The long sandy beach of Vatera is just 5km away Welcome to our house "Church Cottage": a pretty typical village house near the church in the heart of the traditional village of Polichnitos. The house has been lovingly restored and renovated; It can be booked for a maximum of 5 people. On the upper floor there are two double bedrooms (both with air conditioning). From one of the bedroom leads to the roof terrace. This is the perfect place for a coffee or a glass of wine in the evening - with a great view over the town and the hills all around. On the ground floor is the spacious and well-equipped kitchen, a dining room, a reading room with many books (mostly English), the cozy living room and a large, modern bathroom. The bathroom has a bath and a shower, also stands here the washing machine. In the courtyard covered and shady is a cozy sitting area. The house has a stove in the kitchen, as well as central heating. "Church Cottage" is therefore available even in the colder months. Costs for electricity, fuel oil and firewood are charged separately according to consumption. "Church Cottage" is the ideal location for people who like to live in a traditional Greek village with its authentic taverns and shops and / or want to take a vacation. The long sandy beach of Vatera is just 5km away and the Gulf of Kalloni 4km. From the house there are beautiful trails through the olive groves. Traditional coffee shops, which serves delicious meze gets the evening (small plates with Greek specialties) and shops in the neighborhood. "Church Cottage" is also a good base for bird watchers. Some of the exciting places and the salt pans of Skala Polichnitou are nearby. We live on Lesvos and live nearby. During your Auftenthaltes we are available for you and will be happy to help and advice. We can ... organize trips, tours, hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, boat tours for our guests happy. We also help with booking a rental car or airport transfers. Polichnitos - The village has historically been a refuge for the surrounding beach towns in danger from pirates. The village used to put his time almost 10,000 inhabitants the center of a rich olive region and the retail center of its surroundings. With its now 2000 inhabitants of the area surrounded by olive groves, orchards and fields. Some houses still stand empty, many have been but lovingly restored. A stroll through the town is worthwhile, the old streets with its cobblestone streets and many fine old houses with interesting architectural details are worth seeing. The place is suitable for the traveler outside the traditional holiday season as a home. Throughout the year are people on the street going about their daily business. The taverns and coffee shops are always open and there is lively bustle. A stay in Polichnitos combines the charm of an authentic Greek village with the hustle and bustle on the Platia well as with the rest of the old, coming from another time streets. One of the landmarks of the town is the stork couple that builds the middle of town on the abandoned chimney of an olive press its nest every year and is raising the next generation. The hot springs of Polichnitos are known and popular with locals and visitors. The plant, with its two bath houses was built during the Turkish occupation, now the houses were modernized. The spa is well worth seeing with the ancient buildings, the well and the sources and a beautiful old three-arched bridge. But much more interesting is the healing and relaxing effects of thermal water. The clear and odorless water comes with a temperature of 67 up to 92 degrees from the earth. It is rich in minerals and effective against a number of diseases and ailments. In the quality of the thermal water is comparable to the thermal springs of Wiesbaden. Vatera is a young beach settlement below the village Vrisa in the south of the island. Vatera has the longest beach of the island, almost 10km mainly sand and fine gravel. From a tiny fishing village with the small port of Agios Fokas, a holiday region has developed in recent years, where you can find peace and relaxation, but also lively bars and cafes.
