The Tuscany region

Tuscany is one of Italy’s best-loved regions. It combines a beautiful countryside reminiscent of the landscapes of Renaissance masterpieces, a rich artistic heritage including exquisite art and architecture, a glorious history, excellent wines and delicious food. Tuscany is also well known for its splendid landscapes with charming low hills covered with olive groves, vineyards, woods, isolated cypress trees, and beautiful old farmhouses. Tuscany is a refuge for the spirit as well as an ideal place for rambles or for idle contemplation of views that have not changed in centuries. Every town offers unique characteristics, charm, and regional cuisine making each one worthy of your time. Florence 50 km – 1 hour away Tuscany's capital and Italy's greatest city of art, with its romantic Pontevecchio, its remarkable Duomo (cathedral) with the Baptisery, its Palazzo Vecchio, its Galeria degli Uffizi (paintings), its Galeria dell' Academia (the David of Michelangelo) or its Ponte Vecchio. Siena 100 km -1 1/2 hour: with its unique medieval structure of towers and palaces, its beautiful Piazza del Campo and its famous horse races, the "Palio of Siena" Pisa 30 km -30 minutes away with its famous leaning tower Lucca 45 km – 40 minutes away with its magnificent fortifications and charming piazzas. San Gimignano 48 km – 1 hour away with its towering houses and campanile Volterra 45 km – 1 hour away with its Museo Etrusco Guarnacci , its Palazzo dei Priori (the first palace of Tuscany), its middle ages streets and its famous alabaster workshops
