Description

La casa blu - the blu house was one of the first houses built in the area by a colonel in the Italian army who lived there with his wife. He built the house with blue bricks to reflect the colour of the sea and planted various fruit trees to match each season of the year.

'Pizzo Spina' translates as a 'pointed thorn' and depicts correctly the upright position of the house facing out to the sea.Finale is a small and peaceful picturesque sea side town. It is located just 15 minutes drive from the super busy tourist resort town of Cefalu'.

The house is a self-catering 100sqm within an Italian villa with 1 kitchen, 1 large living room, 1 bathroom (shower), 1 spacious sized bedroom, 1 cot, 2 free bicycles, private parking, and a beautiful garden to relax and enjoy the stunning sea views.

The villa in Finale is located in a very tranquil setting and is accessible to all the town amenities. We can accomodate a max of 2 adults with 1 to 2 children

Interaction with Guests -

Although we (the owners) are not there to greet you personally, you will definitely feel our spirit and love for the house, garden and Sicily in general. We can certainly help advise you by email on where to go and on any queries you may have. My father Rosario and mother Pina will most likely meet you.

They have big hearts but not much English! They love speaking Italian in a loud voice because they think that way you understand them :) We leave an information folder in the apartment on things to see and do in the area. If you love olive trees, my father rejoices in showing people his bit of land in the countryside :)

Location description from owner

The Sicily region

Sicily offers to the visitor a unique and unforgettable scenery made of big and small bays, promontories, steep cliffs, coves, sand dunes, granite rocks, wild islands, sun-burned countryside, natural parks and reserves, gorges hollowed by rivers, marine and land grottoes, tuff quarries…

The shores and sea of Sicily are astonishing: very fine white sand beaches alternate at red cliffs, white promontories, desert dunes; it is easy to come across old and charming tuna-fisheries or small fisher-men villages surrounded by a blue or emerald green sea.

The vegetation in Sicily is amazing: palms, olive trees, vineyards, orange and lemon trees, pine trees, carobs, oleanders and bougainvilleas grow all along the coast, while on mountain slopes and on inaccessible volcanoes are woods of chestnuts, beech, oaks, hazelnuts, fir trees and holm oaks. But Sicily gives you also the opportunity to know its culture and its traditions gathered through centuries of history and under different foreign dominations. Ancient customs, popular feasts, holy processions and gastronomic delights are waiting for you on every corner of the island.

You may rediscover its thousands years old history through the architecture of churches, buildings and monuments, through the old arts and crafts and in the various tastes of Sicilian dishes. Wherever you go you will find traces of the island’s glorious past: Palaeolithic grottoes, Roman villas, Greek temples, Benedictine monasteries, Norman towers, Punic ships, Medieval castles, Arab mosques, Baroque churches, Art Nouveau buildings and a warm and a sincere hospitality.

Water Sports in the area- Surfing- Snorkeling- Scuba diving- Canoeing- Fishing- Jet-ski- SailingCefalu' Town: Cefalù (with the accent on the last syllable) is a medieval town built on the site of an ancient Sicanian and Greek settlement. Its name derives from the Greek word for a cape; the ancient city was called Cephaloedion.

Except for a few archaeological items in the local museum, all that remains of these ancient cultures today is a small structure, the Temple of Diana, on the mountain overlooking the town. Cefalu is now a very busy sea-side resort town with a long sandy beach, a historic town centre (including the beautiful Dome Cathedral), and many restaurants and cafes.

Museum Mandralisca:This museum is in Via Mandralisca, next to the Duomo square, and offers the art collection of the baron Enrico Piraino di Mandralisca and a very nice library, containing about 6,000 volumes and including a lot of sixteenth-century texts, two incunabula, as well as history, literature, philosophy and nature books, and nineteenth-century newspapers.

There is a splendid numismatic collection with coins from Lipari and Cefalù. In the art gallery you find works of art from various periods. The most famous work is the "Portrait of an Unknown Man" by Antonello da Messina, one of the most famous painters of the European fifteenth century
