exciting experiences within the region await the keen explorer!

Port Douglas

Sunday mornings at Port Douglas should always start with a visit to the fun filled markets located near the Inlet where a large range of locally made items are for sale along with fabulous locally grown fruit and veg. This visit should be followed by a leisurely breakfast at one of the nearby restaurants. The famous Port Douglas Church is also located beside the markets, and should be included in your walk around the town. For sun lovers, 4 mile beach is an easy walk from the edge of the shopping precinct, and protected swimming areas are provided for year round safety. Beach chairs and umbrellas are available for hire from the beach. During mid May, Port Douglas comes alive for two weeks of partying, as Carnivale arrives with all of it's colour and pizazz. The parade and open air concerts beside the gorgeous Inlet create an electric atmosphere of fun, food and parties! There are too many activities to list here, however the local tourist office will soon inform you of each of the the locations of this huge event.
