The Cornwall region

Talland Bay lies between Looe and Polperro and is one of the most memorable and secluded coves along the coastline of South Cornwall. It has three small beaches flanked by a rocky foreshore and a beautiful undeveloped coastline.

The quiet hamlet of Talland consists of a scattering of houses and cottages and an ancient church, away from the busy tourist areas further to the north and west. The idyllic bay is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, forms part of the Heritage Coast Cornwall, and was once renowned for smuggling.

The Bay community, set on a secluded hillside with direct access to the shore, is a haven of tranquility, so rarely found in such an accessible location. It is a perfect location for walking, fishing and cycling or just relaxing and enjoying the views.

The Southwest Coastal Path gives wonderful cliff-top walks east to the fishing port of Looe or west to the picture-postcard village of Polperro, one of the prettiest harbours in Cornwall. Both Looe and Polperro have many excellent restaurants and cosy pubs with local seafood, of course, a speciality.

The area is home to stunning golf courses including Looe, Lostwithiel, the internationally renowned St. Mellion and the dramatic cliff-top courses of Carlyon Bay and Whitsand Bay.

Within a short drive lies Fowey with its picturesque harbour and sailing centre and further inland is the Eden project, whose futuristic “biomes” contain plants from around the world and which is the most visited tourist destination in Cornwall.

For those in search of a faster pace, a 40 minutes drive brings you to Newquay, home to the Blue Reef Aquarium, Newquay Zoo and the vibrant surf scene at Fistral Beach.

“Relaxing and breathtakingly beautiful!”

Reviewed 29 Apr 2014

We stayed in this house for a week over Easter and absolutely loved it. To wake every morning to a view like that was amazing. The house is well equipped, clean and very comfortable. We didn't want to leave. The site itself is well run by a small group of people who are very friendly and attentive. It's not the first time we stayed at Talland Bay. We previously rented a different house which was equally as lovely. We will be back to try a different house too! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Hi Chris, Thank you so much for your lovely review. We're so glad you enjoyed 38 just as much as 27. The view up there is particularly stunning... It was great to see you and your family again, we look forward to welcoming you back... possibly at New Year?! Warmest Regards, The Bay Talland Team.

“Wow, what a beautiful house.”

This house really has it all, Stayed for a week in June with my husband, daughter, her partner and two grandchildren aged 8 and ten ,we all fell in love with this house. Smaller than the pictures show but big enough for the six of us, All top quality appliances lovely decor so warm, easy to keep clean and the views are truly amazing, the hot tub is an,added bonus (which we used even in the rain) we cant wait to come back next year, all i can say is what a find. I felt sad when we had to leave.

Hi there, Thank you for your wonderful feedback, it's always great to receive such positive comments. The sea view hot tub in number 38 is a fantastic spot to relax and enjoy the surroundings of Talland. We're glad you had a lovely stay, and we hope to see you all back soon, Kind Regards, The Bay Talland team

“Beautiful house, beautiful views, beautiful place.”

This was our first stay at the Bay Talland and we were impressed from the very start. Stuart and Lynne, the managers, as well as the other staff were very friendly and gave us a lovely warm welcome. The house was spotless, well designed, tastefully decorated and had all we needed. There were lovely extra touches such as scones, cream and jam to make cream teas, on arrival. The views of the sea and the cove were just lovely and to sit in the hot tub on a warm sunny evening was perfect. The swimming pool and facilities there were great too. Our children loved everything about the place and had a great holiday. We feel that we have discovered a real gem and are already planning our next holiday there! The only problem was that we did have to leave at the end.....
