Location description from manager

The Tuscany region

Tuscany is aptly known as the cultural heart of Italy. Being the birthplace of the Italian renaissance, the earliest manifestation of the later European renaissance, Tuscany is home to no less than six world heritage sites including Tuscany?s capital Florence and the cathedral & leaning tower of Pisa.Outside of these larger cities in Tuscany, one will be greeted by a vista of lush rolling hills, sedate valleys and medieval towns perched on many a hilltop. It?s no wonder why rural Tuscany is something of a Mecca for artists & photographers, not to mention lovers of fine Tuscan wine, such as Chianti and Montepulciano which has also made this region famous.Whether you?re exploring urban or rural Tuscany, the architecture will leave you awe struck. From the traditional farm buildings and medieval hilltop towns to the grand masonry which adorns the stone buildings of Florence & Pisa.

Ponsacco

Visitors to Tuscany come for many reasons - many come in search of fine art, others to explore the extraordinary countryside. Gourmets and wine buffs descend on Tuscany to enjoy the simple yet wonderful cuisine and wine. Walkers enjoy the mountain paths, cyclists the rolling hills, summer vacationers; the sea coast and islands. Students come to learn the beautiful Italian language and culture.

From the Etruscans to the Romans to the Renaissance, Tuscany is possibly the greatest repository of art in the world, from extraordinary paintings and sculptures to frescoes and architectural masterpieces – this captivating region is a hub of Italian life; boasting the finest dining, the finest wines and breathtakingly picturesque scenery.

Guest at Casa Colonica can play golf, tennis, go horse riding, shopping or visit one of the numerous cultural hot spot in the area.
