Wireless broadband is available throughout the property. A cot and/or high chair is available; please request them when booking so we can make sure they are present for your arrival.Electricity and heatingElectricity and heating costs are included in the price of your accommodation. Quay Cottage has central heating and there is also a open fireplace in the sitting room; kindling, matches and one basket of logs will be provided. Additional logs can be purchased from the hardware shop in Porlock.Linen and towelsBed linen, duvets, blankets and towels are provided for your convenience, but please bring your own beach towels if you wish to take towels with you on day trips. Bed linen is not supplied for the cot.Other provisionsA small amount of tea, coffee, sugar, milk and biscuits are provided to ensure you can have a hot drink as soon as you arrive. There may also be other non-perishable items like a salt, pepper and a few herbs or spices available.Cleaning materials such as washing up liquid, and surface cleaner will be present in the property. One or two toilet rolls will be provided.Outside the propertyFrom the dining area patio doors open onto a courtyard area with outside table and chairs, beyond which is a private walled garden with raised decking and a swinging seat.ParkingDesignated parking for two cars is available at Porlock Weir, which is a short walk (approximately 75 metres) across the bridge at the harbour and onto Turkey Island.DogsDogs are welcome by prior arrangement (maximum of 2). A supplementary fee of £25 will be added to your invoice. Please do not allow you dogs on the furniture or upstairs and do not leave them alone in the property at any time.SmokingQuay Cottage is strictly non-smoking.Local amenitiesPorlock Weir is literally on the doorstep of Quay Cottage. There are two restaurants (The Cafe and Miller's at the Anchor), a pub (all three are dog-friendly) and a range of individual shops such as tea rooms, Exmoor Glass and Studio 7 (imported beautiful textiles).The village of Porlock is approximately 1.5 miles from Quay Cottage and boasts three pubs, two grocery shops, a traditional local butcher, chemist, cash machine, petrol station, hardware shop, visitor centre and a range of independent restaurants, shops and tea rooms.Many of the shops in Porlock Weir and Porlock are open during traditional hours of 9 am to 5 pm, although hours are often extended during the summer season. Conversely, some shops also reduce their opening hours out of season.Minehead is the nearest town, approximately 7 miles away. Here you will find the larger supermarkets and petrol stations (Tesco and Morrison's are both situated on the outskirts of the town and have longer opening hours), most major high street banks with cash machines, plus a range of other shops throughout the town.Asda and Sainsbury's offer an online grocery shopping and delivery service to this area; please ensure you are at the property for the time you have booked your delivery.Arrival and departureThe property will be ready from 4 pm on the day of your arrival. Please depart by 10 am on the last day of your stay. Please leave the property clean and tidy so that we can guarantee it will be ready on time for our next guests.Changeover daysQuay Cottage is available for week breaks (Friday to Friday) during the peak season (from May to September). Short breaks of three or four nights (from Friday to Monday or Monday to Friday) are available from October to April (excluding Christmas and Easter). Situated in a quiet corner of West Somerset, Porlock Weir is nestled in a sheltered spot beneath the moor along the beautiful coastline - where the moor meets the sea.Porlock Weir is one of the most beautiful places in Somerset. It is located 1.5 miles from the coastal village of Porlock and is in the heart of Exmoor National Park.The port of Porlock Weir has a long and colourful history but today it's a quiet harbour and a thriving community that welcomes tourists every year, many of whom come to enjoy the pretty scenery, shops, tea rooms, great ale and award winning local cuisine.Porlock Weir is a great destination for anyone looking for the perfect setting for a holiday in the great outdoors! There's so much to see and do, from short walks to long expeditions across the moors or horse riding, taking in a safari or sight-seeing at your own pace around the 'picture postcard' villages and hamlets.
