Your luxury 2 bed ground floor apartment overlooks a pool with a beautiful view of the sea. There is a spacious and well appointed lounge diner and fully equipped kitchen, including water filter which means you can drink directly from the tap (saves you buying water). We have provided a variety of adult and children's games for you to enjoy when you want a 'family night in'. Although we provide a selection of DVD's for you, don't forget to bring your favourite DVD's and music - these can be played on the TV. Connection to the internet can be bought on a weekly basis.

There are two large bedrooms. One with a king size bed and en-suite. The other with twin beds and bathroom opposite. Both bedrooms have a large double wardrobe and chest of drawers. The main bedroom has a dressing table and hair dryer. We provide all linen including beach towels.There is a double bed settee in the lounge.

Step out onto a balcony with BBQ and outside furniture - fresh fish can be bought from the pier in Santa Maria......delicious

Easy access to Santa Maria by taxi or if you wish you can walk. The scenic route via the beach can take as long as you wish (don't forget to take plenty of water), the direct route via the road takes about 40 minutes to walk. There is a small supermarket on site and plenty of supermarkets in Santa Maria (not quite as big as you experience at home) that can provide you with all you need.

You only need to walk 2 mins to be on the beautiful unspoilt beach with golden sands and a walkway to Ponta Preta and then onto Santa Maria. But don't forget, if you don't want to cook there are a multitude of restaurants in Santa Maria - be daring - you will find some lovely little restaurants in the side streets.

The Ilha do Sal region

Sal is about five and a half hours south of the UK, just of the west coast of Africa. The weather is warm all year around; classified as dry-tropical, with an average temperature ranging between 21c - 31c. There are two main seasons: a dry season between November and July, and a comparatively humid season between August and October.

It is a place to go to if you enjoy sunshine, the beach and water sports. However some months are better for specific activities:

Kite surfers and wind surfers - November to April

Divers - June to December

Beach lovers may wish to avoid the winter months

Fishermen - May to October (Marlin) and August for tuna

Photographers avoid December to March

Peace Seekers avoid July & August

Ponta Preta

Paradise Beach is situated about a 40 minute walk or 5 minute taxi drive north west of Santa Maria. It is not yet a fully functioning resort. The accommodation part is built although phases 2 and 3 are not yet complete. The apartment is situated in the completed phase 1 and surrounded by beautiful gardens. There are several large pools to choose from as well as children's pools and pool bars.

Facilities such as reception, restaurants, bars, beach club, spa & gym and mini-market will commence in mid 2014 and are expected to be completed by November 2014.

It is a quiet and peaceful location within easy access of the bars and shops in Santa Maria. I feel very safe when walking in the area and absolutely love eating at the Ponta Preta beach shack - simple, fresh food beautifully cooked with the most stunning views. Everyone is relaxed and chilled.

It is difficult to be totally up to date as things are developing all the time - each time we visit things have developed further.
