Location description from owner

The Dalmatia region

One of the islands easiest to reach is Lokrum. It takes about 15 minutes to get there by taxi boats that run from the old harbour every 30 minutes from 9 am to 7 pm daily. It was declared a Managed Nature Reserve, and in 1976 a Special Forest Vegetation Reserve. The islet is small, less than one mile wide and here are the things you can do on the island: swim in the Dead Sea (salt-filled lake linked to the open sea), FKK or naturist cliff beach, visit the Benedictine monastery founded in 12th century, have meal in the restaurant, marvel in exotic plants planted by Archduuke Maximilian Ferdinand of Habsburg who bought the island in 1859. and brought over the peacocks. No traffic is allowed on the island and there are no residents living there. This way you can aviod the crowds of Dubrovnik for a day at least. More info about this island: www.lokrum.hr/en

Ploce

After becoming acquainted with the Old City sights, and walking the city walls, we suggest you to take the Dubrovnik cable car that will take you to Mount Srđ offering a magnificent view of Dubrovnik, which appears to be lying in your palm.

The surroundings of Dubrovnik, including the coast and village areas, abound in attractions. In the picturesque villages of Dubrovnik hinterland you can taste specialities prepared under a baking lid, home-made cheese, fresh fish…

A pleasant boat-ride will take you to the charming Elafite Islands rich in culture and natural attractions.

The only one in the south of Croatia, the Mljet National Park is an obligatory excursion destination for lovers of virgin nature. The Island of Korčula is the birth place of the famous seafarer Marco Polo.

The Island of Love – Lokrum is in close proximity to the Old City. The centuries of its rich history, legends and tales, and the magic of sea and nature will revive old loves and inspire new ones…

The village households in the Dubrovnik littoral, Župa Dubrovačka and Konavle are well-known for their characteristic atmosphere, customs and folklore, and particularly for their candid, cordial and cheerful hosts.

The world's second longest wall (after the Great Wall of China) is the wall of Ston, the small town famous, among other things, for cultivation of shellfish, particularly oysters with aphrodisiac properties.

On the road to Ston is the Arcadian Trsteno Arboretum, where one of the most beautiful women of the European Renaissance, the red-haired poetess Cvijeta Zuzorić wrote her rhymes and loved. Take a walk under the crowns of ancient trees and see your reflection in the Neptune and Nymphs Fountain.

The Pelješac Peninsula is the best-known wine-growing area in the south of Croatia, where the wine routes take you to places where you can enjoy the typical Plavac Mali wine variety and the recently discovered truffles.

Thanks to its geographical position, Dubrovnik offers international one-day excursions to the Bay of Kotor (Montenegro), a pilgrimage to Međugorje, a visit to Mostar - the meeting place of East and West, and a visit to the Vjetrenica Cave. A UNESCO natural monument since 1950, the cave was named after cold winds that blow from its entrance.
