Location description from owner

The Balearic Islands region

The Mallorca/Majorca region

Mallorca, set in the Mediterranean off the eastern coast of Spain is the largest of the Balearic Islands and the most varied. For many years Mallorca was synonymous with mass tourism but in recent years it has become a quality destination.

Whilst some areas in the south and east have been over developed with exuberant resorts, the capital, Palma still retains its historical flavour sporting a magnificent Gothic cathedral and the old quarter with its narrow cobbled streets. In the north of the island, nestling below the peaks of the majestic Serra de Tramuntana mountain range is the charming old historic town of Pollensa and the family friendly resort of Puerto Pollensa, fronting its wonderful bay and long, sandy beach.

This is an island of immense variety with all the ingredients for an unforgettable stay - dramatic mountain scenery, golden beaches, hidden coves, timeless villages and ancient monasteries, an excellent range of sports both on land and water, plus a distinctive and varied cuisine.

Pollenca

POLLENSA is one of Mallorca’s most celebrated cultural towns with most of the historic medieval centre remaining intact. The El Calvario, comprises of 365 steps at the top of which is a small chapel housing the much-revered statue of Mare de Déu. The Plaça Major is home to a cluster of excellent restaurants, cafes and bars and a great setting for long leisurely lunches or dinners; and a busy weekly market held on Sundays. In July & August the famous Music Festival is held which attracts some of the most well known artists worldwide.

PUERTO POLLENSA is a picturesque resort which stretches along a sheltered horseshoe-shaped bay lined with sandy beaches, set against the backdrop of the Tramuntana Mountains. The resort started as a small fishing village and is far quieter and more laid back than the exuberant resorts of the Bay of Palma.

SPORTS enthusiasts are well catered for in this area. Apart from the wonderful sandy beaches there is a good selection of water sports, ranging from windsurfing to sailing, snorkeling to scuba diving. There are also many land based sporting facilities including two golf courses, tennis and opportunities for cycling, walking, bird watching and horse riding.

“A perfect mallorquin christmas”

Reviewed 16 Jan 2017

This beautiful villa was more than we could have ever hoped for. Spending Christmas in Mallorca was something we had always wanted to do and the accommodation we chose was perfect. It merged cozy evenings with fresh sunny days making it a Christmas we will always remember. The villa itself was clean, warm, spacious and cozy for the winter evenings. The bathrooms and kitchen were perfectly equipped. The outside of the villa was truly breathtaking with the garden being so well kept, the pool spotlessly clean (although no swimming in December, only toe dipping), the BBQ area and washing facilities well equipped, and comfortable sun beds to sleep off the lovely Spanish cooking. Special touches included a wonderful welcome pack including everything for a continental breakfast, Christmas decorations including a whole tree!!. The surrounding area was quiet and secluded, with only the birds to listen to. Easily accesible by car and perfect for anyone with accessibility requirements. The wifi was excellent. The large supermarkets nearby were very handy. You might think that being in the north of the island makes getting to other towns a chore, but I must say that the roads are excellent with Inca only 30 mins away and Palma 50 mins- making this the perfect location for anyone wanting to explore other parts of the island. I would highly recommend this villa to anyone looking for something reliably relaxing, accessible and very welcoming. Perfect for summer or winter!

“Fantastic villa - peaceful location”

Reviewed 7 Sep 2016

This was our third visit to Cala 2. Can't fault anything about the villa , location or the attentiveness of Susan and her family. The welcome pack is great, the villa is well equipped and extremely clean and well looked after. The pool is great, my boys lived in it for two weeks. Majorca is a beautiful island especially Pollensa. Hope to see you soon.

“Fantastic Stay - Would Recommend to Family & Friends!”

Reviewed 17 Jun 2016

We thoroughly enjoyed the 2 weeks we stayed in Cala II and would definitely recommend it to family and friends. We found the villa without too much trouble the roads leading into it are quite narrow with very sharp turns, we were glad our car wasn't too big. However, the private setting was fantastic. There are other villas around but you get a lovely feeling of being in the countryside and the pool area is completely private. A car is essential. There are 2 large supermarkets about a 5min drive away and it's less than a 10min drive into Port de Pollensa. The villa was the cleanest rental property I have arrived to - spotless! Susan had also left a welcome pack which was fantastic and included loads of things this really went above and beyond in terms of service and was such a lovely surprise. There is also lots of info provided on things to see and do in Mallorca and useful tips for when you are staying on the island. The villa is well kitted out lots of kitchen stuff if you plan on eating in and a great outdoor BBQ area. There are about 5 or 6 pool loungers and a large umbrella plus a lovely shaded outdoor dining area with seating for 6. The pool itself is a very good size but it does dip quite sharply and is very deep at one end. There is no fence for kids but we managed fine with our 18m old he enjoyed a few dips! As it states online no pool towels provided so we bought our own over there. Susan provided a high chair for us and also a great cot not a travel cot, a proper little cot with comfy mattress and she also provided the cot sheets and a little duvet. The bedrooms are all air conditioned. The bed sheets and towels were changed about 3 times over the 2 weeks. The only constructive comment I would have is that the beds are a bit hard. There are clear instructions for the various washing machine cycles which was very handy. Susan popped by during our stay and was super welcoming she even dropped over toys for our 18m old! In terms of the wider area we felt that Port de Pollensa was definitely the nicest area up north (versus Port d’Alcudia and C’an Picafort etc) the beach was perfect for our toddler sandy, shallow for a decent distance and no waves! Sun loungers were put out on the beach from the start of June. There is a super selection of really good restaurants in Port de Pollensa and we enjoyed lots of leisurely strolls around the Marina and prom. We always got parking in the car park at the Marina you can pretty much park anywhere here, around the roundabout and on the yellow lines, we never saw anyone get a ticket! We also went to the beaches at Cala Sant Vincenc which is about 15mins drive away. The second beach you meet is small and very scenic. There is a handy car park just across the road and 3 restaurants for lunch. Alcudia is also definitely worth a visit. It's a really pretty walled town about 15mins drive from the villa cobbled pedestrianised streets with lots of cafes, restaurants and little shops. Overall I would definitely recommend a stay in Cala II and we will be back again. Thanks for everything Susan!

“Secluded countryside location - ideal for families!”

Reviewed 17 Jun 2013

We have just returned from our holiday in Pollensa at Cala II. We had a fantastic time and could not fault the villa. We received good communication from the owner Susan and appreciated the welcome pack on arrival near midnight! We had clear instructions on how to find the villa as it is hidden away from the main road. There is an Eroski and Lidl within a 10 minute drive to stock up on food and drink. The pool is perfect depth for young children as a third of the pool is at a constant depth of 60cm. We would recommend children still using arm bands / floats as it becomes deep quickly past the steps. There is air conditioning in the bedrooms which is a great way to cool down. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend this villa. Shane, Angela, Mia (8), Lucy (5), & Neve (3).

“Beautiful destination - Home from home.”

Reviewed 16 Dec 2012

We visited Pollensa for our Honeymoon earlier this year. We didn't want to travel far as we had our 2 year old daughter with us so wanted a nice quiet family friendly resort. We couldn't have selected any better, Pollensa proved to be the most amazing place to relax, unwind and treat as our home. A part in making this such a special place was Cala II. We had an amazing welcome pack on our arrival and for all three of us it was a very spacious Villa that had all that we could ever need. It's located in a quiet residential area and is completely private. Sitting on the verander at night, overlooking the pool and drinking Rioja was just amazing. The only negative we'd have is that the pool would've been nicer to have been heated as the sun hadn't quite had time to heat it (early May). You will need a car to get to this Villa as it's quite a walk from the main road. However, if you do have a car, you can get either Puerto Pollensa or Pollensa in under 10 minutes. It's ideally located between the two places and both places provided all we needed for our holiday. There's a supermarket on the approach into Puerto Pollensa which is caters for anything you need and is well stocked with a mixture of local and 'well recognised' products. Puerto Pollensa is a beautiful beachside town with a gorgeous beach and lapping waves. It has all you need for a day at the beach and as many places to eat as you'll ever need. The Square which holds the market on Wednesday morning has a beautiful grill restaurant providing superb alfresco dining. We didn't venture much further in our week to be honest, quite simply because we didn't want or need to. In saying that, we want to return perhaps for two weeks so that we can explore the area more as there are places in this region that look absolutely stunning. Thanks very much for providing such a wonderful place to spend a very special time.

“A place that exceeded our expectations”

Reviewed 4 Nov 2012

We had a fantastic time at Cala II summer 2012. The villa, its large garden and the pool were all very tidy, clean and perfectly maintained. A great asset of Cala II is its privacy; you are not overlooked by anybody and there is no noise from traffic at all. The view on the mountains from the roof terrace is amazing. Instead of hiring a car we rented bikes for the week and this worked out really well. Pollensa, an unspoilt Spanish town with great character, Puerto Pollensa, the beach (Cala Sant Vicent recommended, great for snorkelling) and Alcudia, are all on a good cycling distance (half an hour away or less). Mallorca has excellent busses for the longer distances (www.tib.org) and taxis in Puerto Pollensa are very cheap. The owners of the villa make you feel warmly welcome and are very approachable. They are happy to advise you if needed. All in all, a place that exceeded our expectations.

“Best Holiday Villa by Far”

Reviewed 30 Sep 2012

Cala II is a charming villa, idea for anyone looking for a peaceful and relaxing holiday location that is still only a stones throw away from all the hustle of Puerto Pollensa, beaches, entertainment and shopping. We found the villa to be clean and well maintained with all the things needed for your holiday. The friendly owners are always on hand if needed yet unobtrusive. The welcome pack was better than the norm and the fruit was simply delicious. Travelling with two young boys, 5 and 7, the pool was always going to be a focal point and was well enjoyed by all. With plenty of grass for football and both sunny and shady areas for the adults to chill and relax. The covered terrace is ideal for all the Al Fresco dining. With this being our fourth villa holiday experience this has been by far the best! Thank you to Susan and her family for making this a wonderful holiday for us. See you again next year!

“wow lovely private villa”

Reviewed 16 Sep 2012

we stayed at calla II in September 2012, it was everything we were looking for, peaceful, quiet, very private, not overlooked, and very well kept. The owners left us a package of food which was a lovely touch, The house was very clean and has everything you need. The owners provided towels, and the pool was lovely, the garden beautiful, and there are washing and drying facilities. A lot of thought has gone into this house, you are 10 minutes from Pollensa old town which is lovely in the evening and close to porta pollensa and alcludia, a car is a must with plently of lovely places to visit. the house is quite tricky to find, once past pollensa its the turning after the Lidl shop on the right. we would recommend this lovely hideaway, if its some peace and quiet you want then this is the place for you A++++++

“Lovely villa in beautiful part of Majorca”

Reviewed 18 Jun 2012

Had a wonderful stay at this excellent villa, which is close to both Pollensa and Puerto Pollensa. The villa is spotless and well equipped and on arrival a lovely welcome pack left for guests in the kitchen. We enjoyed eating on the terrace and chilling by the private pool. Very relaxing and thoroughly enjoyed our week here. Hope to return again sometime.

“GREAT VALUE FOR SUPERB VILLA”

Just returned from our honeymoon, Which we took our children so they could enjoy this fab villa too! It has everything you will need for a self catering holiday,Aircon,Heating,Dishwasher,Fridgefreezer,Change of towels the list goes on,We loved the Pool our kids thought they were in heaven! This villa is out of the hustle and bright lights of town bust this did suit us so a car is essential or enless you like cycling which is possible except when your in the middle of heatwave can be a bit uncomfortable,Note no phone or internet at villa but this can be a welcome change(No interferance at meal times or Facebook) Finding the villa can be tricky but if you read the instructions from Susan the owner and not try and be clever like me with a sat nav !! You will find it and have definitely a wonderful time.
