“Unspoilt harbour location, excellent pubs, friendly locals & dog friendly”

Reviewed 24 Feb 2014

Just come back from a stormy weekend at Polperro with my partner & our 3 girls (dogs). It was enthralling watching & listening to the huge waves crash on the cliffs and harbour wall whilst being tucked up in our little cottage! When we did eventually venture out, we walked along the coastal path which has some breathtaking views of the channel and the Cornish rugged coastline, however, some parts of the path are closed due to the storms and you are diverted to fields which are on safer ground higher up. We also explored the unspoilt narrow and windy ginnels where only horse and cart could fit through them. In the evening, it seemed rude not to sample some of the local beer and food so we headed to "The Blue Peter" which had been recommended. The beer quality was very good with a choice of various and changing real ales. The food was fresh and of exellent quality, especially the fish soup/dishes. An added bonus to the pubs in Polperro is that they welcome dogs even in the eating areas.......it seemed you were the odd one out if you didn't have a dog! The cottage is a typical small and cosy fishermans cottage. It's fully equipped and is impeccably clean, tidy and well maintained. It's on 3 floors so has lots of stairs, so I wouldn't recommend to anyone who finds stairs difficult to manage. The only thing to point out about the cottage, is that you can't access the cottage with your car due to the narrow streets. There is a parking space allocated in the main car park which is 0.5 mile away from the cottage so if you are like us and pack as if you're staying for a year, then I recommend the "luggage taxi" which is a bloke on a quad bike with a trailer on the back which will take your luggage from your car to the cottage door.

“Small but quaint Cornish fisherman's cottage”

Reviewed 1 Jan 2014

This typical Cornish fisherman's cottage is very quaint and pretty, laid out over 3 floors. The location is fabulous being in the heart of the very pretty Warren part of Polperro with winding little lanes going past lovely little cottages. Further up the lane is the track to Talland Bay and great views over the harbour. The cottage itself is very small, what I would call cosy, and to be fair the loo/shower room is likely too small for anyone slightly larger than average height or width! The main bedroom is lovely and this together with the living room have views over the harbour. The cottage is adequately kitted out but furnishings and fixings are a little dated and tired. Space in the kitchen needs maximising perhaps with better/more storage space and layout in the lounge could be altered to make better use of the available space. All in all a pleasant cottage.

“Clean,comfy,convenient and good value.”

Sunny corner is the 10th cottage holiday we have had in Polperro, the cottages always live up to expectations, and this one was one of the best.We had our six month old granddaughter with us to so being near the car park was useful as she needed so much stuff!. Clean and comfortable,we had a great holiday, and will be back to Sunny Corner next year.
