Location description from owner

The Valencian Country region

The village of Polop is located inland in the Costa Blanca North in an area known as the Marina Alta. The local economy is based mainly on agriculture. The village is a delight to explore and perfect for a morning or afternoon ramble. The hill, where the old castle was situated is encircled by a medieval wall, and is a must to walk up. Follow the Stations of the Cross to the castle remains and you will be well rewarded with some fabulous views before you enjoy a cool drink at the café bar at the top. There you will marvel at spectacular views to Calpe, Albir and Altea on the coast and inland to Callosa and the Sierra Bernia Mountains. The area is dominated by the Leon Dormido the Sleeping Lion Mountain which lies behind Polop. Places of interest and ideas of things to do in Polop include: Village Centre: take a wander around the picturesque old streets and charming church or the castle. Walk up the hill to the old castle for some spectacular views. There is a small market on Wednesday morning. Mountain bikes hired locally. Whatever you are looking for be it the Quiet of Polop or hustle & bustle of the coast. Polop can easily be combined with the nearby resort of Benidorm. It provides a perfect contrast to the busy, commercial beaches of Benidorm. So spend the morning exploring the village of Polop then head to one of the many nearby award winning beaches for an afternoon of sun, sea and sand. Spend a day exploring the nearby historic mountain top village of Guadalest. Here you will have panoramic views of the coast and mountains and can enjoy a boat trip on the turquoise waters of the lake. If you dont fancy cooking much you can enjoy a meal in Polop. There are many bars and cafes to choose from offering traditional Spanish and International cuisine. Then maybe head to the nearby waterfalls known as Fonts del Algar for a day splashing around in the crystal clear mountain waters and plunge pool. “Amazing first class service thank you bill.”

Reviewed 21 Jul 2016

What a gem of a place ,apartment was clean spotless and very well equipped ,the terrace outside was amazing and not overlooked ,well furnished good beds and in a nice apartment block with friendly neighbors nice and quite and all within walking distance to bars restaurant s and shops tapas at the castelle a must very friendly staff made us very welcome ,the people of polop are friendly you have to say hola first the man walking his dog especially ,thought we had sunstroke as we were walking round in circles exploring the lovely quaint streets.a car is essential the streets are narrow so take care ,and last but not least bill the owner very friendly very helpful very informative ,we felt very reassured that bill was only a call away and would sort out any problems you might have....bill you're a star hope to see you again soon thanks again John and Linda .

thanks for your review.....We are always delighted when guests mention our village in such a positive way.....also its a pleasure when you have enjoyed your stay in the apartment....we look forward to your return

“Excellent location for climbing and walking”

Reviewed 21 Feb 2016

Bill was away but his friend Pete who welcomed us couldn't have been more helpful even running me to the nearby supermarket the first evening so we didn't lose our parking spot. The narrow streets and parking seemed a little daunting at first but a couple of days into the trip we were pros negotiating the streets and there are loads of free parking areas all within a short walk of the apartment. Polop is a wonderful traditional Spanish town, a world away from Benidorm. Quiet but with supermarkets, shops and restaurants within easy reach. The apartment is fitted out with everything you could possibly need and we cooked most evenings. Really clean and presented to a high standard. The roof terrace is possibly the best in Polop for views and eating breakfast there every morning was a joy. It's best to have a car but there's lots of climbing and walking just a short distance away.

Thanks for your kind words...........We are so pleased you took full advantage of our village and countryside.........and we look forward to your return

“Beautiful Spanish village, excellent property”

Reviewed 7 Jul 2015

My partner and I stayed here last week and absolutely loved it. The location of the apartment is in a traditional Spanish village but not too far away from local amenities, the bakery was a short walk away, as was the local tapas bars. The apartment itself was lovely and clean and had all the facilities you could wish for. The outside terrace area has a 4 seater dinning table and 4 sun loungers, the setting is absolutely perfect if you fancy a meal in or having a drink outside of an evening (there is also a dining area inside). The only thing I could possibly say that needed a little improvement would be the shower- more power needed. Other than that, super. Bill (the owner) is very accommodating and helpful, couldn't do enough for you and nothing was too much trouble. All in all its a perfect place if you fancy a get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, you can chill out in the village or one of the neighbouring villages and take in the local culture, (I would recommend a trip to Altea) or if you did fancy a night out in Benidorm a taxi is only approx €20 away! We cannot wait to return!

Thank you so much .....we are please you both enjoyed your visit......We look forward to welcoming you back....Regards Bill

We stayed in a lovely, clean apartment in Polop. We were met by Bill who showed us round the apartment and told us places to go. He was so helpful. We were right in the middle of everything, lovely mountain walks and cycling. Lots of bars in Polop and restaurants nearby. Benidorm not far, beautiful Altea nearby and plenty of sight seeing all so close. Just so relaxing to sit on the large ,beautiful terrace of the apartment with beautiful views. A wonderful place, will definitely go back to this lovely apartment. Thank you Bill.

“Nice to be in centre of genuine Spanish town.”

Reviewed 21 Apr 2013

Picked this apartment because it was away from the centre of Benidorm and wanted to stay in a smaller Spanish town. This turned out to be an excellent and wise decision. The apartment is at the top of a traditional building in the centre of town but has been very well modernised and has everything one expects for a relaxing stay. The piece de resistance is the outside terrace where the views are spectacular of the surrounding hills across the rooftops of the town. A short walk down the hill brings you right into the town square where there are several bars all of which offer a friendly welcome. The apartment owners are extremely helpful and give plenty of advice on what to see locally. This apartment can be recommended for anyone wanting to experience something different to the hustle and bustle of Benidorm, yet even that can be reached in under half an hour. The only thing to be aware of is the fact that there is no lift to the apartment so possibly not suitable for anyone with physical limitations; however, the views are worth the short climb for anyone else!

“A beautiful apartment with breathtaking views”

Reviewed 8 Apr 2013

We loved this apartment. It is located in the centre of the beautiful, unspoiled Spanish village of Polop and is close to all amenities yet is set back far enough to be very peaceful and relaxing. The apartment was pristine and the cleanliness was faultless. The view from the balcony is breathtaking and we spent many a happy hour sipping wine and nibbling tapas in the fresh air and sunshine. Within a couple of minutes you can walk down to the square where there are a number of bars and restaurants to choose from. We tried them all whilst we were there and received a friendly welcome in every one. The famous resort of Benidorm is only about 20 minutes away and is a complete contrast to the gentle, relaxed pace of Polop.

“Fantastic place!”

Reviewed 2 Apr 2013

I rented this apartment for a short stay near Benidorm with my family (including 2 kids, 2 and 4 years old). It was a great choice! Polop town is beautiful, with breath-taking views, beautiful architecture, relaxing place yet close enough to many other towns in the area with different attractions. The attic is fantastic, renovated beautifully yet keeping the essence of a historical building. Very well taken care of, clean, and with everything we needed. The balcony was a plus, from which we could enjoy even more the view. Bill was extremely friendly and flexible, and the kids loved the Easter eggs he left for them :). I would highly recommend it to anyone (except people with disability, or family with very young kids as there is no elevator, but my kids loved the stairs!), much better than staying in the busy Benidorm (to my taste), still close enough you can visit it, but staying here will feel like a real vacation!.
