The home is ideally suited for two families sharing the 10 sleeper accommodation. All beds are extra length single beds that can be configured as kingsize double beds ( limited to three of these though) in two of the rooms. The living area comprises a large open plan lounge, dining room and kitchen with a separate scullery off the kitchen. A private solar heated swimming pool is located in the back courtyard while the wonderful Solar Beach with the Robberg Peninsula as the backdrop a mere 160 meter walk along a board walk away.

There is secure parking for two motor cars in a double automated lock-up garage that leads directly into the home.

Being close to the beach it is an easy stroll down along the boardwalk immediately in front of the home. Should the weather not be that good on the beach there is a pleasant solar heated pool in the courtyard. It is a place where one can relax as it located in a quiet area of Plettenberg Bay yet within easy reach of all amenities.

Besides being ideal for a family or two with children, the home lends itself very well for golf tours. All beds are single beds in double-sized en-suite bedrooms.

The open plan lounge, dining room and kitchen provides the perfect environment for a happy communal get together. The kitchen is fully equipped with two combination fridge freezers, a microwave oven, a stove and oven as well as an under-counter bar fridge. The scullery is equipped with a dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer and chest deep freeze.

Two or three beach umbrellas are provided together with ample beach towels for those that want to spend the day on the beach. Of course lying on one of the loungers around the solar heated swimming pool is also a pleasant and relaxing experience.

Further details

There are two rates one applicable to the peak seasons the other to the off season as depicted on the rates page. The minimum stay in the peak season is three weeks while during the off season it is one week. A booking deposit equal to 50% of the total rental is payable to secure the booking with the balance of 50% together with a breakage or damage deposit of ZAR 6 000 being payable two weeks prior to the date of arrival. Non-payment of this balance together with the breakages and damages deposit within the time frame of 14 days prior to the intended day of arrival may void the rental and all monies paid in respect thereof will be forfeited. The damages and breakage deposit is applied to the departure clean and laundry with the remaining balance repaid within 30 days in the event that no damage or breakages of a material nature - at the discretion of the owner - have occurred. Excessive soiling of whatever nature is regarded as damage.

Should the booking need to be cancelled by the tenant more than six months prior to the date of arrival, 65% of the booking deposit will be refunded, if the cancellation is more than three months but less than six months prior to the date of arrival then 35% of the booking fee will be refunded. Thereafter the booking deposit is no longer refundable. A booking will only be cancelled by the owner in a case of non- payment of the balance of the rental plus the breakages and damages deposit within the time frame given as indicated above. In all other cases the owner will only cancel a booking if an event of force majeure, where events might happen that are beyond the control of the owner such as floods, fire or even building activities in close proximity. In such an event the monies paid to the owner will be refunded as damage in full and final settlement, the damage being limited to the amounts paid to the owner.

Solar heated swimming pool, patio and outdoor hot and cold shower facilities. Outdoor boma or fire place with permanent seating surround. Patio furniture seating 10 persons around an oval table on the back patio with seating for six persons on each of the front balcony and back balcony. Some beach chairs and an umbrella are provided. The walk to the beach is an easy stroll along a 160 meter boardwalk.Although the view of the sea is interrupted by two homes whales have been observed from the balcony of the Sondel Beach house.

The Western Cape region

The Western Cape is renowned for its wine farms in the Stellenbosch area providing a very wide variety of wines. Stellenbosch is some 55 kms from Cape Town central. It is also an area that has some 9 000 different wild plants and flowers most of which are endemic to the area. Table Mountain alone has 4 000 of these.

Situated 550km from Cape Town and 230km from Port Elizabeth, Plettenberg Bay was originally called 'Bahia Formosa' or Beautiful Bay by the Portuguese explorers. The drive from Cape Town takes approximately 5-6 hrs along the N2 highway. Alternatively one can take a day or two to meander through the exquisite Little Karoo, which has a beauty of its own, travelling along good quality dirt roads to Oudtshoorn and then on to Plettenberg Bay.

Plettenberg Bay

Plettenberg Bay offers an opportunity for a relaxing beach holiday. Having said that there are two golf courses within 10 kms of the home - Plettenberg Bay Golf Course and Goose Valley with another two some 35 kms away in the Knysna surrounds. Three of these courses are rated amongst the top 20 golf courses in the country.

Whale watching off boats is a favourite past time with the launching site a mere 8 kms from the home.

Then of course there are the canopy adventures in the famous Tsitsikama Forests the Storms River Gorge and river mouth some 40 kms from Plettenberg Bay. The scenic Knysna forests and Knysna laggoon are within a 30 kms reach. Oudtshoorn and its renowned Cango Caves and old ostrich farms is an easy 170 kms day's drive there and back.

The Garden Route – Plettenberg Bay is in the centre of the Garden Route which, as its name suggests is a picturesque stretch of coastline which starts in George and Herolds Bay to the west through the Wilderness, Sedgefield, Knysna and then heading east from Plettenberg Bay, Natures Valley, a beautiful little holiday village on the coast, Storms River and beyond.

“Superb house in Plettenberg Bay”

Sondel Beach House is a gem. It is very well equipped and it is obvious that a lot of thought has gone in to every aspect of the house, from luxurious bathrooms to a drinks fridge off the patio next to the swimming pool. The rooms are beautifully appointed, the beds very comfortable and the kitchen is exceptionally well stocked with crockery, cutlery and serving platters. The views are lovely and the proximity to the beach is good. The house is beautifully appointed with quality fittings and fixtures.....it is a 5 star experience! It is the little things though that make a difference, like having double adaptors in each room for charging electronic equipment and the heated towel rails in the bathrooms. It was so nice to stay in a property that catered for 10 people and to find that there was sufficient fridge space to stock food for that number of people; and the separate drinks fridge is a bonus! All in all, it is a luxurious, well equipped house in which one can have a wonderful holiday!
