“Nice apartment in the best location”

Reviewed 28 Oct 2016

I actually booked a different apartment through this website but was swapped to this one (which I was fine with). So thought I'd better leave a review for this one! This complex is in a perfect location- steps from the best beach in the area with loads of bars and restaurants on your doorstep. You can walk up the street (between the Med Palace) and reach the safari center and the hard rock in minutes. Or head along the beach for loads of beach front restaurants, most of them excellent. Or you can walk the other way all the way along the beach into proper Playa de las Americas (with a stop at the beach front Mojito bar on the way!) The complex itself is very clean, well maintained and the pool area is fantastic. Not much in the way of amenities beside the pool, but you have anything you could need a few steps away on the beach. There's always spare loungers to be had, although you do get those who put out their towels at 8 in the morning. The pool was never too busy, but we did visit outside the school hols. To enter the complex you have to walk through the Taurus restaurant- this might feel odd at first but after a couple of times it won't. There is a glass door with a security code to enter the building. There are also another couple of exits from the complex but you need a special key for them. The main entrance isn't disabled friendly as there are a lot of steps. Our apartment was in B block facing the sea. To find it you had to go down a ramp by the pool and into a courtyard building. I had read a review saying that this building was very noisy due to the slamming of doors echoing in the courtyard but we never heard a thing. It could be different if there are a lot of kids staying as they might slam doors and run around more. The apartment was comfy if not luxurious, and clean enough if not immaculate. We are fairly easy going and it was just a place to sleep and change for us. The terrace was huge and we ate breakfast outside with a sea view every morning which was fantastic. Unfortunately if you looked straight down there was scrubby plants and rubbish. But unless you stood right at the railing and looked down you couldn't see it so easy to ignore- I didn't even notice it for a few days. Not the fault of the apartment, it seems to just be a bit of a badly maintained area right under the row of balconies. In the apartment the bed was comfortable, there was a sofa, table and chairs and a nice tv that bizarrely got the following English channels: BBC news. C4. Film 4. Itv+1 (twice) and itv2+1. Anyway not a big deal, we didn't even turn on the TV until halfway through our stay. There was also a fridge with a little freezer compartment, toaster, kettle and oven and hob. The kitchen equipment was once again a bit random- only 2 mugs but 4 espresso cups and saucers. No bowls so we ate cereal out of glasses. We didn't eat in a lot though so it was fine. The big plus in the apartment was the modern and very efficient air con. The big minus was that the wifi didn't work. We were provided by the owner the name of the network and the password. However the name they gave us did not match the router in the apartment. We emailed them (from a cafés wifi) to ask for the correct password and they just resent the same information. So no wifi all week. We also couldn't get the safe to work. The bathroom was fine and functional and included a washing machine. We had a fantastic time in Tenerife. Don't miss the Pasta Vino italian restaurant under the apartment complex for great value food. Also try the restaurants in the Safari center which are a little more pricey but fantastic. For cheap eats try Surfers bar which does incredible burgers. Play some mini golf at Parque Santiago, walk along the sea front and grab a pineapple mojito under the stars, and don't miss Siam Park and Loro Parque!
