Location description from owner

The Canary Islands region

The Island of Lanzarote is situated just 100km off the coast of Africa and is the most easterly of the Canary Islands and only 60km long and 20 km wide, making it the fourth largest of the Canary island.

Lanzarote has a mild dry climate with average temperatures throughout the year between 21 and 29 degrees and the normal water temperature of the Atlantic Ocean ranges between 19 degrees in winter and 23 degrees in summer and autumn. Annual rainfall is just 140mm (5.5 inches). This makes Lanzarote the perfect year-round destination for water sport or just relaxing in the sun by the pool.

The island of Lanzarote is the most unusual and surprising in the Canary Island archipelago. The island offers the visitor a wide variety of landscapes and attractions. Declared a Biosphere Reserve by the UNESCO in 1993, Lanzarote is made up of particularly beautiful landscapes.

A real must for the visitor are the art and culture centres, scattered all over the island. Mostly built by the famous Lanzarote artist, César Manrique, who was an expert in highlighting and conserving the charm and temperament of the island. They are a fascinating amalgamation of natural beauty and intelligent architecture.

Despite the volcanic nature of the island, Lanzarote has several beautiful golden sandy beaches such as Playa Blanca, Playa Dorada and the collection of beaches at Papagayo, all of which are near the villa.

Playa Blanca

The Marina Rubicón, is the main focal point of the area with its 400 boat moorings and exquisite restaurants and lively waterfront bars. Sign up for a fantastic trip on a catamaran, rent a kayak to explore the coast, relax beside the pool, or just, browse in the boutiques, shops and art gallery along the promenade around the harbour.

The area surrounding the villa also offers many more interesting things to do and places to visit.

* The coastal promenade starts near the villa at the El Pueblo shopping centre and runs for nearly 9 kilometres to the lighthouse on the south western tip of Lanzarote at Faro de Pechiguera and is perfect for fitness enthusiasts wanting to keep in shape or for the more relaxed holidaymaker, just having a pleasant stroll and enjoying the spectacular sea and mountain views.

* The area borders the Papagayo National Park with its coastal walks and world famous natural golden sandy beaches perfect for snorkelling or sunbathing.

* The Timanfaya National Park (Fire Mountain) is also close by, with its impressive volcanoes and lava fields.

* Playa Blanca old harbour is the ferry port to Fuerteventura. There are two companies providing service; Fred Olsen and Naviera Armas. If you are here in Playa Blanca for any length of time, a day trip to Fuerteventura and the town of Corralejo is highly recommended.

* Twice weekly craft market (Wednesday & Saturday 9 – 2pm) at the Marina creates a lively holiday atmosphere.

* Public Transport - Recently, a new (hop-on / hop–off) bus service was introduced that operates across Playa Blanca, linking Las Colorades in the east to Faro de Pechiguera in the west. The service operates twice every hour from Villas Del Sur.

“Another great stay at Villa Saskia”

Reviewed 24 Feb 2016

This was our 3rd stay in 4 years which goes some way to show how highly we rate this property. The villa is on a very quiet lane and is sheltered from the infamous Lanzarote winds. There are some great restaurants within walking distance from classy upmarket to family fun - so something for everyone. There is a well stocked supermarket 5 minutes walk away and the stop for the Playa Blanca Circular bus is about a 4 minute walk away so you can easily get to the old town and port. The villa was clean, comfortable and well equipped. We particularly like the rear courtyard with built in barbecue - don't be put off using it - it's really easy to clean afterwards. The addition of Wi-Fi since our last stay was a welcome addition. We had to call out the villa managers to sort out a very minor problem - they were quick, efficient and sorted things out without any fuss. The villa owners are a pleasure to deal with and the pre-arrival information they provide is exceptional. Pretty sure we'll be back!

“Great holiday”

We had a great time at Villa Saskia. Everything you could want at hand. Easy walking distance to the marina. The Villa had everything it was like a home from home. Pool was great. We took full advantage of the barbecue. Booked again for June 2016. Can't wait.

“Absolutely Perfect”

Reviewed 27 Sep 2015

I travelled with 2 friends in our mid forties. This villa has everything you could possibly need. It was spotless and very well equipped. The pool was perfect and was cleaned twice in the week we stayed. There was a short 2 minute walk to the nearest supermarket and about a 15 min walk to the marina where most of the restaurants are located. George and Andrea the villa owners made the booking process very easy and provided some really useful information before we left. I cannot fault this villa, perfect for a relaxing week and I would highly recommend to everyone, young families, couples or slightly older people as not too hilly.

“Cant wait to return.”

Just returned back from an amazing holiday in Villa Saskia in Playa Blanca. The villa is fully equiped with everything you would need on holiday.Brilliant pool with four of the most comfortable sun loungers, Fluffy towels and every kitchen utensil you could want. The Villa is in a lovely location only 5 minutes from fully stocked supermarket and Taxi Rank (only 3.5 euros to town).Eating out is not at all expensive, We ate at so many , but our favourites are; Blue Note, Irish Anvil and Plaice in the Sun.The surrounding mountains are amazing , and the trip Mountains of Fire was breathtaking. There is not a sound at nightime,so you sleep soundly after a day out exploring.

Our 5th year in a row which says a lot! Immaculately clean, very comfortable with top quality furnishings etc, well equipped. A far cry from the usual rental offerings.

“Pure Comfort”

Reviewed 24 Jan 2015

Villa Saskia is fantastic villa to stay in. The owners have thought of everything to make your stay very comfortable. It's in a very nice peaceful area, nice walks to the marina where there are some nice Bars n restaurants. If you like to walk there is a beautiful coastal walk into Playa Blanca it's self, taxii back is €4/5. You can also walk if you like hill walking to some lovely beaches. We stayed at the Villa for a week, would have liked to stay longer as it was like home with sunshine, not holiday accommodation. The booking process was so easy and hassle free, thanks to George & Andrea whose professionalism has to be commended. Kate the lady who looks this property does a great job and is very helpful and friendly Hope to be back again

“Spotlessly clean great facilities and a 20 walk To bars and restaurants”

Reviewed 6 Jan 2015

Travelled over the New Year with partner and our teenage daughter, we have holidayed in Playa Blanca in both hotels and villas for many years but truly loved the freedom and location of this villa, the pool patio area with its very comfy sun loungers was a sun trap as it gave great shelter from a cool wind which blew for a few days. The villa consists of 1 double bedroom with ensuite shower cubicle toilet and 2 sinks. 2nd and 3rd bedroom has 2 single beds each and are either side of the family bathroom, shower over bath, single sink and toilet. There was plenty of wardrobe/hangers and draw space in all 3 bedrooms. There is lockable shutters on each of the bedroom windows so in the warmer weather you could leave the shutters locked closed yet have the windows open allowing air through. The inner courtyard is were the built in BBQ is along with a table and 4 chairs and good lighting. The kitchen/dinning/living area is all open plan. Kitchen: large fridge freezer, dishwasher cooker and hob with plenty of utensils plates etc also a big bonus was the good quality plastic beakers and wine glasses to use around the pool. The washer is housed in a outdoor utility area. Dinning area: large glass table and 6 chairs. Living area: 2 large cream leather sofas, coffee table well stocked book stand Tv with excellent surround system for use with the many DVDs within the villa. And we really appreciated the full sky tv package which we used on the cooler days. The villa is a 20 minute coastal walk to the marina were there is many good restaurants and bars we particularly enjoyed cookies in the Marina and loved looking in the shops on the marina and the market Wednesday and Saturday. Andrea and George were very helpful from the booking enquiry right through to our villa holiday, we would highly recommend the villa and would certainly return in the future.

“Winter sun at an outstanding villa!”

Reviewed 7 Dec 2014

We traveled to Lanzorote for a week at the beginning of December 2014. As a group of two young couples in our mid 20s we did not struggle to things to do. The villa suited our needs perfectly and was very spacious. The multiple areas for eating was fantastic, areas for dining indoors, out in the front area by the pool and in a small court yard where there was also a brilliant barbecue fully stocked with coals and firefighters. The decor of the villa is modern, clean and homely which we found to be very relaxing and comfortable to live in. The home entertainment system and sky box came in handy on an evening where the weather wasn't so great. The information folder provided by the villa owners provided ample information about local attractions and good places to eat which was very helpful. The pool was a good size and was heated for us arriving, the pool was very clean and the area around the pool was finished to a very high standard which good quality sturdy loungers which were very comfy to lie on and soak up some winter sun!
