Description

Coachman's Cottage offers a unique bolthole for couples seeking a peaceful coastal retreat. The charming old stable block has been renovated to a fantastic standard, yet retains many original features.

The cottage has a very bright and spacious feel, downstairs is the kitchen with dining area, a separate living room with floor to ceiling windows, and bathroom with shower over the bath. The kitchen door opens directly into a private walled courtyard, providing the perfect spot to eat alfresco. Upstairs the bedroom enjoys superb views across the garden, Porlock Vale, to the sea and beyond.

The cottage is situated in outstanding walking country and for the more energetic there are coastal, woodland and moorland walks served by a network of superb paths - all within a stones throw.

Coachman's Cottage kitchen is fitted with dishwasher, washing machine, fridge, freezer, microwave, electric oven and hob. Other equipment includes toaster, kettle, a variety of kitchen utensils, cutlery, crockery and glasses.

A television, DVD player and CD player is provided in the living room plus a second television in the bedroom and wireless broadband is available throughout the property.

A travel cot and/or high chair is available; please request them when booking so we can make sure they are present for your arrival.

Electricity and heating

Electricity and heating costs are included in the price of your accommodation. Coachman's Cottage is fitted with central heating throughout, plus underfloor heating in the bathroom. There is also a log-burner in the living room, one basket of logs will be provided to get you started and additional logs can be purchased from the hardware shop in Porlock.

Linen and towels

Bed linen, duvets, blankets and towels are provided for your convenience, but please bring your own beach towels if you wish to take towels with you on day trips. Bed linen is not supplied for the cot.

Other provisions

Small amounts of basic supplies are provided - salt, pepper, oil, tea, coffee, sugar, toilet rolls, washing up materials, etc.

Parking

Coachman's Cottage is set alongside the main house at Broomclose and has easy parking for two cars.

Outside the property

Coachman's Cottage is approached via a private drive (shared with Broomclose House). There is a private courtyard adjacent to the cottage and access to a stock-free and fenced meadow immediately behind the property.

Dogs

Dogs are welcome by prior arrangement (maximum of 2). A supplementary fee of £25 will be added to your invoice. Please do not allow your dogs on the furniture or upstairs and do not leave them alone in the property at any time.

Smoking

Coachman's Cottage is strictly non-smoking.

Local amenities

The village of Porlock is approximately 1/2 mile from Coachman's Cottage and boasts three pubs, two grocery shops, a traditional local butcher, chemist, cash machine, petrol station, hardware shop, visitor centre and a range of independent restaurants, shops and tea rooms.

The harbour at Porlock Weir is approximately 1 mile from Coachman's Cottage. There are two restaurants (The Cafe and Miller's at the Anchor), a pub (all three are dog-friendly) and a range of individual shops such as tea rooms, Exmoor Glass and Studio 7 (imported beautiful textiles).

Many of the shops in Porlock and Porlock Weir are open during traditional hours of 9 am to 5 pm, although hours are often extended during the summer season. Conversely, some shops also reduce their opening hours out of season.

Minehead is the nearest town, approximately 6 miles from Coachman's Cottage. Here you will find the larger supermarkets and petrol stations (Tesco and Morrison's are both situated on the outskirts of the town and have longer opening hours), most major high street banks with cash machines, plus a range of other shops throughout the town.

Arrival and departure

The property will be ready from 4 pm on the day of your arrival. Please depart by 10 am on the last day of your stay. Please leave the property clean and tidy so that we can guarantee it will be ready on time for our next guests.
