To the east it is only a 45 min drive to the Pink Granite coast resorts of Tregastel-Plage (Aquarium and Forum leisure centre), the fantastic rocks at Ploumanac'h and Perros-Guirec and the lovely cathedral at Treguier. Two further not-to-be-missed attractions are the Ile de Brehat and the Sept Iles boat trips, both possible day excursions. Also Erquy, Cap Frehel, a delightful steam railway between Paimpol and Pontrieux, Mont St Michel and St Malo are all within striking distance for a great day out. To the west are the delightful village of Locronan, the port of Douarnenez, Brest where you can visit 'Oceanopolis', plus Le Conquet/ Pointe St Mathieu on the Atlantic coast. For early risers day trips are also possible to Southern Brittany including Concarneau, Pont Aven and even Carnac. Guerlesquin is our nearest 'Petite cite de caractere' with its lovely lake, and only a 20 minute drive southwards brings you to the famous town of Huelgoat with its rock-strewn ravines and wonderful woods. If you are a lover of 'real cider', you have a choice of local vendors (as opposed to the shelves of a supermarket). And if you happen to be in Plestin at the right time in the summer, you can't possibly miss the 'Nuit de la Saucisse'!

Location description from owner

The Brittany region

The north coast of Brittany is renowned for its lovely scenery (closely resembling Cornwall), its water sports and its seafood. Plestin-les-Greves is an estuary town with many beaches/coves nearby, but it is also possible to use this as a base to visit a wide variety of tourist attractions throughout Brittany. To the east is the Pink Granite coast of Tregastel and Perros Guirec, the lovely cathedral city of Treguier, the popular port of Paimpol and the nearby Ile de Brehat/Sept Iles boat trips, plus a steam railway at Pontrieux; it only takes a few hours to go as far as Dinard, Dinan, St Malo and the Mont St Michel.

To the west beyond Brest (with its 'Oceanopolis' park) you can follow the Atlantic coast north from Le Conquet to the 'Abers' region with many small fishing villages. Other places of interest further south include Douarnenez, the lovely medieval village of Locronan, Quimper, Pont Aven, Lorient, Vannes - even the prehistoric stones of Carnac if you get up early enough in the morning! Nearer home is the delightful old town of Huelgoat which has boulder-strewn valleys and beautiful woods for walking in.

Plestin les Greves

Being on the coast there is plenty of opportunity for coastal walking and water sports for the more energetic. During the summer there are 'vide greniers' most weekends somewhere or another, and Plestin has its own Fest Noz and 'Nuit de la Saucisse' . Go inland a small distance and enjoy the 'petite cite de caractere' which is Guerlesquin, with its 'Plan d'Eau'. Many of the local villages have their very colourful annual 'pardons' in the summer months, Food-wise, we have compiled a list of our favourite eating places for the benefit of guests and this includes the wonderful 'restaurants ouvriers' which offer a 4-course lunch incl wine, water and coffee for around 12 euros.
